What the city is NOT talking about is the sales tax owed for that $1.55 million, which comes to $127,875.00. According to the Texas Comptroller, paid parking is a taxable sale. Who will be responsible for paying this tax, since it remitted back to city the tax is collected in?[ohmy]
It's the mode of transportation the lifeguards should think about changing, instead of parking their vehicles on the Seawall, why doesn't the Parks Board acquire bicycles for their lifeguards to ride to their lifeguard stations leaving their vehicles parked at Parks Board office parking lot.
This City Council is disconnected from the wishes of it's residents and city government can't seem to function with council members wanting to run the city themselves.

Back in the 80's, a good friend of mine, riding his motorcycle westbound in the 4800 blk of the Seawall lost control and slid across the pavement for 200'. No broken bones, but some serious road rash that required 6 weeks of chorox baths at John Sealy, then another 2 months in rehab.
Those thieving tow truck operators on the Island are demanding cash from motorists, even when they are not allowed to charge anything by State Law. [sad]
