The Hitchcock Bulldogs jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, as they rolled the Altair Rice Consolidated Raiders by the final score of 75-34, Friday night at Hitchcock High School.
Sinking free throws and scoring at the rim, the Hitchcock trio of Tra’Vonte Jones, Davonta Scott and Earnest Triplett (combining for 56 points in the game) led the Bulldogs out to a 13-0 lead.
Midway through the second quarter, Hitchcock big man Tyrone Turner made his way past a defender trying to draw a charge for an easy layup, putting Bulldogs up 28-13.
Scott finished off the first half with a layup for a 16-point lead, 35-19.
Jones and Triplett began the third quarter playing their own game against the Raiders as the lead continued to grow.
Jones sank a 3-pointer to begin the quarter. Triplett scored on an offensive rebound put-back, and on the next possession, stole the ball and assisted Jones on another score.
The pair then sank back-to-back 3-pointers and the Bulldogs led 48-22.
The Bulldogs slammed the door shut on the Raiders in the fourth quarter, scoring a total of 27 points in the quarter, as their defense held the Raiders to just eight points.
Turner executed his foot work again, spinning through the paint and scoring off the glass, while drawing a foul and converting an and-one.
Later in the quarter, Drevian Archibald and Jones combined to hit three 3-pointers in a row, building the lead to 72-32.
Jones led the Bulldogs with 22 points, followed by Triplett and Scott with 17 points each and Archibald with eight points.
The Bulldogs hit the road to take on La Marque in a rivalry game Tuesday, immediately following the girls game at 6:15 p.m.
