District 24-6A

Clear Springs 3, Friendswood 0


Holding teams scoreless through now six straight District 24-6A games, the Clear Springs Chargers defeated the Friendswood Lady Mustangs on Tuesday night at Clear Springs High School.

Senior Rana Hussein scored two goals, including one off of a penalty kick. Junior Zoe Jessen’s corner kick found the boot of Maddie Salas, as she put it in the net for the other goal.

Earning their sixth consecutive clean sheet were senior Maddie Fisher, sophomore Bella Iovieno, seniors Erica Isom and Anessa Byerman, and Salas.

Next up for the Chargers (6-0-0) is a road game against Clear Lake at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

The Lady Mustangs (4-2-0) have a home game against Alvin at 7:30 p.m. Friday at 7:30 p.m.

District 23-5A

Texas City 9, Fort Bend Marshall 0 (Monday)


Lifted by a second-half barrage of goals, Texas City Lady Stings won handily over Marshall on the road Monday.

“Against a much improved Marshall, we only managed to score three goals in the first half; second half, we regrouped and came back out with a game plan and were able to score another six goals,” Texas City head coach Lindsay Best said.

Amanda Valdez logged a hat trick to lead the way. Karissa Victoria and Brooklyn Gallagher each scored two goals, and Yessenia Peraza and Angy Orea had a goal apiece.

Assists came from Victoria, Valdez, Peraza, Skyler Hernandez and Valerie Velasquez.

The Lady Stings (7-0 in district) have a huge match coming up to close out district play when Fort Bend Elkins (7-0) visits Stingaree Stadium at noon Saturday.

Friendswood senior keeper Mason Hunnicutt and the Mustangs earned their second clean sheet in a row as they went on to defeat the Clear Springs Chargers on Tuesday night.

Sophomore Diego Martinez recorded both Friendswood goals in the game.

The Mustangs (4-1-1 in District 24-6A) go on the road to face Alvin at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

The Chargers (1-4-1) will have a home game against Clear Lake at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
