A look ahead at Thursday’s high school football game

Texas City vs. Fort Bend Marshall, 7 p.m. today

The Texas City Stings will try to dust themselves off after a tough loss to first-place Manvel last week, but things won’t be much easier against a tough Marshall Buffalos team tonight at Hall Stadium.

A continually improving defense will be a strength for the Stings, and on offense Texas City’s run-heavy attack runs deep at running back, with Jo’Vel McDaniel and Zion Davis among the top options.

Players to watch for Marshall include workhorse running back Damond Wiggins and receiver Demond Demas.

Texas City (3-4 overall, 3-2 in District 23-5A) is coming off a 21-0 loss at home to Manvel, while Marshall (5-2, 4-1) has outscored opponents a combined 108-13 in its past two games, including last week’s 53-6 win over Fort Bend Elkins.
