Dickinson vs. Atascocita

Dickinson quarterback Mike Welch looks for running room on a quarterback keeper in the first quarter against the Atascocita Eagles in the Region III-6A area playoff game at NRG Stadium in Houston on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2019.

Impressive seasons for the Galveston County teams in District 24-6A have now naturally been followed by a swath of all-district honors — including a clean sweep of the superlatives.

Dickinson senior quarterback Mike Welch was unanimously named district most valuable player, while senior safety teammate Savien Arnett (unanimous) was the defensive MVP and fellow Gator Reggie Sanders, a sophomore running back, was co-newcomer of the year. Gators head coach John Snelson, who guided Dickinson to its first district title since 2014, was named 24-6A coach of the year.
