Dickinson powerlifting

The Dickinson powerlifting team took home a regional championship, and will have some of its members compete at state later this month.

The Dickinson boys powerlifting team won the Region 4, Divison 1 powerlifting championship this past Saturday.

Dickinson had 11 lifters qualify to compete at regionals. The following lifters medaled:

First place: Pablo Cavazos in the 148-pound class. Cavazos broke two regional records with a 650-pound squat and total weight lifted of 1,465 pounds for his weight class.

Second place: Daniel Parr in the 220-pound class.

Third place: Marcus White in the super heavyweight class

Fourth place: Jose Rodriguez in the 220-pound class and Jeremiah Coleman in the 123-pound class.

Fifth place: Torrey Lastice in the super heavyweight class

Cavazos, Parr and Rodriguez qualified to compete at the state meet in Abilene on March 24.
