Recap of Friday night's countywide high school volleyball matches including action from District 24-6A and District 23-5A.


Clear Creek 3, Clear Springs 2

LEAGUE CITY - In a battle for first place in the District 24-6A standings, the Clear Creek Wildcats rallied down 0-2 to top the Clear Springs Chargers by the scores of 17-25, 19-25, 25-20, 26-24 and 15-11.

Hannah Froeschl led the Clear Creek attack with 21 kills, followed closely by Melissa McNeil with 18 kills. Caitlyn Burroway and Jenna Metzinger added 10 kills apiece.

Olivia Rigby led the Wildcats’ defense with 19 digs, while Maddie Flora chipped in 10 digs and three aces. Mariah Pardo had 58 assists and 10 digs.

Player statistics for Clear Springs were not immediately available.

Clear Creek (5-0 in District 24-6A) plays next in Dickinson on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

Clear Springs (4-1) has another pivotal district match ahead when the team plays at Clear Falls at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Clear Falls 3, Clear Brook 2

FRIENDSWOOD - The Clear Falls Knights defeated the Clear Brook Wolverines in a nail-biting game with the scores 25-20, 25-21, 19-25, 23-25 and 15-13.

Ashlynn Dunbar led kills with 26 and digs with 24. Savanna Schaff and Kayla Hayes led assists with 26 and 24. Madelyn St. Germain and Sarah Hayman helped keep the ball going with 20 and 15 digs.

Clear Falls (4-1 in District 24-6A) will play a home game next week on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. against Clear Springs.

Friendswood 3, Dickinson 1 

FRIENDSWOOD - The Friendswood Lady Mustangs defeated the Dickinson Lady Gators with the scores 25-12, 20-25, 25-12 and 25-13 on Friday. 

Kelly Colwell and Shannon Murphy led the Mustangs’ digs and kills with 17 kills and 14 digs each. Sarah Thomas led in assists with 47. McKenna Fridye led in blocks with five.

Baylee Klinger led the Lady Gators’ kills with nine. Valencia Barrett led in assists with 11. Ebony Wiltz led in digs with 12.

Friendswood (2-3 in District 23-5A) plays in Houston on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. against Clear Lake. 

Dickinson (0-5) plays a home game on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. against Clear Creek.

Santa Fe 3, Ball High 0

SANTA FE - The Santa Fe Lady Indians defeated the Ball High Lady Tors on Friday with the scores 25-14, 25-11 and 25-9.

Keegan Nelms led the Lady Indians’ kills with 19. Jordan Jewell led the team’s digs with six. Cayla Hockenbury aided the Indians with 24 assists.

Courtney Mack led the Ball High Lady Tors in digs with 12. Skylar Simon had six kills and three digs. Taylor Termini had five kills and eight digs. Gillian Nelsen had one kill and 17 assists.

Santa Fe (5-0 in District 23-5A) plays their next game in Houston, Friday at 6:30 p.m. against Fort Bend Wilowridge.

Ball High (2-3) plays next in Richmond on Tuesday at 6 p.m. against Fort Bend Bush.

Texas City 3, Fort Bend Elkins 0

MISSOURI CITY - The Texas City Lady Stings defeated the Fort Bend Elkins Lady Knights with the scores 25-17, 25-13 and 27-25. 

Treslyn Ortiz had 20 kills. Mya McMillian had four kills. Audrey Renken had six kills. Shelby Thompson had five kills. Kendall King had 35 assists. 

Texas City (2-3 in District 23-5A) will play in Missouri City on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. against Fort Bend Ridge Point.
