After a mild spring with many perfect days for running, we’re hitting the pivot point where hot weather can suck the joy out of anyone’s run.

It’s not just a perception, running in the heat and humidity actually is harder: On average, heart rate increases by up to 10 beats per minute when the humidity climbs to 80 percent or more, and also increases, whether sedentary or active, by up to 10 bpm when the temperature goes above 90 degrees.
