It looks like it’s going to be a great weekend for running and racing, and one Galveston event combines both. Saturday’s Texas Canoe and Kayak Racing Association Open Water State Championship is mostly about racing, but running plays a part as well.

“All the races have a Le Mans start,” race spokesman Tommy Yonley said. “There’s a start line on the sand, and everybody runs from there into the water.”
