Santa Fe resident Jim Abney welcomed 2020 just as he has for the previous six years: with a brief pause in the middle of a 100-mile run.

“About 11:55, everyone gathers at the aid station, and we have a toast at midnight and a few sips of champagne, then it’s back to running,” Abney said.
