Last Saturday, both the law of the land — the land being operationally defined as the state of Texas, and the laws of the game of golf applicable to both the USGA and the Royal and Ancient, golf’s primary governing bodies — underwent change.

In Texas, 23 new laws (24 according to one source) went into effect with impact ranging from homestead exemptions to local elections to tax credit for the certified rehabilitation of certified historic structures.
