Twenty-four-year-old Sam Burns was swaggering up the 11th fairway en route to his first PGA Tour win and first million dollar plus payday. Holes 16-18, known as the “Snake Pit” awaited, and Tour veteran Keegan Bradley was slugging it out with young Burns, birdie for birdie and bogey for bogey.

Then it happened: Velcro. Burns, on camera with a microphone nearby (the Tour is doing a great job of giving viewers player-caddie conversations), ripped loose the Velcro closure on his glove, the sound jarring free in my mind thoughts of golf gloves and their place in golf history.

TV golf has been more enjoyabl lately. Watching the leaders grinding for the lead instead of watching one has been trying to make the cut. Tiger increases ticket and commercial sales but he isn't why we watch TV golf.

I find it amusing that golf commentators talk in hushed tones to us TV viewers, like we are right there on the fairway with the “on site” spectators being all quite like, as

it’s rarely quite in my house while I’m trying to watch a little golf!
