Texas City High School Workouts

Texas City High School head football coach and athletic director Leland Surovik speaks Tuesday about the challenges of implementing workouts for students amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Sports will continue to rouse from its pandemic-induced slumber this week, as local youth baseball begins its season, the county’s high schools continue their summer workouts, college football presents a plan to start its season on time, and MLB’s negotiations continue to drag.

Local youth baseball leagues across Galveston County will play actual sanctioned games this week in another small step forward toward a return to normal in the sports world. Leagues will follow state and local guidelines set into place because of the COVID-19 pandemic, including social distancing of fans and allowing players to leave the dugout when not playing.
