Houston Texans vs. Minnesota Vikings

A fan holds up signs calling for the firing of Houston Texans head coach Bill O'Brien after a loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, Oct. 4, 2020 at NRG Stadium.

This morning, my regular column posted to Galvnews.com, which, in part, lamented the Houston Texans being stuck in a limbo of mediocrity.

The team had just fallen to 0-4 on the season when I wrote the column, and, at the time, it just seemed like head coach/general manager Bill O’Brien had too much accumulated power within the Texans organization to ever be fired no matter how inept he proved to be, time and again, on the field or in the front office.
