Join us as we celebrate the 11th anniversary of The Daily News Press Run this October.
Run, walk or jog with us to support the Newspapers In Education program on Saturday, October 9, 2022. The Press Run features certified Galveston Causeway 5K and 10K courses, a Kid's 1K sponsored by Whataburger, a book character costume contest, dozens of vendor booths, music, food and much more. We have a big event planned!
The Whataburger Kids Zone is back! The kid zone will offer your kiddos a safe environment, filled with bouncy houses, arts and crafts, face painting and more. Stations will be managed for small groups of kids.
Support Newspapers in Education
The Daily News Press Run provides support to the Newspapers in Education (NIE) program. NIE provides educational resources that use the newspaper to develop reading comprehension skills, critical thinking and a better understanding of the way the world relates to the classroom. There is a waiting list of teachers each year who want to join. We need your help to make the program a success for the upcoming school year.

Kid’s 1K, 5K, and 10K Run
Race Date: Saturday, October 29, 2022
Registration Begins at: 5:30 AM
Kid's 1K - $10 until August 30; $15 after August 30; $15 on race day.
5K Run/Walk - $30 until August 30; $35 after August 30; $40 on race day.
10K Run/Walk - $35 until August 30; $40 after August 30; $45 on race day.
Race Shirt Sizes: Sizes and availability guaranteed for participants registered by October 6.

10 & under (Kids), 11-14yrs, 15-19yrs, 20-24yrs, 25-29yrs, 30-34yrs, 35-39yrs, 40-44yrs, 45-49yrs, 50-54yrs, 55-59yrs, 60-64yrs, 65-69yrs, 70 & over
Awards:
1st place overall male & female (5K & 10K)
1st - 3rd place male & female in each age division (5K & 10K)
All 1K participating runners will receive a medal.

RACE DAY: Saturday, October 29, from 5 a.m. to 6:30 a.m. at The Daily News at 8522 Teichman Rd, Galveston, TX 75574.
Please plan to arrive 60 to 90 minutes prior to race start.
Parking Information
Runners' parking is available at Target Parking Lot 6128 Broadway, Galveston, TX 77551. Shuttle buses will run from 5:00 am to noon. Please allow yourself ample time to get checked in and warm up.
Bag Drop Off
Bag drop is available at the info station for a $5 donation to newspapers in education program.
Costume Contest
Dress up as your favorite book character as we celebrate Literacy Day with our Smart Family Literacy, Inc. Partners. The first, second and third place winners will win a special prize donated by local merchants. The contest is divided in two groups children and adults. A panel will judge the costumes.
