Legislation filed this week proposes a new plan to introduce casino gambling to Texas. The bill has support of both a Democrat and a Republican but is less specific than numerous others filed in the past about allowing a casino in Galveston County.
State Sen. Carol Alvarado, a Democrat from Houston, and State Rep. John Kuempel, a Republican from Seguin, on Tuesday filed identical bills that would create a Texas Gaming Commission and allow four “destination resort” casinos in or near the largest cities in the state.
