The National Parks in this country are fantastic and should be preserved for many generations to come. Thanks to the many great leaders in the past who saw their value to this great nation.

Most US parks are great. They require taxpayer funding because users don;t pay enough. Increase user fees to keep them great.

Ted Gillis

Or just privatize them them like republicans would prefer.

Privatize them and have drilling, hotels at the bottom of the grand canyon, etc etc. Yeah, that sounds like a great idea........NOT

Ted Gillis, I'm not sure where you got the idea of "Republicans prefer privatization", here's a link to the bill, you can see that Sen Gardner R-CO is the sponsor and the co-sponsors are both R and D. No talk of privatization in this bill and yep, user fees could increase, but doing so limits those families who would be able to enjoy.

William, I was being snarky. Republican support for this bill is a welcomed surprise. Not too many years ago, there was some cat named Grover Norquist that had almost every republican in Congress sign some kind of stupid pledge to reduce the size of government small enough that you could drown it in a bathtub. So for republicans to now be in favor of an expanded government service like National Parks is shocking.

They have a deep hole to dig themselves out of before I take them seriously.
