I was going to vote for Trump in 2020, but it looks like he has everything wrapped up, so I'm just going to sit back and watch the Democrats take a shellacking in 2020.

Bailey Jones

Gary - any chance we can get a link to the data behind this good news?

Gary Miller

Bailey> Check the archives of the ten biggest polling companies.

Gary Miller

Bailey> I seldom believe any media poll is accurate. I suspect these ten media polls minimized the shift of minorities to Trump.

Jim Forsythe

Gary, let me help you. https://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2020/president/us/general_election_trump_vs_biden-6247.html#!

Be sure to click on vs. Biden.

Carlos Ponce

Like I posted earlier, Jim, the polls will show the Democrat candidate ahead like 4 years ago. The polls will show Trump has no Electoral path to the presidency just like 4 years ago. And Trump will win just like 4 years ago.

Bailey Jones

So.... you're saying that since we can't believe polls, then we can't believe Gary?

Carlos Ponce

Take the polls, check the demographics. If you add points to the Republican/Conservative candidate to accommodate for their padding the count then you have a better picture of what is going on. Since Gary's post indicate increases in Trump support one can surmise the numbers are actually better.

Jim Forsythe

If the polls I posted have no merit, Gary quoting polls have no meaning.

Carlos Ponce

See my reply to Bailey's post, Jim.

Jim Forsythe

Carlos, you have quoted polls in the past. I hope you do not in the future, because you do not believe in them.

Carlos Ponce

Like I posted earlier I don't believe in the numbers given. Add percentage points to the Republican or Conservative candidate or position. Then you will be closer to reality.

Jim Forsythe

Hillary is not running.

Carlos Ponce

And what does that have to do with anything?

Jim Forsythe

Carlos, 4 years ago Hillary was running, she not running this year, so Trump will not get the, not Hillary vote.

You are trying to use polls that have not even been produced. Most polls do not predict the Electoral vote, this far out.

You can not surmise any numbers off of Gary's post.

It's a long way to November and Trump is having trouble with his responses to the oil problem, coronavirus, Middle East, North Korea, Russia.

Anyone of these could cause more people to vote against him.

Bailey Jones

Trump has been extraordinarily lucky. He inherited a booming economy, and, until now, hasn't had to deal with a significant crisis (not counting all the ones he created for himself). And this crisis comes 3+ years into his term. Compare that to Obama, who had to deal with a world wide financial meltdown on day 1. Or Bush, who got hit with 9/11 in his first year.

As I write this, the market is down 5,679 points (19.2%) from a month ago. COVID is officially a pandemic. The Saudis and Russians have decided to have a [censored]-match over oil with the whole US fracking industry as collateral damage.

This is Trump's opportunity to show America what he's make of. And the usual answer to that question - "money" -isn't going to cut it this time.

Carlos Ponce

Jim, how many "not Hillary votes" were there? Doubt there were that many to make a difference.

Jim Forsythe

Bush was able to unite all when 9/11 happened. Trump has not been able to do so.

Carlos Ponce

"Trump has not been able to do so." Well, since we HAVE NOT had another incident like 9-11 during the Trump administration....

Jim Forsythe

Carlos if you remember several on this board said they were voting Trump because they could not vote for Hillary.

This is not verifiable as voting is personal and some do not share. so whatever you think.

Bush was able to unite all when 9/11 happened. Trump has not been able to do so.

Carlos Ponce

And there are those who cannot vote for a Socialist, a senile man, or a candidate who think killing babies is a right.

Jim Forsythe

For decades, studies have found that deterioration in the fluency, complexity, and vocabulary level of spontaneous speech can indicate slipping brain function due to normal aging or neurodegenerative disease. Below is an example.

“People want the border wall. My base definitely wants the border wall, my base really wants it — you’ve been to many of the rallies. OK, the thing they want more than anything is the wall. My base, which is a big base; I think my base is 45 percent. You know, it’s funny. The Democrats, they have a big advantage in the Electoral College. Big, big, big advantage. … The Electoral College is very difficult for a Republican to win, and I will tell you, the people want to see it. They want to see the wall.”

Jim Forsythe

Trump often contradicts himself in mid-sentence; he believes the eighteenth and nineteenth century British had airfields; he thinks drawing an additional line on a NOAA map with a felt-tip marker will fool us into thinking he didn’t make up evidence that Dorian may affect Alabama; he doesn’t remember where his father was born; his constant word salads; his apparent belief that hugging the Flag of the United States of American is evidence he is patriotic; breaking most, if not all, of his campaign promises, then claiming he has kept them all; claiming he has kept North Korea’s nuclear weapons ambitions in check when, in fact, he was played by Kim; etc., etc., etc.,

Jim Forsythe

Trump, who rants on Twitter about how Democrats want to turn us into a “Socialist or Communist Country,” has repeatedly attempted Soviet-style bailouts of failing coal plants. Ohio, a state under unified Republican control, decided to copy him, with a new law that adds taxpayer-funded subsidies for coal-fired and nuclear power plants.

Nor do Republicans cry “socialism” when the treasury secretary lectures U.S. retailers and manufacturers about how and where they should reallocate their supply chains; nor when the president himself lectures firms about what products to stock; nor when the administration tries to get other countries to engage in more centralized economic planning — by, for example, demanding that European political leaders commit private companies to buy more U.S. crops and liquefied natural gas regardless of price, quality or market needs.

You would be hard-pressed to find better recent examples of the U.S. government trying to exert influence, if not outright control, over the means of production, both domestically and abroad.

Carlos Ponce

"eighteenth and nineteenth century British had airfields"

They did. Those air balloons were initially hard to control and needed a wide open field to take off and land.

April 15, 1784: The first ascent of a manned balloon in the British Isles takes place with a hot air balloon at Navan in Ireland.

August 25 & 27, 1784: Scottish apothecary James Tytler makes the first balloon ascents in Great Britain, in a hot air balloon from Edinburgh.

September 15, 1784: Italian Vincenzo Lunardi makes the first hydrogen balloon flight in Britain, from Moorfields in London to South Mimms.

October 4, 1784: Englishman James Sadler makes the first hot air balloon flight in England, from Oxford to Woodeaton.

January 19, 1785: Richard Crosbie successfully flies in a hot air balloon from Ranelagh Gardens to Clontarf, Dublin, Ireland. He goes on to makes several unsuccessful attempts to cross the Irish Sea in a hydrogen-filled balloon.

May 10, 1785: A hot air balloon collides with a chimney in Tullamore in Ireland, setting light to around 100 houses in the town centre. WHOOPS!

October 5, 1785: Vincenzo Lunardi flies in a gas balloon from George Heriot's School, Edinburgh, across the Firth of Forth in Scotland to Ceres, Fife (51.5 km (32 mi) in 1.5 hrs).

November 23, 1785: Lunardi flies from St Andrew's Square, Glasgow, to Hawick in Scotland.

And that's just the 18th Century!

Carlos Ponce

"has repeatedly attempted Soviet-style bailouts of failing coal plants" Soviets used satellite states to purchase their goods. Trump used trade negotiation to get the Chinese to buy more coal.It was done decades prior to Trump. Not the same, Jim.

Carlos Ponce

"he thinks drawing an additional line on a NOAA map with a felt-tip marker will fool us into thinking he didn’t make up evidence that Dorian may affect Alabama" - Still perpetuating that LIE, Jim??????

"Look at the map dated August 29 from an Alabama website at:

https://www.al.com/hurricane/2019/08/could-hurricane-dorian-make-it-into-the-gulf.html

The cone includes parts of Alabama according to this August 29,, 2019 NOAA map.

(This is a REPEAT of my post Carlos Ponce Sep 11, 2019 9:19pm)

Someone at the White House briefing included Alabama to include NOAA's information on Saturday.

Looks like Jim Forsythe was fooled - not by the President but by Liberal Trump haters.

Carlos Ponce

"he doesn’t remember where his father was born" His father considered himself German although born in the USA. But he was of German ancestry.

Carlos Ponce

"hugging the Flag of the United States of America" Demonstrating love to the flag and to the republic for which it stands offends you? Better than setting it on fire or kneeling as the National Anthem is played.[rolleyes] I remember a "Room 222" episode where a man was offended by a student's artwork showing an American Flag going down a toilet. He was invited by the teacher Mr. Pete Dixon to explain why he was offended. Probably went over Jim's head.[rolleyes]

Carlos Ponce

"breaking most, if not all, of his campaign promises, then claiming he has kept them all;" Promises made, promises kept. He even kept promises made by previous presidents like moving the US Embassy to Jerusalem.

Carlos Ponce

Bailey posts "He [Trump] inherited a booming economy..."

Not booming but okay because Obama extended the Bush tax cuts but the economy was stagnate due to over-regulation.

Jim Forsythe

Several times tried to claim his father was born in Germany when it was just as easy, to tell the truth. Even going so far aas saying his father was born in Sweden.

“My father is German — was German,” Trump said. “Born in a very wonderful place in Germany, so I have a great feeling for Germany.”

Trump named the European Union as one of the United States’ biggest foes. “Maybe the thing that is most difficult — don’t forget both my parents were born in E.U. sectors, okay?” he said. “I mean, my mother was Scotland, my father was Germany. And — you know I love those countries.”

And just days before, he made the same claim at a NATO summit in Brussels. “I have great respect for Germany; my father is from Germany,” Trump said. “Both of my parents are from the E.U., despite the fact they don’t treat us well on trade.”

Trump himself pushed this false narrative in “The Art of the Deal,” saying his father had emigrated “from Sweden as a child.”

Jim Forsythe

Trump said, “Our Army manned the air, it ran the ramparts, it took over the airports, it did everything it had to do.”

Hot air balloons were not launched from the airport during this time but located in the placed of need and tethered in place. The did not fly into place but were placed. No airports needed.

As balloon has no engine and has no way to change its direction of movement (except up and down). A balloon travels by moving with the wind. For this reason, they were placed in the exact spot needed.

"From late 1861 to early 1862, right around the time newly appointed General-in-Chief George B. McClellan was organizing and training the Army of the Potomac, Lowe tethered his balloons at locations all along the Potomac River. The balloons were strategically placed to detect the movement of a large army up to a day's march away, providing the Union capital with security while the army prepared."

Jim Forsythe

A second historical error in the speech. Trump’s reference to Fort McHenry and “rockets’ red glare”––the Battle of Baltimore at which the words to the “Star-Spangled Banner” were written––took place during the War of 1812, not the Revolutionary War.

The President has made several history-related errors during his time in office. In 2017, he argued that Andrew Jackson could have prevented the Civil War from happening, when Jackson actually died 16 years before the war started. Referring to the War of 1812 during a tense 2018 phone call with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Trump reportedly said “Didn’t you guys burn down the White House?” However, it was British troops that burned down the White House during the War of 1812, not Canadian forces.

Carlos Ponce

Jim, "Fred Trump, made up the Swedish ancestry after World War II so he wouldn't have problems selling apartments to Jewish buyers on account of his German heritage."

https://theweek.com/speedreads/739921/trump-incorrectly-claimed-swedish-decades

So if his father kept saying he was from Sweden.... And Fred Trump was conceived in Bavaria. Grandpa Friedrich Trump was banished from Germany by Royal Decree for failure to do military service.

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2016/nov/21/trump-grandfather-friedrich-banished-germany-historian-royal-decree

So Fred Trump was conceived in Germany but born in the Bronx, claimed to be Swedish to sell to the Jews.

My father thought he was born in Texas City as his siblings. It was not until he was in the US Navy in WWII that he was told he was born in Mexico. They moved to the United States when he was about 1 year old.

The map you posted said the winds would be less than 30 mph. It was saying no impact on Alabama unless 30mph winds make you worry.

Now you are just making excuses for Trump.

Carlos Ponce

"Andrew Jackson could have prevented the Civil War from happening"

Trump's actual statement: "Had Andrew Jackson been a little bit later, you wouldn’t have had the Civil War".

https://www.npr.org/2017/05/01/526388034/fact-check-could-andrew-jackson-have-stopped-the-civil-war-as-trump-said

Jim Forsythe

It's not logical to think that Jackson would have prevented the Civil War. One he was dead. Two, he had shown no reason for anyone to think that he would have done so.

Jackson never questioned the underlying, fundamental difference between North and South, which was on slavery. He didn't actually disagree with his fellow Southern leaders about that issue. It was much, much harder to compromise as the Civil War broke out in 1861 because the nation was more squarely confronting that issue. Andrew Jackson owned slaves that worked on his plantation in Tennessee.

Carlos Ponce

Jim, the updated map shown during the Saturday briefing merely showed Alabama would be affected.

Carlos Ponce

"It's not logical to think that Jackson would have prevented the Civil War. One he was dead. Two, he had shown no reason for anyone to think that he would have done so."

Apparently Jim failed to read the NPR report nor Trump's actual statement: "Had Andrew Jackson been a little bit later, you wouldn’t have had the Civil War"

"A LITTLE BIT LATER"

No reason to think he would have done so? From the NPR report: "This much is true: Andrew Jackson, who was president from 1829-1837, helped to avert a plausible civil war, generations before the actual one." - from NPR Morning Edition Host Steve Inskeep who wrote a book about Andrew Jackson in 2015, called "Jacksonland".

Jim Forsythe

Donald is not his father, having to hide the truth. Even if D.Trump did not know the truth from his father, he was told the truth from the press. After he made such a stink about Obama and his birthplace, they found Fred's birthplace and reported it. Even if he was not aware after that after each of the times below it was reported.

April 2, 2019 WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump on Tuesday falsely stated his father was born in Germany – the fourth time the president has made such a claim in less than a year.

According to a compilation of the president's remarks by the Washington Post and BuzzFeed, it's at least the fourth time President Trump has falsely stated where his parents were born, a topic that he has brought up while talking about relations and trade with Europe.

Carlos Ponce

Donald Trump repeated what his father Fred Trump told him. If it was not factual, can you blame him for believing his father? Looks like Jim would.

Carlos Ponce

When does life begin? Pro-life people believe life begins at conception. So why would Fred Trump and later his son Donald say he was born in Germany? Because Fred Trump was conceived in Bavaria, Germany and life begins at conception. Understandable if Jim Forsythe doesn't get it. He's not pro-Life but pro- abortion. Jim doesn't understand.[sad]

Jim Forsythe

If I was told many times that my ancestors were not what I had been told by my dad, I would have found out the truth.

That's not hard to do, I have a DNA testing to back up what my father told me. Maybe Trump could not afford it.

He could have also used the Private Investigators he used when trying to find Obama's birthplace

Or, he could have just looked on the internet, as I also have done.

Carlos Ponce

Fred Trump thinks life begins at conception.

Gary Miller

Carlos> A rule of thumb. If Lib Media says GOP is behind 8% a close election is expected. When lib media wants poll with certain result they get it by adjusting who is asked. Asking 15% more Dems than GOP is sure to produce answers favorable to Dems. How do they make sure they get more Dems than GOP? Phone #. Dem districts produce more Dem answers than GOP.

Raymond Lewis

Thanks for this link. Interesting data at this self admitted conservative polling site. I see no stats, however, that show voting patterns or preferences of minority groups. It would be helpful to see some supporting evidence of the information Mr. Miller seems so sure of.

Gary Miller

Raymond. I rarely believe media polls. If they are good news for Trump it usually means the truth is even worse for Liberals. I put these ten media polls in that class.

Gary Miller

Will no one ask why Republicans are turning out in 5% to 20% greater numbers than Democrats in the cacuses and primaries? They are voting on down ballot candidates. Remember 2010? The TEE PARTY recruited and elected 3,000 more candidates than normal. This year the RNC says they are financially stressed supporting 8,000 more candidates than ever before. Down ballot voters and more Republican down ballot candidates than ever before? Even the most dedicated liberal should understand something is going to happen.

Raymond Lewis

If you say so...

Charles Douglas

The Liberals have a candidate who does not know his on name ( O'Biden ). He can't tell his wife from his SISTER, and rarely can remember what state he campaigns in. They say he's running for President, but he frequently bellows out that he is running for the SENATE! He once looked at a man confined to a WHEEL CHAIR, and remarked, " Stand up there and be recognized!" He told a group of people not long ago that his running mate a few years ago was named BARACK AMERICA! Ahhhhhahah. What a candidate!!!! What a President and Leader we'll have! China, Russia, and the rest of the world are licking their chops! China especially since Mr. O'BIDEN and son HUNTER owes them a bunch. See, THIS is why OBAMA told Mr. O'BIDEN, " Joe you do not have to do this" when Joe first asked for his endorsement. OBAMA knew the whole scope, and situation with the man. Now, we are talking about a country ran by BETO, WARREN, BLOOMBERG, KAMALA HARRIS, BUTTIGIEG, & YANG while Joe O'BIDEN set in time out playing with Kid-Putty, Clay and Mattel Toys all day.

Bailey Jones

I'm looking forward to it.

Charles Douglas

You had me fooled Mr. JONES! What you just admitted to would lead others to a different conclusion than what you stated in the past concerning your feeling for this country. Well you know what the Scripture says? " Out of the abundance of the heart .....the MOUTH SPEAKETH!" ( note * The heart of a man is the control center or the decision maker of a man ) Nowwww we know the REAL Mr. Jones. I got to go walk this off for I am highly disappointed. Proverbs 44:21 says God knows the secrets of a man's heart. Now the only way another man will know those secrets is if the man with the secrets or the REAL kind of individual one is dealing with,... is by what is spoken out of that man's mouth! I had it wrong, what can I say. ( shaking my head )( sad ).

Bailey Jones

Nah, Charles. Biden is my 5th choice (after Pete, Amy, Bernie, and Bloomberg). Trump is my 30th choice (after all 28 Democrat contenders, and Joe Walsh).

Ted Gillis

Charles, you posted those same talking points the other day in a different subject conversation. Cut and paste, way to keep it simple, right?

Charles Douglas

Mr. Gillis, don't blame meeeeee, blame Mr. JONES. He is not listening. Anyway faith comes by hearing, and hearing. Very little is gleamed by having heard.

Gary Miller

Why is the Biden "crime family" being investigated by several different agencies in different countries? I think Obama chose him because he knew Biden was corrupt and felt he wouldn't blow the whistle on any thing Obama did. Obama couldn't afford to have an honest man looking over his sholder. I hope Biden is nominated before being indicted in two or more countries.
