In response to the story ("Thousands of UTMB employees face vaccination deadline," The Daily News, Nov. 13): It's way past time when employers should vacillate on their opinions as just how to protect their employees from contacting the "Trump Virus."

With only half of the American population vaccinated, this caused a problem for those workers who must serve every person that requires their attention. This means that they have only a 50/50 chance of surviving the pandemic.

Employers must provide them with health care benefits as part of their salary. We know that servers never did receive decent wages, but because of the pandemic, some of them now are receiving better wages than they had previously. As long as employers remain myopic, the lack of workers will remain with a deficiency.

It's time to relinquish some of their profits and supply their employees with the wages they need and the benefits to insure them that they too just may be able to survive this pandemic.

George Laiacona, leave a person's health concerns between him and his healthcare provider.

Carlos Ponce

No such thing as "Trump Virus".

Bill Broussard

Nope. Think you’re right Carlos. There’s only Trump Prison. You’ll note that there is currently not one single Antifa member indicted.

One the other hand ….” WASHINGTON (Reuters) -A federal judge on Wednesday sentenced the U.S. Capitol rioter nicknamed the "QAnon Shaman" for his horned headdress to 41 months in prison for his role in the deadly Jan. 6 attack by former President Donald Trump's followers.

This just makes my day since it’s just the start of a roll-up

Carlos Ponce

"You’ll note that there is currently not one single Antifa member indicted."

Of course, Bill Broussard, prosecutors were ordered to leave them alone,,,,,but the videos show they were there.

Gary Miller

Bill > Deadly Jan, 6 attack? One killed, unarmed lady shot by capital cop, 3 deaths by natural causes. Any place where over 100,000 people gather is likely to have a few natural deaths.

Gary Miller

Putting a "Trump 2020 virus" label on 2020? The Biden 2021 virus has killed far more Americans than in 2020. Killing Americans, with a virus, in aftghanastan with poor planning or Nationally with sick immigrants, seems to be the only success Biden has had.

Gary Miller

We'll have to wait a while to learn how many Americans die from Biden's poverty policy. Killing jobs will kill people who need them.

Ted Gillis

Have you seen the jobs report Gary? Or are you just continuing to talk out of the backside of your old man pants?

Ted Gillis

Jason Chansley should be the new face of the Republican Party.

Carlos Ponce

Jason Chansley is an actor seeking publicity. His views are not compatible with those of the Republican Party.

Bill Broussard

Here we go again. A publicly stated libertarian lecturing all of us on what republicans as a group think or value.

When I was in graduate school taking abnormal psych the professor stressed that the use of broad generalities ( the Republican Party for example) was diagnostic of a neurotic personality. I suppose my professor was accurate although the ones in really bad shape

Do seem to generalize without boundaries as in knowing the hearts and minds of groups he does not belong to as a member

Get some help my friend and until you’re better, I suggest you not walk under ladders, continue to throw salt over your shoulder, don’t crack any mirrors or step on sidewalk cracks. If that fails, consult Q

Carlos Ponce

Who's the "publicly stated libertarian"?

Larry Grissom

You showed your ignorance when you called it Trumps Virus. Keep your politics to yourself or better yet, move to California where your uneducated bias might fit in.

Ted Gillis

But yet Larry you will let Carlos, the poster above you, continue call it the China virus, which it is not. The term is offensive to most people, but you see no harm in that.

Carlos Ponce

Ted Gillis, a lesson:

Where did the virus originate? Ans. Wuhan, CHINA

Who started calling it the "CHINESE VIRUS"? CNN, CBS, ABC, NBC, MSNBC, etc.

I'd provide a link but they offend you.

Is the term offensive to most people? No. Only to those who hate President Trump because he used the term.

Liberals contend it leads to violence against Asians. No evidence of that.ZERO, ZIP, NADA.

Gary Miller

Ted> I can't think of any reason we should not call the China Virus a China Virus. China gave it to the world and should get known for it.

Walter Dannenmaier

"With only half of the American population vaccinated, this caused a problem for those workers who must serve every person that requires their attention. This means that they have only a 50/50 chance of surviving the pandemic."

George! Really? Which part of the population has only a 50/50 chance of surviving the pandemic? Your math is a bit off here. This is not the Black Death or the Plague of Justinian. But the fear and panic mongers have been wildly successful

Charles Douglas

Any advice Radicals have to give needs to be given to Radicals. Many are jumping Joe China's ship like a bunch of Wood-Rats on a vessel going down for good and all! They held on until they were sure Joe China was in over his head, and was incapable of turning things around!

Joe China's approval rating is in the toilet and so is Kamala's. So are all those he has hired on to help him in this ruse, this hoax, sham, fraud of a Presidency! Everybody who works for him are doing NOTHING! All Hell is in the.process of breaking loose as we sit back and watch! I truthfully predicted everything we see happening now last January right before Joe China got sworn in! NOTHING has worked for him and NOTHING WILL! Everything he touches turns to feces!

Joe is like King Nebuchadnezzar back in Daniel's day in the bible, .. he needs to learn there is a higher power than himself! He has not learned it yet and until he does, NOTHING HE PUTS HIS HANDS ON WILL WORK FOR HIM OR THIS COUNTRY!!!!! Now, I will let the readers be the judge, if I am right or not! Oh we have not seen nothing yet! All the fun is yet to come! I and others will be standing aside saying, " you were told!" Remember this, in EXODUS 10:23 ..When the Land of Egypt was in the same STATE.. similar to where we are going, where they were cursed with three days of complete darkness, it was the Egyptians who could not see during those days, the Israelites went about their business as usual! That is what I intend to do while JOE China tear this nation apart! Let him run gas up to $15 a gallon, I don't care! I'm prepared! " Owe no man Nothing but to love him, for love forfills the whole law." ( Romans 13: 8 ). I'm having the best year in years in the mist of the WORST CONDITIONS OF THIS NATION I have seen or experienced IN DECADES! I'm like those Israelites in EXODUS 10:23. None of that "LEFTIST" "Plantation," " Race- Hustling" BS for me!

Lastly, I would like to give a shout-out to the " HOMIES" in Virginia who LIT this nation on fire a couple of weeks ago which started a RED WAVE WHICH will sweep across this nation politically like Anthrax!

Gary Miller

Charles > Today I paid for Joe China. $2 more at barber shop, $6 more at car wash, $19.61 more for 12 gallons of gasoline. If he was worth $1 it wouldn't be as bad.

Gary Miller

Researchers say the death rate for the China Virus would have been no more than 3 % even if there had been no vaccine. 97 % naturally recover from it.

Gary Miller

Walter > Everyone has a 97% chance of surviving the China Virus. That's the recorded and reported survival rate.

Robert Braeking

Firstly, it is not the employer's responsibility to provide health care for their employees. The practice of providing health insurance for employees was started during the wage and price controls imposed by the over reaching tyrants in government. In order to compete employers added health insurance to their compensation packages to keep their people.

Secondly, it is more properly called the 'Fauci virus' as he is responsible for its development in Wuhan.

Thirdly, you assume that the only way to protect yourself from the virus is vaccination with the non-vaccine. With over 1/3 of the population having recovered from the virus and 50% having been vaccinated, there is only a 33% chance for contracting the disease. Multiply that with the 99% chance of surviving the infection, the odds of 'surviving' the pandemic are 99.66%. Hardly anything to panic about.

Fourthly, as you reiterate, so do I. It is not the employer's responsibility to provide health care benefits. That is a negotiable item in the compensation package. Obviously, you have never done the accounting for restaurant operations. The margins are very slim.

Gary Miller

Robert > I like the sound of China's Fauci Virus. Except Fauci only provided money for it's development.

Charles Douglas

Mr. Miller> Joe China's boss Xi Jinping warned him yesterday during the Virtual Summit not to play with fire, by interfering in his business with Taiwan!!!!! You know Joe Cut-N-Run probably told him, "YES SIR COMRADE!" "I WILL MAKE SURE MY PEOPLE GET IT!" I also heard the Chinese Comrade called Cut-N-Run Joe .....HIS OLD FRIEND!!!!!

Xi Jinping of China & Vladimir Putin of Russia got something on Joe China and Hunter Biden that will blow the lid off if it comes out. This is why Russia will have no problem taking the UKRAINE & China will walk in and take-over Taiwan after thr Olympics, with no American interference! Both of them know if they wait until Trump, Desantis, or Nikki Haley takes over in a few years it will be to late!

Robert Braeking

When Trump builds a building he does not pour the concrete. He pays for it. Same same for Fauci. Since he paid for it he did it.

Curtiss Brown

Carlos hasn't posted today, I guess his computer is broken.

Carlos Ponce

My views have already been stated. Re-posting would prove redundant.

Dan Freeman

Mr. Braeking writes “The practice of providing health insurance for employees was started during the wage and price controls imposed by the over reaching tyrants in government. In order to compete employers added health insurance to their compensation packages to keep their people.” In fact national social health insurance was developed by Otto von Bismarck in 1883. It was part of his plan to create the German state. It continued until the creation of the National Health Service in 1948. It is ranked among the best in the world, with the Germans having low morbidity and mortality. It is generally recognized as superior to the Byzantine system found in the United States.

Robert Braeking

I wasn't speaking of Germany, Mr. Freeman. I was speaking of THIS country.

Gary Miller

Robert . Health care is an employers business only if the negotiated contract calls for it. In some countries like Germany it's a government responcibility.

Robert Braeking

Don't fall into the trap of blurring the distinction between health care and health insurance. Neither is the responsibility of employers nor government. I cannot find one clause in the Constitution that gives that power to the Federal Government. Therefore, I defer to the 8th Amendment. As for the states, the power to provide either is within their power. I know of none that has exercised that power.

George Laiacona

Carlos you have completely avoided the subject by injecting the January 6th traitors raid on our Capital. This particular comment concerns the welfare of the low paid workers that have to take chances every day as to whether one of the customers that they are serving is transferring the Trump Virus to them or not. If they contact the virus, do they have health care benefits or not!

Carlos Ponce

George Lackeycona, I mean Laiacona. I did not inject the January 6th events into the forum. Others did that, namely BILL BROUSSARD. I merely responded to his post.

Bailey Jones

Mark Twain once wrote, "Figures often beguile me...particularly when I have the arranging of them myself; in which case the remark attributed to Disraeli would often apply with justice and force: 'There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics.'"

I've never liked that saying about statistics because I'm a big fan of math. But when I see people reframing the deaths of over 760,000 Americans - the largest mass casualty event in our history - as an insignificant fraction of our population, I see how true it is.

I'm simply baffled that Americans can be so heartless.

Dan Freeman

Only some confused or spiteful Americans minimize 760,000 deaths. The vast majority of us are appalled at this a catastrophe.

The failure to acknowledge it, rather than negotiate a trade deal with the Chinese, began the disaster. The long-term denial of the seriousness made it worse.

Today we have vaccinations that can help reduce the pandemic to something like seasonal flu. It is incredible that anyone who is eligible for vaccination would reject this opportunity to end the pandemic and protect those who cannot be vaccinated.

Carlos Ponce

760,000 deaths should not be minimized but blaming President Trump for those deaths is a fool's errand. But that's the path many Liberals have taken.

Robert Braeking

The majority of those 760,000 deaths could have been prevented very easily had the CDC adopted the many treatment protocols that are available. The CDC guidelines were to stay home and wait until your oxygen saturation approached crisis levels before presenting to the ER. Follow the money. Pfizer, Moderna, and J&J are the beneficiaries.

Ted Gillis

None of what you just stated occurred Robert. My employer which has about 20,000 employees statewide, followed the guidelines of the CDC and we all continued to go to work, while practicing mask wearing, social distancing and daily health screenings. The only ones that "waited" at home, were those that chose to do so. My wife's business also remained open while practicing mask wearing, occupancy levels, social distancing, and twice daily sanitizing of work surfaces. We even gave bonuses to our employees to reward them for their loyalty and to help with their personal needs. This worked well and we all survived. Now we are all vaccinated and boosterized. I'm personally glad to have been a beneficiary of pizer's, mederna's, and j&j's preparedness. And yes, I'm glad that these companies benefited financially, so that they can continue to prepare for the next crisis. I will admit that some industries, like the arts & entertainment for example did suffer, but were given safety nets like extended unemployment benefits, the federal stimulus packages and PPE loans. That some states refused to participate in these helpful programs is a direct response to who is elected to run those states. Remember that point when the next election cycle rolls around. It's great to be an american, right?

Robert Braeking

I was not talking about lockdowns. I was talking about waiting at home to die after diagnosis of Covid positive. There were no treatments offered or even researched. Even now those who are attempting to treat patients are vilified by the establishment group think medical so called experts. They are losing their admitting rights to hospitals and being slandered by the press. This despite the fact that of the thousands of patients treated not one had to be hospitalized and none died.

Ted Gillis

Oh yes, let’s not forget those “Front Line” doctors. As if they didn’t make any money off of this disease too.
