In response to the story ("Thousands of UTMB employees face vaccination deadline," The Daily News, Nov. 13): It's way past time when employers should vacillate on their opinions as just how to protect their employees from contacting the "Trump Virus."
With only half of the American population vaccinated, this caused a problem for those workers who must serve every person that requires their attention. This means that they have only a 50/50 chance of surviving the pandemic.
Employers must provide them with health care benefits as part of their salary. We know that servers never did receive decent wages, but because of the pandemic, some of them now are receiving better wages than they had previously. As long as employers remain myopic, the lack of workers will remain with a deficiency.
It's time to relinquish some of their profits and supply their employees with the wages they need and the benefits to insure them that they too just may be able to survive this pandemic.
