Johnny Smecca and I have a lot in common. Raised families here, served on city council, served on the Park Board of Trustees and more. Having known Johnny for as long as I have — one thing is always consistent with his leadership — committed passion.

It is easy to criticize from the sidelines, but that has never been Johnny's style. Instead, he has routinely gotten involved in efforts with a focus of doing something positive for Galveston. Whenever Johnny has seen an opportunity or wanted to make a positive difference — he gets involved. I have watched his financial and management skills while he served this city on the park board, city council, wharves board, chamber board, economic development board and many citizen advisory boards and committees.

Consistently looking for the best for and from Galveston is a hallmark of his involvement and commitment to Galveston's future. Johnny has a proven track record of rolling up his sleeves and getting to work in making Galveston a better place for all that live, visit or work on this amazing island. Knowing these things makes it easy for me to support Johnny Smecca in his run for GISD School Board District 6-F.
