Mr. Cleveland, sir you are as right about Joe China as East Texas rain. He is only somebody with strings tied to him in order for somebody else to move him from point A to point B! He knew nothing about the submarine deal with Australia that his people shafted France over. Now he is indicating by his statements to the press, that he knows nothing about the $450,000 dollars his Justice Department is proportedly going to pay Illegal Aliens for abuse, and hardships they were supposed to have suffered as they crossed our borders illegally! Question then is, "WHO IS IN CHARGE OF AMERICA?"

He closes down the Keystone Pipeline and kills thousands of American jobs, then he sign off on a Russian pipeline, granting them hundreds of millions of dollars of new money, and the ability to shore up their country, and their military! He is the laughing stock of the world, a hoax, and a clown! Gasoline and Inflation is now sky high here, because of his, and his handlers disastrous economic policies, and he is blaming Russia and Saudia Arabia for not producing more oil, when just a few months ago, America was an ENERGY INDEPENDENT NATION, with all the oil and natural gas we needed. The fact is we were exporting fuel to others until Joe China was engineered into the White House!

The saving grace is,.. the American public seems to be waking up, and pulling their heads out of the sand! Hating a leader because he is arrogant, or he tweets stuff you might like is a whole lot different than turning the country over to a Brain Dead Racist Fool, who knows nothing about leadership, and who naps through world leadership meetings where leaders of other nations are considering issues he bought to the meetings! This man is a Race-Baiter, & a Race-Hustler who turned on his own military by forcing many of them who are conservative minded to get out! He has turned on American parents and school kids, Police officers and medical people because they dare to disagree with his COVID & CRT policies, and this is supposed to be our leader? Everywhere he goes he see Trump behind every tree or corner! Trump lives free in his head! Somebody's phone went off at a Q&A yesterday and Joe goes, "If that is Trump, tell him I'm busy!" Lolo. Pathetic!

Charles Douglas, What is more important oil or water?

Charles Douglas

PAUL WASSERLOOS, what's more important inhaling, or exhaling?

Carlos Ponce

We must excuse PAUL WASSERLOOS. He's been brainwashed, I mean indoctrinated, into thinking you cannot drill for oil without harming the water supply. Bless his ignorant self....[innocent]

Robert Braeking

Not for nothing, but isn't water within 1000' of the surface and oil more than 6000' below? I'm no geologist. Just checking.

The Keystone Pineline goes over the largest natural aquifer in the Nation! The Aquifer supplies water to the farmers in the Pan Handle! Where Keystone Pipe was being planned goes over The White Sands of NE. The water table is about 3 feet below surface. So the Keystone Pipeline was going very important water reserve in the Nation! Most of my clients are in the Oil & Gas field and they agree with me after I explain this too them. Even one who owns a farm in the Pan Handle and is in the Oil & Gas industry in Midland, TX. Now what do you think, now!

Carlos Ponce

Thousands of miles of existing pipelines carry crude oil and refined liquid hydrocarbons have crossed the Ogallala Aquifer for years, in southeast Wyoming, eastern Colorado and New Mexico, western Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas with no problem......

Is Paul Wasserloos contemplating sabotage to make a point?

Gary Scoggin

Paul, as much as it pains me to say this, Carlos is correct. (Except for his snarky comment at the end.) The KXL pipeline will be better constructed and more closely monitored than the existing, older lines. And the Ogalalla is much deeper than three feet. If we were concerned about a 3' potable water table, then every filling station and latrine would pose a threat.

The threat of water contamination as a reason to oppose this pipeline is a bit of a canard. The organized opposition to KXL has its roots in climate change. The genesis of the opposition starts with trying to wean the US off of liquid fuels. That, mixed with the environmental fears of Canadian Oil Sands production is what has given life to the anti-KXL movement.

This leads to another misconception -- the notion that stopping KXL creates more crude imports for the US. Actually the opposite is true. Keystone XL is a crude import pipeline. The crude comes from Canada. Now you can rightfully argue that importing crude from Canada is better than the alternatives for heavy crude such as Venezuela and some parts of the Middle East, but they are imports none the less.

Gary Miller

Some progressives are starting to understand that the Democrat party began it's terminal decline the day Biden was nominated. Progressives spent decades trying to take over the Democrat party and now have Joe Biden destroying what they worked so hard to own in less than two years. Lets go Brandon!!!!

Charles Douglas

Well I know what "Imma" do! I'm going to go to Viginia and spend some time with some straight-up real Americans!! I love me some Virginia!! I mean my White-Black-Brown, & Asian "HOMIES" over there know how to put things in order!!!!! Way to go Virginia, Y'all Rock!!! Hispanic Attorney General, African-American Lieutenant Governor, and A White Governor! We are all brothers and sisters and Virginia just set all the Radical LEFTIST .."Race-Baters" & "Race-Hustlers " straight! I feel good today!!! I SAID I FEEL GOODDDDDDDDDDDDDDD TODAY![beam][beam]

Charles Douglas, In the summer of 2020 a pipeline being built in the hill country leaked and contemned the aquifer and it is still is!

George Laiacona

This is merely another Disgruntled Republican that is definitely unhappy that we have a Democrat in the White House. Since the Republican traitors invaded the Congress on January 6th they have been trying to get the American voters to concentrate on anything else. That’s why the negative comments regarding what the Democrats are trying to accomplish at this time. They don’t bother to mention the stimulus checks they received from the Democrats. Nor do they mention the efforts of the Democrats to rid our country of the Trump Virus. Or how they are trying to be of value to the lower classes of Americans by legislating a infrastructure package or another stimulus package for all Americans. Propaganda from the Republicans will always be here, you can read it in our news paper almost every day .

Carlos Ponce

"Since the Republican traitors invaded the Congress on January 6th "

CNN reported DEMOCRATS entering the Capitol on January 6th, and NON-VOTERS, George Laiacona.

So by George Laiacona's standards, DEMOCRATS are TRAITORS.

Jim Forsythe

Any traitor who invaded the Congress on January 6th, needs to be prosecuted.

Carlos Ponce

What about someone who actually BOMBED the Capitol building, Jim?

Jim Forsythe

You are digressing from the 2021 Capital take over. Which did have people with explosives, but they were stopped before they used them.

Yes they should face justice. Anyone that tries' to over through the government, should face justice.

Do you mean the M19 booming or the Armed Resistance Unit booming?

Some involved did receive a pardon, which happens when Presidents leave office.

Pardons are part of our system of justice.

Carlos Ponce

"Which did have people with explosives, but they were stopped before they used them." They weren't identified, Jim. And who exactly planted the explosives? They were found at the Democrat and Republican headquarters.

Oh, and by the way, the man who set off explosives at the Capitol Building became Obama's neighbor and friend. Also a professor at the University of Chicago. No jail time.

Jim Forsythe

Ayers was part the Weather Underground during the 60's and 70's. Ayers and his wife participated in some of the early bombings, but criminal charges against them were dropped in 1974 due to illegal evidence-gathering activities by authorities. It's not Ayers fault that authorities screwed up. Obama did not have a close relationship with Ayers. You are trying to use guilt by association .

The M19 bombings and the Armed Resistance Unit bombings were in the 80"s

Jan.8, 2021 A Falkville man is one of 13 facing federal charges following Wednesday's riot at the U.S. Capitol in Washington D.C. Lonnie Coffman, 70, was taken into custody after firearms and 11 explosive devices were found in his vehicle.

Nowhere have I said anything about party. If a person does wrong, they need to pay the price.

Carlos Ponce

"Obama did not have a close relationship with Ayers."

From Snopes:

"Ayers hosted a meet-the-candidate gathering at his home as Barack Obama prepared to run for his initial election to the Illinois state senate (although Ayers later said he didn’t even know Obama at the time), the two worked with the same charity and social service organizations in Chicago (particularly the Chicago Annenberg Challenge), and Ayers contributed $200 to Obama’s re-election campaign for the Illinois state senate in 2001."

So terrorist Ayers holds a meet the candidate event for Obama in his home and helped finance his campaign and worked with Obama in charity and social service yet Ayers said he did not know Obama.... and Jim believes.[rolleyes]

Robert Braeking

The traitors were already in session on Jan 6.

Jim Forsythe

Carlos, if you are concerned about who Obama may have had a passing interaction with, I'm sure you are also upset about the following.

“In those days, if you didn’t know Trump and you didn’t know Epstein, you were a nobody,” said attorney Alan Dershowitz, who’s served as a lawyer for both men.

Trump hosted a party at his Mar-a-Lago club in 1992. The guest list? Epstein, Trump, and 28 “calendar girl” competition contestants. Ten years later, Trump told New York Magazine that he’d known Epstein for 15 years. “Terrific guy,” said Trump.

Trump received an endorsement from former Gambino family underboss Salvatore " Sammy the Bull" Gravano, who said that America "doesn't need a bookworm as president, it needs a mob boss."

According to a former Cohn employee, Trump and Salerno met face-to-face at Cohn's townhouse. Salerno was later indicted on racketeering charges for an $8 million concrete deal made for a Trump development.

During a 2013 appearance on David Letterman's late night show, Trump admitted to having met mobsters "on occasion." "They happen to be very nice people," Trump said. "You just don't want to owe them money."

These are just a few of relationships, Trump has had.

Gary Miller

Jim> If they can prove they were there they have a good chance of being elected.

Carlos Ponce

"Trump hosted a party at his Mar-a-Lago club in 1992. The guest list? Epstein..."

Everyone in Pal Springs invited Epstein to parties.

Was Donald Trump an elected official in 1992 or running for office? No. So who cares who a PRIVATE CITIZEN invites? Only Jim.....

In 1992, Trump was divorced and had the Buffalo Bills Cheerleaders over for a party. Epstein hinted he wanted in so was added to the guest list. You have to remember Donald Trump BANNED Jeffrey Epstein from Mar a Lago.

Jim Forsythe

Presidents that have history of dealing with mobsters , sex offenders (Epstein) many times should not complain about other that have a passing interaction with someone.

Newly unsealed flight logs show Trump flew on Epstein’s private plane at least once, in 1997.

2000: Trump enters the presidential race. In 2002, Trump said, “I’ve known Jeff for 15 years. Terrific guy.” this included the time he was running for President. It also included the time he flew on Epstein’s private plane.

Carlos Ponce

"Newly unsealed flight logs show Trump flew on Epstein’s private plane at least once, in 1997."

1997 - Was Donald Trump an elected official? No. He went to Puerto Rico.

Bill Clinton took 27 trips on Epstein's plane. His press secretary reported at least 4 instances in post presidency, meaning Secret Service accompanied him. Why doesn't Jim Forsythe mention THAT?????

Gary Scoggin

Why didn't Jim mention Clinton? Because that wasn't the topic of the thread. But it doesn't surprise me. Clinton, just like Trump, is a narcissist that preyed on vulnerable women.

Carlos Ponce

The topic of the forum was Biden. It was not until PF mentioned him that President Trump entered the discussion. Paula wrote about President Trump but I can't write about Clinton????

Jim Forsythe

2000: Trump entered the presidential race, and was still friends with Epstein . Trump was not elected President at that time, because he had no support and dropped out because he knew he would lose.

All President meet people that they have not idea what they do in real life. Trump knew about Epstein.

Mar-a-Lago hosted the infamous “Calendar Girl Club” where Epstein and Trump were both in attendance.

Epstein was the one who introduced Trump to his current wife, Melania.

Donald Trump appointed two noteworthy connections to Jeffrey Epstein to his cabinet after he was inaugurated. The first was Alex Acosta, the U.S. attorney responsible for negotiating a ridiculously lenient plea deal with Jeffrey Epstein in 2008. Trump appointed him Secretary of Labor in 2017.

Donald Trump also appointed the U.S. Attorney General William Barr, whose father hired Jeffrey Epstein to teach at The Dalton School.

Epstein donated $184,276 to politicians which is what a lot of donators do. They donate $2,000 to one candidate, and more to other candidates. Donations given to a candidates, may not even be known to them.

Ayers contributed $200 to Obama’s re-election campaign that Obama most likely did not even know of the donation.

Carlos you try and make a big deal out of Ayes passing relationship with Obama, but Trump was good friends with Epstein for many, many years.

Carlos Ponce

Jim Forsythe, 2000 is three years before Donald Trump entertained the thoght of running for president.

Was he an elected official in 1997??? No.

No one cares... except Jim Forsythe.

Gary Scoggin

I think all the young girls molested by Epstein care.

Carlos Ponce

Donald Trump was a one time passenger aboard Epstein's plane. Donald Trump was not involved in a trip to Lolita Island. The flight manifest showed them landing in Puerto Rico. The young girls are more concerned with Epstein, not Donald Trump.

Jim Forsythe

Carlos, you said "2000 is three years before Donald Trump entertained the thought of running for president." which is not true.

2000: Trump enters the presidential race as a Reform Party candidate and receives more than 15,000 votes in the party's California primary. He was still friends with Epstein.

2016: Trump wins because of The Electoral College. Trump appointed William Barr and Alex Acosta to his cabinet, because of connections to Epstein.

2020:Trump loses for the second time. Trump received 74,216,154 in the popular vote to Biden's 81,268,924.

Photographs and videos show Epstein and Trump posing together at the mansion in 1992, 1997 and 2000. The two were also pictured together, with model Ingrid Seynhaeve, in 1997 at a Victoria’s Secret party in New York City.

Trump used to comp Epstein’s mother and aunt at one of Trump’s Atlantic City casino hotels.

Donald Trump, Melania Trump, Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell at Mar-a-Lago in Florida in 2000. They were photographed together.

Trump dined at Epstein’s Upper East Side Manhattan mansion in 2003. “The dialogues are so engaging,” Epstein said “that serving even the most extraordinary food sometimes seems inappropriate.”

Carlos Ponce

No one cares, Jim.[yawn][yawn][yawn][sleep]

James Cleveland should be a fiction writer.

Naw..Naw Mr. Cleveland is a real one! He is a real writer who tells it like it is! Lolo. I like his stuff! Lololo.

Stimulus Checks? The DEMS are talking about giving $ 450, 000 dollar payout to Illegals who are violating our laws to come here! That is the very reason I would not spend a dime of the CRUMBS they sent out to Americans who lives here! I don't take DEMOCTATIC crumbs, that is why I left the LEFTIST Plantation so many years ago!

I put two thousand dollars of my money with those crumbs and sent them to NICARAGUA by one of my Missionary Minister Partners to help the Widows, Orphans and the Poor! If they send more crumbs, the same thing is going to happen, maybe this time to Guatemala, or Kenya! I got Missionaries in both places! I don't deal with Democratic Crumbs! If they send me some real money like they are planning on giving these ILLEGALS, I will give much of that away too, but I might go out to dinner on part of it! However, again, I DONT DEAL WITH DEMOCRATIC CRUMBS! [innocent][beam]

Gary Miller

Charles > My Checks were forwarded to T2T. Any others will get same.

Emman Sull

George is OK with the Democrats giving a $450,000 dollar payout to Illegals who are violating our laws. Just WOW!

Paula Flinn

The Trump Administration took their children away from them, separated the children from their families, and some children got lost in the system and never returned to their parents. How much do you think a child is worth?

Carlos Ponce

The Trump administration used the same criteria used by the Obama administration. Take children from:

1. People who were not their parents.

2. People who exhibited physical abuse towards their children.

3. People who had a criminal warrant and were bound for jail/prison.

According to Obama's DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson as with Trump's DHS Secretary Kirsten Nielson.

Looks like Paula would :

1. Keep children with child traffickers/abductors

2. Keep children with abusive parents

3. Throw the children into the same jail/prison with their parent(s).

Gary Miller

Inflation is a tax. America's lower income hurt first to pay the inflation tax. Fact? 6 Republicans arrested for attending the Jan 6th rally won elections Feb 2. Two dozen more are trying to win primaries next November. Democrats were terrified by what Republicans thought was a happy Trump rally. Democrat attacks on Republicans at the rally is creating Republican (Trump) voters.

Charles Douglas

Stimulus Checks!!! ....They got to send more than what they sent to stimulate me! I'm not saying,....BUT I'm just saying!![beam]

Emman Sull

Damn right Democrats are ruining America. And we're not taking it anymore as shown in the Virginia election. I wonder how many "white supremacists" voted for Winsome Sears, the first black, female, lieutenant governor in Virginia. Not a word from Democrats to celebrate Sears. Democrats are racist, full of hate, and hypocrites. Blacks, Hispanics and Asians will help republicans take back Congress in 2022 and Trump in 2024!!!

Charles Douglas

Emman Sull> Absolutely!!!!!![thumbup][thumbup]

Jim Forsythe

Emman Sull, make sure I have it right, Democrats are racist, full of hate, and hypocrites because they did not celebrate Sears win. You do know who the Democratic candidate was?

Most political parties do not celebrate, when the other party wins. Did you celebrate Bidens or Obamas win? Since Sears won, she must have carried the white supremacists vote.

Carlos Ponce

So voting for a Black candidate makes one a "white supremacist"???? [rolleyes]

Jim Forsythe

You do know who Sears Democratic candidate was?

Carlos Ponce

As a Texan, why would we be interested on who lost?

Jim Forsythe

As you complain about Democrats' not supporting the winner, you need to know who lost, to be able to go along with a statement that Democrats'

are are racist, full of hate, and hypocrites and a "white supremacist".

The same reason Texan maybe interested in who lost, leads to the question , why would a Texan be interested in who won?

Carlos, did you celebrate when Obama won twice? If anyone did not celebrate when Obama won are they a racist, full of hate, and hypocrites and a "white supremacist"?

Of course not, as we all have the right to not be excited about who wins and not celebrate when your party loses.

Carlos Ponce

'why would a Texan be interested in who won?' I'm not. But she came up in this forum. What you do not or refuse to understand is Republicans do not vote for a person based on race or ethnicity. That is strictly a Democrat Party meme.

George Laiacona

Of course the FOX Republican propaganda station is going to try and blame the Democrats for the January 6th Republican traitors attack on the capital. But we all saw what really took place. Republicans traitors to our democracy.

Carlos Ponce

The Democrat Party is not being blamed for the events of January 6. Democrats are being blamed for blowing this out of proportion, using hyperbole and downright lying to gain a political edge.

Now compared to what Liberals did during the "Summer of Love": killing, maiming attacking police, trying to blind them with lasers, setting Federal courthouses on fire, etc, what happened on January 6th doesn't even come close. Those who did bad will be tried and punished but they've arrested some who never set foot in the Capitol. The majority were selfie-taking grandmas and grandpas.

Charles Douglas

The Radical LEFT is very skilled at lying, fabricating, and making up stuff! They have been riding the backs of African-Americans and Hispanics for decades using Race-Baiting, & Race-Hustling Rhetoric to mobilize them to blindly protest, raise hell, & vote for their power scams, fake hope & invisible promises! They are willing to do more for illegals crossing the border with NO INVESTMENTS in this country than what they are willing to do for the poor Americans & Veterans of all colors on the streets living here!

They have been lying & perpetuating false charges of Russian Conspiracy against Trump for years, swearing when they knew they were lying! Now the hammer is falling and many of them are being charged for their parts in the scam of trying to usurp the will of Americans who elected the President of their choice in a Democratic Election!

Now they are "Fabricating" and making up stuff again by claiming a White Supremacist move by Conservatives was made on this country on the date of January 6th! They had a minority security individual who shot and killed an unarmed protestor graveyard dead, and they hid the gunman out for months with no explanation of who He was or WHY,....he decided to use a firearm, instead of a less lethal weapon like mace, a baton, or a taser to stop an UNARMED, female protestor, who was not threatening deadly force against anyone!

The DEMS are weaponizing the Red China Virus to make an all out move toward setting up a permanent one party, socialist power base in America! They are systematically purging our military academies, & our military branches, everyday of conservatives who will rebell against Socialism, CRT, & a one party rule! It is time for real Americans like those in Virginia, to wake the [censored]..up!!!!

Our country is on the verge of being destroyed by a WOKE RADICAL LEFT party who while Russia and China are growing stronger everyday, developing militaries for war, Joe China & his Liberal Lackies are dividing our militaries, our school children, and turning the Justice Department and the FBI loose on parents of Children who object to their kids being taught Racial Hate toward each other in the name of equity! That is convoluted BS and all real Americans knows that! Virginia has lit the torch, and the fire will surly follow ...from the East coast to the West Coast, and of that the world can be sure!

Gary Scoggin

Charles, you make Virginia sound like a landslide. Youngkin got 50.6% of the votes. That means that 49.4% didn't vote for him. A comfortable margin of victory, I suppose but short of a huge mandate.

Carlos Ponce

In a Blue State with Norther Counties populated by DC bureaucrats, 50.6% has the same effect as a landslide.

Gary Scoggin

Carlos --- I accept your reasoning. Therefore, when Joe Biden beat Donald Trump 51.3% to 46.9%, it was a huge landslide. I'm glad you finally realize that.

Carlos Ponce

Wait for it, Gary Scoggin..... [beam]

Jim Forsythe

Presidents require protection which does not come cheap. Remember how much money was spent on security at Trump Tower, because his wife and son did not move to DC, for months. The amount of less than $500,000 for Bidens security, is one of the smaller amounts in a long time.

While Lyndon B. Johnson was in office the government spent about $120,000 (approximately $825,000 in today’s dollars) on securing his Texas properties.

In total, the government spent more than $1 million on improving Nixon’s private estates, including $224,000 on landscaping and paving at Nixon’s two properties. (That’s more than $5.4 million, total, in today’s dollars.) Most of the work was for security purposes, although some items, such as the flagpoles requested by a military aide, were not

Even before taking office, Trump cost USA tax payers Millions. President Trump: The federal government has agreed to give New York City $7 million to cover the extra costs of helping to secure Trump Tower for the weeks between the election and the inauguration,

Carlos Ponce

"Presidents require protection which does not come cheap." Asking for a wall of protection for his home but denying continuing the border barrier reeks of hypocrisy.

Carlos Ponce

My post was a response to Jim Forsythe.

Jim Forsythe

Since Biden promised to halt building Trump's border wall, it would be Biden not fulfilling his promise, if he had not stopped the building of the border wall.

The Department of Homeland Security are installing the fence around Bidens house. Biden did not ask for it.

Carlos Ponce

Break promise = save the country.

Keep promise = destroy the country. Already we have murders committed by the newly arrived.

Jim Forsythe

So unless a President does what you want, they are destroying the country. About 50% of the USA population, do not want the wall. Are they un American or just have a different idea what to do about immigration,

Until we have non partisan immigration reform, will will have these different point of views about what we need to do about immigration.

Carlos Ponce

Biden also promised no pandemic mandates. He sure didn't keep that promise. There's a lot of things Pende Joe promised but went the opposite way.

Jim Forsythe

These are just a few of President Bidens Promises. All Presidents set a bar that is impossible to complete. Many of his promises are being worked on or they are not on the top of the list to start.

Carlos Ponce

Really Jim?

"Award federal contracts to companies that make all products in US-- White House moves on new Buy American guidelines | June 21, 2021"

It's Deja vu all over again!

"On July 15, 2019, President Trump signed an Executive Order requiring regulations implementing the Buy American Act, 41 U.S.C. §§ 8301-8305.

The BAA (Buy American Act) requires the government to purchase products 'manufactured in the United States substantially all from articles, materials, or supplies mined, produced, or manufactured in the United States.'41 U.S.C. § 8302(a)(1).

Now, Jim, get out your Biden doll and pull the string: "COME ON, MAN!"

The same can be said about the good things on your list, already implemented by some previous administration.

Carlos Ponce

Want another one, Jim?????

"Guarantee 12 weeks paid family and medical leave-- Paid family leave is back in the Democrats’ reconciliation bill | November 5, 2021'

"Federal employees will soon be eligible for paid parental leave under a measure President Donald Trump signed Dec. 20, 2019.

Military service members already may take 12 weeks of paid leave to care for a new child, and under this bill, 2.1 million civilian federal workers also will be able to take paid leave to care for a new baby after birth, adoption or the start of foster care.

The Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) requires large organizations to offer employees up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave to care for a new child, sick relative or their own illness. Although a growing number of states have passed or are considering paid family leave laws, there is no nationwide equivalent.

"Allow import of prescription drugs from other countries-- Biden's executive order includes push for drug importation, but experts question feasibility | July 13, 2021"

Ahem..... "Friday, September 25, 2020 (Kaiser News) -- President Donald Trump, outlining his “America First Health Plan” on Thursday, announced that his administration will allow the importation of prescription drugs from Canada.

Carlos Ponce

"Rejoin Iran nuclear deal -- Preliminary talks underway to revive the Iran nuclear deal | June 22, 2021"

He can have that one but Obama did it first. Both moves were BAD.

Carlos Ponce

"Resume ties with the Palestinian Authority-- Biden keeps promise to resume ties with the Palestinian Authority | June 10, 2021"

The Palestinians will then take the money, buy weapons to attack Israel. Do you think this is good?[rolleyes]

Carlos Ponce

"Offer universal preschool to 3- and 4-year-olds-- Biden includes universal preschool proposal in American Families Plan | June 14, 2021"

Sounds familiar....

"The omnibus spending bill President Donald Trump signed on March 23 comes with significant increases in federal funding for child care and preschool assistance to low-income families. The spending bill nearly doubles, to $5.22 billion, the amount available for child care vouchers through the Child Care and Development Block Grant program, which is administered by the states. It also increases the amount of money available to Head Start, a federally run preschool program for 3- and 4-year-olds."

Carlos Ponce

"Reauthorize the Violence Against Women Act-- Violence Against Women Act reauthorization passes House, heads to Senate | June 9, 2021"

Reauthorize says it all.... it's been done before.

What did Trump add to it?

"Trump issues executive order to create taskforce on violence against indigenous women"

Jim Forsythe

The above post is in response to James Cleveland.

Ed Buckner

I'm certainly not happy about it, but the Democratic loss in VA and close call in NJ should indeed be seen as wake-up calls for us progressives/liberals/socialists. We can correctly blame corporate-owned Dem Senators like Manchin and Sinema in part, but it also in significant part because the right-wing wackos are very good at spin and propaganda and Dems like Terry MacAuliffe are terrible at it. MacAuliffe was of course correct that parents should not be able to dictate curricula--but he should have started by noting, accurately, that parental opinion and involvement is crucial to children's education. And the Dems really do have to come up with better ways to counter the lies being spread around about critical race theory. George Laiacona's comment are, as always, thoughtful and appropriate.

Carlos Ponce

"We can correctly blame corporate-owned Dem Senators like Manchin and Sinema in part"

Note to Ed Buckner, neither Manchin nor Sinema were running in either state. Terry MacAuliffe acted as if he were running against President Trump. And then there was that comment about parents and schools. MacAuliffe is responsible for his defeat.

It was Terry McAuliffe who lied about CRT in Virginia Schools. His administration promoted it. Want to see the documents?

Republicans don’t teach right and wrong or is just wrong! Good election integrity. Oh They didn’t arrest him or charge him with anything I guess when your daddy’s high republican you can get away with anything

Carlos Ponce

He didn't vote at all because he's too young but was given an application for voter registration. "The man did not vote. He made no false statements. He did not disrupt voting. Based upon information available to me now, it appears that he committed no election offense as defined in Chapter 10 of the Elections Code," an election spokesman reported. Even WAPO says he committed no offense. But domenico wants him arrested and charged.

domenico nuckols

Carlos, I said he attempted to vote. Under Virginia election code an attempt is the same as voting. It was a state election not federal.

domenico nuckols

He presented his drivers license. That’s attempt to defraud.

Carlos Ponce

Let's see what the Liberal Washington Post wrote:

"The 17-year-old son of Virginia Gov.-elect Glenn Youngkin (R) tried to cast a ballot in Tuesday’s gubernatorial election twice despite being too young to vote, Fairfax County officials said in a statement released Friday.

The statement, which identified the teen as Youngkin’s 17-year-old son, emphasized that he did not end up voting and stated that he did not violate any state election laws. The Washington Post is not publishing the teen’s first name because he is a juvenile and has not been charged with a crime.

The teen walked into the voting precinct inside the Great Falls Library on Tuesday, presenting his driver’s license to election officials when asked for a proof of identity, according to Jennifer Chanty, the precinct captain there.

Chanty said in an interview with The Post that she realized who the teen was when she looked at his ID. Upon seeing his age, she said she informed him that he must be at least 18 to be eligible to vote in Virginia. Under Virginia’s election laws, the only time 17-year-olds can vote is in a primary election if they’ll be 18 by the time of the general election.

She said she offered to register him to vote for the next election, but the teen declined and walked out.

About 20 minutes later, the teen returned, insisting that he be allowed to vote, saying that a friend who was also 17 had been allowed to cast a ballot, Chanty said.

“I told him, ‘I don’t know what occurred with your friend, but you are not registered to vote today. You’re welcome to register, but you will not be voting today,’ ” Chanty, a Democrat, recalled saying. While Chanty had recalled the events as occurring Tuesday afternoon, a copy of her notes she took at the time showed she recorded the encounters as occurring in the morning.

Devin O’Malley, a spokesman for Youngkin, issued a statement Friday.

“It’s unfortunate that while Glenn attempts to unite the Commonwealth around his positive message of better schools, safer streets, a lower cost of living, and more jobs, his political opponents — mad that they suffered historic losses this year — are pitching opposition research on a 17-year old kid who honestly misunderstood Virginia election law and simply asked polling officials if he was eligible to vote; when informed he was not, he went to school,” O’Malley wrote.

Scott O. Konopasek, the head of Fairfax’s elections office, said it doesn’t appear that the teen violated any state election laws.

“The man did not vote. He made no false statements,” Konopasek said. “He did not disrupt voting. Based upon information available to me now, it appears that he committed no election offense as defined in Chapter 10 of the Elections Code.”

Under Virginia law, any election-law-related allegations are required to be forwarded to the local prosecutor’s office to determine whether charges should be filed.

“We don’t have a comment because we have yet to receive anything from the registrar,” said Ben Shnider, a spokesman for Fairfax County Commonwealth’s Attorney Steve Descano.

“It was just weird,” she said. “He was very insistent that he wanted to vote in this election and I said, ‘Well, you’re not old enough.’ ’’

But, Chanty said, she thought the teen’s efforts were simply misguided.

“Teenagers do stupid things,” Chanty said. “I’ll chalk it up to that. I’ll believe that first before anything else.”

Ed Buckner

I don't subscribe to Andrew Sullivan's newsletter (too much pouring in over my transom as it is), but I do read his stuff occasionally. Today's take on parents and the Virginia election is the strongest case I've seen against the excesses of CRT:

Ed Buckner

Some of us--me, anyway--are firmly committed to removing statues glorifying traitors like Robert E Lee or to avoid explicitly wallowing in the Lost Cause and the need to put our women (I mean, Ladies) on pedestals, and the like. AND horrified at tearing down Lincoln or Grant statues or throwing out any historic leader ever who didn't devote his life to abolition. Nuance and complexity and liberality and tentativeness MUST accompany socialism for socialists like me.

Robert Braeking

Mr. Buckner. One has to decide who the real traitor is. The circumstances that caused the South to secede could have been settled diplomatically. Lincoln and his army decided that the only recourse was to start a shooting war. A war that was the bloodiest in American history. When the government of the people, by the people and for the people becomes a government of tyrants against the people, then who is the traitor? The patriot or the tyrant?

Although the question is different, we are experiencing tyranny once again with mandates and unlawful directives. An executive proclamation does not have the force of law regardless of the question. As in 1862, the President, properly, should seek the action of Congress. We do not appoint kings to our executive. Lest we repeat history, we are attempting diplomacy. I see that the vaccine mandate has been stayed by the courts.

‘Those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it.’ - Santayana

Gary Scoggin

“Those who think about nothing but the past are also doomed to repeat it.” - P.J. O’Rourke

Ed Buckner

Mr. Braeking, deciding who the real traitor is is indeed not automatic, but there is an overwhelming amount of evidence that you are mistaken. Reading the book, "Robert E Lee and Me: A Southerner's Reckoning with the Myth of the Lost Cause" (2020), by Ty Seidule, with an open mind would persuade you. I agree with you that the modern era of American government has, erroneously I think, shifted too much power to the executive in some important ways. Executive orders vary greatly, but large #s of them are doubtful (both Obama and Trump exceeded 200--and for Trump that was in only one term--see https://www.presidency.ucsb.edu/statistics/data/executive-orders for much more), but that hardly makes one a tyrant. If vaccine mandates are in fact needed for public health that does not mean they are tyrannical any more than mandates--legislative, preferably, I agree--denying drivers the right to drive drunk.

Robert Braeking

Mr Buckner. You are missing not only the bullseye but the target entirely. If, and that is a big if, the so-called vaccine were safe and effective, AND, congress enacted legislation requiring it for public health, THEN, I would consider it. But it does not prevent infection, does not prevent virus shedding, and does not prevent death. It does have nasty side effects. If in your situation it is indicated, then by all means take it.

Biden's 'Vaccination Proclamation' is no more legal than Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation.

BTW - A lot of Trump's EO's were to negate Obama's EO's.

Ed Buckner

Mr. Braeking, it is not me who is missing the target but you. The vaccines against Covid-19 are imperfect (as are prohibitions against drunk driving) but the vaccines dramatically improve the odds for health for this who get them and also improve the probability of health for the others in the community. Vaccines do have some nearly always minor side effects (see https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/expect/after.html?s_cid=10535:%2Badverse%20%2Breactions%20%2Bto%20%2Bcovid%20%2Bvaccine:sem.b:p:RG:GM:gen:PTN:FY21) but are still an extremely good bet.

Executive orders are quite frequently just reversals of earlier EOs (by all presidents) and that is one of the reasons for strongly preferring legislation.

What is your definition of treason?

If you honestly think Lincoln was the traitor rather than Lee, do you think (I'm asking, not trying to blame you for opinions you don't hold)--

1. The Civil War was not in significant part fought over slavery

2. Slavery is acceptable and moral

3. Race-based slavery is better than slavery in general

4. It is fair and reasonable for States to have increased electoral power based on some fraction of the number of slaves there owned, even though the slaves were unable to cast votes?

Ed Buckner

BTW, Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation was not immediately effective--it applied to States in rebellion and not under Lincoln's control--but it was in the long run an appropriate and effective act of war--and a key precedent leading to the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments.

Ed Buckner

Mr. Braeking, I just realized that you may not know me well enough to know my own answers to the questions I asked you, and I have no desire to mislead. So here are my answers (which may not differ from yours, of course)--

What is your definition of treason?

If you honestly think Lincoln was the traitor rather than Lee, do you think (I'm asking, not trying to blame you for opinions you don't hold)--

Treason: Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. Art III, Sec 3 of US Constitution

1. The Civil War was not in significant part fought over slavery--it was not entirely about slavery, but slavery was a major cause, according to both sides, from the beginning.

2. Slavery is acceptable and moral--it is plainly immoral and unacceptable, IMNHO.

3. Race-based slavery is better than slavery in general--it is in fact somewhat worse, though even non-race-based slavery is quite immoral.

4. It is fair and reasonable for States to have increased electoral power based on some fraction of the number of slaves there owned, even though the slaves were unable to cast votes? It is not and never was--paying that price to win support for the Constitution may have been necessary--but it was unwise and unreasonable, a stain on American principles of freedom and equality.

I'd be quite interested to know your views, Mr. Braeking, however much they differ from mine.

Ted Gillis

We should seize his laptop!

Charles Douglas

There are a lot of us, like the patriots in Virginia, and others across this nation as noted by the different elections held last Tusesday, who are committed to removing Living Traitors in this nation who are committed to the destruction of it! We are tired of talking, and so it is time for action! It was time to come up with something the Radical Woke of this nation understands!

So then last Tuesday, we did not blow SMOKE,....and we did not JOKE, we just showed the world that it was time to butt-kick the RACE- HUSTLING WOKE!!!!!!! [beam][beam]

Ed Buckner

Everyone knows that CNN is just a collection of leftists/commies/socialists/Trump-haters, right? But why are REPUBLICAN leaders--elected public leaders, not just GOP has-beens or fringe folks--complaining about the serious threat to American Democracy? You should watch--

Robert Braeking

Mr. Buckner, I was not making a value judgement but, rather, asking the question. Lee merely was the military leader of the Confederate army. Lincoln was the President of the United States who, as you say, through his proclamation declared war on the south. I would argue that it was not appropriate. Had he peacefully sought diplomatic remedies for the grievances of the South by meeting with his counterpart, Jefferson Davis, the war could have been avoided.

1. The 3/5 compromise was the North’s diluting the representative power of the South. The South agreed with the clause but begrudgingly.

2. Slavery is an abhorrent practice and it was waning in popularity long before the secession. Lincoln’s desire to end slavery abruptly without consideration of the devastation that such a proclamation would have on the agricultural industry of the South is the main bone of contention. His abruptness effectively removed the means of production for all planters. It would be akin to outlawing the burning of coal in the industrial north. Without coal the boilers and foundries would be idled.

3. Would that the 13th amendment were proposed and ratified without the threats of Lincoln’s proclamation, secession may not have been necessary. That would have been the proper, constitutional, and moral way to abolish slavery.

4. The President is not a Monarch. He cannot declare with the stroke of a pen that every person in his kingdom submit to a great biological experiment without the proper enactment of the Congress. He has no kingdom and no proclamation authority. He must adhere to the 9th Amendment and limit his activity solely to his enumerated powers. (Ratified Dec 15, 1791)

Ed Buckner

The actual sequence of events and chronology get in your way, Mr. Braeking. (See https://www.nps.gov/gett/learn/historyculture/civil-war-timeline.htm for a concise listing.) The war was already well under way by the time Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation, and of course the Southern forces fired first, at Ft Sumter. Now, let's turn to the items--

1. The 3/5 compromise allowed slaveholding states to count a major fraction of the number of slaves as if they were people, yet treated them as people in no other way. Should States with more cattle get higher representation in Congress? This is not, please note, merely a matter of voting rights. Women and children counted in all States but had no vote--but were considered people and did have rights. Slaves did not.

2. Slavery is abhorrent--we agree. The "waning" part is far less credible. The US South was behind the rest of the Western world and showed no evidence of giving up the practice. The secession documents, as well as the infamous Cornerstone Speech, show a strong commitment to persisting and protecting the peculiar, race-based, institution.

3. There was in fact no possibility that the 13th, 14th, or 15th Amendments would pass before the bloody Civil War--they barely passed even then. One cannot honestly read the secession declarations of Texas and the other States without admitting that the South was aroused to war explicitly and specifically over the right of the States to defend race-based slavery.

4. The President is indeed not a Monarch and should not be treated as such. All modern prezzes, including Trump of course, have abused this. The Congress is partly to blame, as it has failed to assert its rightful powers. But it is absurd to declare that vaccine mandates are great biological experiments without basis in legislation. See, for example, https://news.yahoo.com/biden-workplace-vaccine-mandate-legal-090027328.html .

Robert Braeking

Lincoln was elected in 1860. His intentions were clear long before he issued his proclamation.

1. I will agree to disagree on the motivations for the 3/5 compromise.

2. England abolished slavery in 1834. France did so in 1847. The writing was on the wall. (See Nebuchadnezzar) With mechanization it would have ended without a war.

3. If it could not have passed, the 13th properly should have been proposed. Just one of Lincoln's many power grabs.

4. The executive is out of control. And the so-called vaccine is a biological experiment regardless of the FDA/CDC complicity in its acceptance. There have been no long-term trials and the clinical trials were cut short and stopped altogether when the EUA was issued. When the government pays out on an adverse side effect, it does not pay without a non-disclosure agreement from the injured. If that is not suppression of information, I will eat your hat. Declaring it safe does not make it so. If Fauci says it then it is most likely not so. Blindly following the government line is what Stalin and Hitler depended on. Don't fall into the trap.

BTW - yahoo news is fake news.

Ed Buckner

Robert Braeking

Mr. Buckner, As long as your party is in power you are happy no matter the depth of their tyranny and erosion of the freedoms and liberty that you do not value as long as you have safety and security. News flash. Their tyranny threatens your safety and security as well.

Ed Buckner

Mr. Braeking,

You’re mistaken on several matters.

1. I do lean Democratic over Republican, but I am not exclusively a Democrat and have criticized the party and Democratic elected officials often. I have voted for Republicans (though not often), including for Congress. I favor and promote ideas, not political parties except as a means to ends.

2. I’m a skeptic—and don’t trust any government or news source or political party as being unquestionably true. I trust medical and scientific experts but only in limited ways—only when such experts are in substantial consensus do I rely on them, and even then with a residual of skepticism.

3. Lincoln was certainly a man of known opinions and intentions before he was elected, including opposition to slavery (though he did seem at times to be racist), but there is no reason to think he sought war with the South before the South began shooting. The strong declarations of enmity and saber-rattling began before Fort Sumter being fired on, but it was across the South as much (more so, in fact) as across the North. Lincoln supported Union even more than he opposed slavery. It is true that England abolished slavery in 1833 and that mechanization might eventually lead to its abolition, but that is speculative. In 1861—nearly three decades after abolition in England—Confederate VP Alexander Stephens, in a speech in Savannah before Fort Sumter was fired on, declared in stark terms (no dog whistles needed) that the Negro is inferior and that slavery is a great, God-given, institution that the Confederacy was created to insure that this would continue: “Our new government is founded upon exactly the opposite idea; its foundations are laid, its corner-stone rests, upon the great truth that the negro is not equal to the white man; that slavery subordination to the superior race is his natural and normal condition. This, our new government, is the first, in the history of the world, based upon this great physical, philosophical, and moral truth.”

4. There are no real grounds for dispute about the three-fifths compromise (some mindless critics have falsely claimed that it was a declaration that black folks are only 60% as important as white folks, which is nonsense). It was a compromise between the slave-holding States that wanted slaves counted as people for purposes of distributing electoral power and the mostly non-slave-holding States who argued that slaves cannot be both property and people, both animals without rights and counted for representative purposes. You can disagree, but those are the facts, not merely my opinion.

Stuart Crouch

More wishful thinking by the losers. And so it goes. As an aside, whenever someone feels compelled to be cute and announce their third-grade intellect to the world by uttering the NASCAR-derived, alt-right chant of "Let's go,....", I only wonder why they feel so compelled to tell us about what their mom did.

"Tuck Frump" is far more fetching, no?

Carlos Ponce

Ted Gillis

Ed, one thing I’ve noticed about Republicans, is that they expect every democrat to speak out or publicly denounce any liberal who says something shocking or unpatriotic, but they offer no apology when one of their own does the same. They will hem and haw with a weak defense or claim “well that’s not how I would had said it”.

It’s a cult. They protect each other. And one them strays like Cheney, they cut them loose.

Carlos Ponce

Ted, Liz Cheney is no Conservative.

Gary Scoggin

Carlos, thanks for sharing your lack of knowledge as to what conservatives really are. You probably think Donald Trump is one.

Carlos Ponce

As I have posted many times before, President Trump is not Conservative. But his agenda is.

And NEVER let a Liberal define who is and who is not Conservative. They often get it WRONG.

Gary Scoggin

Liz Cheney’s voting record is very Conservative. The MAGAverse hates her because she called them out on the Big Lie. She’s not only a conservative but a courageous one at that. Unlike most of the toadies that are afraid to disagree with the former guy.

Ed Buckner

Right you are, Ted Gillis.
