[thumbup] "If high-level officials go free while underlings are convicted and jailed, it would be a travesty of justice." If your suggesting, the high-level official is President Donald J. Trump, I agree, 100%. [thumbup]

Gary Miller

Mike> I agree if Pelosi finds a real violation by Trump he should be charged. Pelosi's problem is as hard as she has tried she hasn't found anything that qualifies as a crime.

Carlos Ponce

The precedent of holding a former president accountable doesn't sit well with many especially with a Democrat president. When Clinton was impeached Democrats vowed to get even by impeaching any subsequent Republican president. Groundless charges of impeachment were filed against Presidents George W Bush and Donald Trump. They were unsuccessful with Bush but with enough House Democrats managed the impeachment of Trump. And he was acquitted.

They'll grant Obama immunity and he will testify. Obama's pawns, bishops and knights will undergo trial and pay the price. Obama's penalty? History will record his administration as one of the most corrupt ever. Of course there will be Democrats who will still hold Obama in great esteem but who cares? His legacy will be one of scandal.

Bailey Jones

By all means - call your prosecution.

Carlos Ponce

John Durham is working on it and has discovered much.

David Hardee

Schiff and cabal had 3.5 years to perpetrate a travesty so give the other side a fair rebuttal and prosecution period to get an Obama impeachment in absentia. The first president impeached when out of office. Another first for Obama. Dems need a win in 2020 to assure the Obama period doesn't get its just deserts.

Bailey Jones

Oh yes, VERY much, I'm sure. Things. Big things. The worst things in history. Things you wouldn't believe. I hope it's televised. With Jim Jordan presiding. I can't wait.

Casey Alan

Hypocritical people. I just don’t understand it. Insisting to find something that is criminal but yet refusing to see the criminal in office now. Making a big deal about Clinton’s impeachment when the person in the office now is impeached and they’re going to vote for him anyway. Trying to blow smoke to cover up the facts about the current person in office. So pathetic.

Carlos Ponce

Poor Casey does not realize the charges and allegations against President Trump were made up.

Casey Alan

The same is to be said about the false accusations against Obama. If you were to watch the real news you will see that tRump

Is guilty on so many different levels. But you just can’t educate stupid.

Carlos Ponce

"But you just can’t educate stupid." Yes, I've tried to educate "stupid" but they still see Obama as a saint and deflect by casting false narratives about Trump. One day all will be revealed and even Casey will say, "How could I have been so blind?"

Gary Miller

Casey> Name the crime, offer the proof.

Jim Forsythe

In 2015, Cohen began communicating with Felix Sater, a Russian-American mobster, felon, and real estate advisor regarding the Moscow project, as Sater had numerous Russian contacts and had previously worked with the Trump Organization. On November 3, 2015, Sater e-mailed Cohen, suggesting that Trump Tower Moscow could actually help Trump get elected. The e-mail states:

“Buddy our boy can become President of the USA and we can engineer it. I will get all of Putins team to buy in on this, I will manage this process…Michael, Putin gets on stage with Donald for a ribbon-cutting for Trump Moscow, and Donald owns the republican nomination. And possibly beats Hillary and our boy is in…We will manage this process better than anyone…You and I will get Donald and Vladimir on a stage together very shortly. That the game changer.” [sic]

In January 2016, Cohen directly emailed the Russian government’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov indicating that he wanted to get in touch with Sergei Ivanov, Vladimir Putin’s chief of staff, regarding the project. Cohen continued to pursue the project into late June 2016. In November 2018, Cohen pleaded guilty to lying to Congress, as well as other criminal charges.

Gary Miller

Carlos> I must disagree with you. Trump was impeached for a very real reason. He was and is not a Democrat. History will conclude nothing more, nothing less.

Shelli Neal

Read the Mueller report. Before you ask, yes, I read the entire report. The charges were not made up.

Carlos Ponce

Part one exonerated the President. Part two of the Mueller report made a list of recommendations for Congress to investigate. Doubtful if Mueller really had anything to do with either except put his name on it.

Charles Douglas

If the charges were not made up, but was legit, Then why did Attor. General in Charge Rod Rosenstein testify under oath today saying if he had known what the FBI, CIA, and the rest of the DEEP STATE were doing he WOULD NOT have signed the FISA warrant allowing them to continue the case against Trump? All of it was a two bit HOAX, ...in an attemp at a coup in this country and I am thrilled many of the perpetrators are going to pay for what they attempted to do as well as what they did!

Craig Mason

Gary Miller

Casey> Democrats like to claim Trump has committed high crimes but when they impeached him they had none to offer. If you believe he has NAME one that isn't winning an election.

Carlos Ponce

"Committed high crimes"? No, not really.

Carlos Ponce

Unlike Bill Clinton, no crime was cited in the House Articles of Impeachment.

“House Democrats settled on two flimsy Articles of Impeachment that allege no crime or violation of law whatsoever—much less ‘high Crimes and Misdemeanors,’ as required by the Constitution… [T]he terminology of “high Crimes and Misdemeanors” makes clear that an impeachable offense must be a violation of established law. The Impeachment Clause did not confer upon Congress a roving license to make up new standards of conduct for government officials and to permit removal from office merely on a conclusion that conduct was ‘bad’ if there was not an existing law that it violated.” -Defendant's Brief

"Having failed that most basic obligation to charge the President with a crime in order to have him removed, House Democrats should not be surprised that they face an uphill battle in the Republican-controlled Senate, which is already skeptical of the charges that allege President Trump abused his power when he temporarily paused military assistance to Ukraine while he considered requesting a rescission of the funding from Congress, namely because the President has the power to consider and request such a rescission, and that otherwise, under Article II, the President is in charge of foreign policy."

Gary Miller

Casey. Silly liberals keep claiming Trump crimes without naming the crime or offering any evidence. He won an election but that is only a crime in liberals minds. He's posed to do it again.

Paul Sivon

The desperation just keeps going, and going.

Bailey Jones

When you feel bad about your own choices you need try to make other people feel bad about theirs.

(Everything I need to know about Trumpsters I learned in kindergarten.)

Charles Douglas

We need to ask "Vlad" why after Obama's second election the Ukraine only got blankets and C-Rations to defend against Russian aggression! I believe "Vlad" will tell the world what Obama meant when he got caught on a hot Mic ....telling an associate Russian Official of Putin, to "Tell "Vlad" ..I will be more open to work with him after my next election!" The Official said, "I will pass this on to Vladimir." I will submit that it was connected to those blankets and C- Rations which I guess the Ukraine military threw the ration cans at the invading Russian tanks and used the blankets to drop over the top of the tanks to cover up the peep windows so the enemy could not see where to drive or shoot! Lolo Who was it who sent real weapons to the Ukraine to fight the Russian Military? Was it Hillary Crooked? Nope! Was it O'Biden? Nope! Was Lao Tzu? Nope! It was none other than that BADDDDD MANNN who had the wherewithal, to stand flatfooted in front of millions and millions more of people around the world and in this country and wave a BIBLE in the air ...without any reservations! That is why I love Trump Diesel! That is why he will NEVER be beaten in this next election! This man is the next President and there is not enough DEMOCRATS alive to stop it! [beam]

Bailey Jones

I sincerely hope they let you testify, Charles.

Don Schlessinger

You're showing your age Charles s. They haven't used "Cs" since the late 70[beam]

Charles Douglas

Mr. Schlessinger, you are so right! [thumbup]

And in other important news, I spotted a stray dog in my front yard this morning.

An investigation is not an indictment.

The House and Senate have repeatedly investigated Hillary Clinton and concluded, most recently: “no persuasive evidence of systemic, deliberate mishandling of classified information”. It did find violations of policy by 38 people but while they may be disciplined, no indictments are forthcoming. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2019/oct/18/clinton-emails-investigation-ends-state-department After three and one half years Barr has found nothing indictable.

After a short two year investigation into the Trump-Russia connection, the Mueller report resulted in 39 indictments and 8 felony convictions.

In 8 years of the Obama Administration, only two generals were indicted and convicted of a felony. Both were for security violations.

Based on the score to date of 39 vs 0, the Obama/Mueller was far more effective than Trump/Barr.

Carlos Ponce

"The Mueller report resulted in 39 indictments and 8 felony convictions." The case against the Russians was tossed out, DOJ will not proceed against Michael Flynn. Of the 39, how many are left and how many had nothing to do with the Trump administration?

Jim Forsythe

34 people and three companies have been criminally charged as a result of the probe.

Paul Manafort

He ran Trump's campaign for part of 2016 and was convicted in August on five counts of tax fraud, one count of failure to file a report of foreign bank and financial accounts, and two counts of bank fraud. Prosecutors said he'd hidden millions of dollars overseas. He was sentenced to 47 months in that case

Rick Gates

Manafort's former business partner and Trump's former deputy campaign chair pleaded guilty to conspiracy and lying to Mueller's investigators about his business dealings with Manafort. Gates, who also worked on Trump's inaugural committee.

Michael Cohen

Trump's longtime fixer pleaded guilty to lying to Congress bout the duration of Trump's plan to build a Trump Tower in Moscow. He was sentenced to three years in prison for that plea and another in a case that had been brought by federal prosecutors in Manhattan, where he admitted to eight felony counts of tax evasion, bank fraud and campaign finance violations.

Michael Flynn

A top Trump surrogate and a foreign policy adviser during the 2016 campaign who admitted to lying to the FBI about the substance of his conversations with Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak during his brief stint as national security adviser

George Papadopoulos

Another Trump foreign policy adviser, he pleaded guilty to making false statements to the FBI about the timing of his conversations with a professor who had ties to Russian intelligence. He'd said he'd spoken with the professor before he went to work for Trump when it was afterward. The professor had told Papadopoulos that Russia had "thousands of emails" that would damage Trump rival Hillary Clinton's campaign. Papadopoulos was sentenced to 14 days in jail.

Alex van der Zwaan

The London-based lawyer admitted to lying to Mueller's investigators about his contacts with Gates. Van der Zwaan had worked with Gates and Manafort for a Ukrainian political party that was closely allied with Russia. He was sentenced to 30 days behind bars and fined $20,000.

Richard Pinedo

He was sentenced to six months in federal lockup and six months of home confinement for selling bank account and other stolen identity information to a group of Russians accused of interfering in the election. The Russians allegedly used the information to create fake online identities.

Carlos Ponce

In other words, process crimes and things that had nothing to do with thr Trump administration dominate your list.

And they just released the Flynn - Kislyak transcript that shows Flynn did not lie. That's some thing we already knew since the FBI agents said Flynn did not lie. When they threatened to go after his son, Flynn admitted to anything they saiid.

Carlos Ponce

The charges against Manafort were investigated during the Obama administration but AG Eric Holder dropped the matter. Did team Mueller discover something that Holder did not? No.

Jim Forsythe

Process crimes are crimes that can lead to time in jail. All that I listed had ties to Trump.

As of June 1, Flynn is still trying to say I want to use a take-back. Instead of granting the dismissal, Sullivan appointed retired federal judge John Gleeson to argue against dropping the case and to assess whether Flynn should be held in contempt for perjury. "The district judge’s orders reveal his plan to continue the case indefinitely"

Carlos Ponce

If Sullivan and Gleeson continue in this travesty, Flynn will be exonerated on appeal since it violates the Supreme Court decision in USA v Fokker (2020). The SCOTUS case was decided 9-0, opinion written by Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

Jim Forsythe

An unusual situation has come about when U.S. District Court Judge Emmet Sullivan asked a retired judge, John Gleeson, to argue against the DoJ motion. He also asked Gleeson to recommend whether Flynn should face a criminal contempt charge for perjury — ostensibly because Flynn pleaded guilty twice in court to lying to the FBI and then declared he had not lied.

If Gleeson, a former federal judge, were to recommend that contempt charges be applied, Sullivan could sentence Flynn to jail, despite both the prosecution and defense wanting the charges dropped.

Carlos Ponce

It would be unwise for Sullivan to proceed in this manner. This Federal judge can be impeached for his actions from the bench.

Jim Forsythe

But this is what is happening and Flynn may still have to go to jail until Trump pardons him, like Trump is going to do with Stone.

Article II of the Constitution gives the United States House of Representatives sole power of impeachment and assigns the power to try impeachments to the United States Senate. Do you really think that Sullivan will be impeached?

Carlos Ponce

It won't go that far, Jim.

Jim Forsythe

You said he could be impeached. You are not right, because they will not vote for impeachment.

Carlos Ponce

Federal judges have been impeached, Jim. If Pelosi won't, her Republican successor in 2021 will look into it.

Jim Forsythe

You can mark --222 seats as safely, likely or lean Democratic, and 193 seats as safely, likely or lean Republican. The other 20 seats are toss-ups that could go either way.

Do you think the Republicans are going win enough seats to take the House? Flynn will go to jail if the Judge decides that where he belongs. If Trump does not win, no pardon. How many Senators have to say yes for the Judge to be convicted and removed?

Carlos Ponce

Trump will win.

Ted Gillis

I wonder what dirt that they had on Flynn Jr?

We all know that Flynn Jr. was a racist. He posted and communicated regularly on racist websites. He displayed the racist Pepe the Frog logo on his Facebook page.

Donald Trump did too, until he was called out on it.

Who among us in these comment pages tolerates racists?

This would be a good time to denounce them.

Carlos Ponce

"I wonder what dirt that they had on Flynn Jr?" Nothing, but that doesn't matter. They bankrupted his father and threatened same on Jr. In this September 13, 2017 article, NBC News states, "Michael G. Flynn, the son of President Donald Trump's former national security adviser, is a subject of the federal investigation into Russian meddling in the presidential election and possible collusion between Moscow and the Trump campaign, according to four current and former government officials.

The inquiry into Flynn is focused at least in part on his work with his father's lobbying firm, Flynn Intel Group, three of the officials said. It's unclear when the focus on Flynn began."

Subsequently, The Mueller report (April 2019) has stated there was contact between Team Trump but no collusion. But earlier they told Sr to admit he lied or they'll do the same to his son. And his lawyers told him to do so. (Dec 2017)

Carlos Ponce

Pepe the Frog-

Wiki- In the 2010s, the character's image was appropriated as a symbol of the alt-right movement. The Anti-Defamation League included Pepe in its hate symbol database in 2016, but said most instances of Pepe were not used in a hate-related context. Since then, Pepe's creator has expressed his dismay at Pepe being used as a hate symbol and has sued organisations for doing so.

In 2019, Pepe was used by protesters in the Hong Kong anti-extradition bill protests as a symbol of liberty and resistance. Protesters, especially children and teens, see it as a cartoon that “looks funny and captures the hearts of so many youngsters. It is a symbol of youth participation in this movement.”

A few people use Pepe the Frog in the wrong manner but most just like the image. Posting it on Facebook is deemed racist?

I remember some decided the Frito Bandito was racist. I never did, neither did my relatives. If I posted it, would that be racist?

Ay yi yi yi, I am the Frito Bandito.....

Gary Miller

Ted> being a racist is not a crime. If it were most Democrats could be convicted.

Ted Gillis

True, and I also remember religious organizations trying to force Chrysler and AMC to change the name of their two car products (Demon and Gremlin) back in the 70’s. to something else. Chrysler complied, renaming the Demon to Dart Sport, but AMC ignored them and went on to sell one of their most successful products. Funny how the religious right had no problem with the tv show The Dukes of Hazard’s “General Lee” car with the confederate flag painted on top, (nor Daisy’s shorts for that matter).

But Flynn Jr. was still breaking protocol by coordinating with the Trump transition team.

But then all kinds of protocols have been broken since then, so what the heck.

He also promoted the stupid Comet Pizza ruse on Facebook and through emails. Yeah let’s put him on the White House Team.

President Obama warmed Trump about these creeps, but he chose to stick with them anyway. I guess Trump likes to surround himself with these self serving types for some reason.

Carlos Ponce

And they changed my junior high from Blocker Demons to Blocker Stingarees.

About Junior - Did you notice that after dad plead guilty,Team Mueller DROPPED their investigation into Junior? Have they picked it up hence? No. Nothing there.

Jim Forsythe

Michael Flynn Jr. may still face a judge. Flynn Sr. is still not free yet because if Gleeson, a former federal judge, was to recommend that contempt charges be applied, Sullivan could sentence Flynn to jail, despite both the prosecution and defense wanting the charges dropped.

Flynn’s son, Michael, was the chief of staff at Flynn Intel Group a lobbying firm. The Flynn Intel Group was under scrutiny for its ties to Russia and Turkey. Michael G. Flynn was at his dad’s side in Moscow in 2015 when Flynn Sr. gave a speech for RT, the Russian government network. Records released by the House Oversight Committee show he was paid nearly $34,000 for his speech; RT also paid for Flynn and his son's airfare to Moscow and lodging at a luxury hotel.

Flynn Intel Group also was paid $530,000 in 2016 for work the Justice Department has said benefited the government of Turkey.

The Flynn Intel Group once paid Michael Flynn Sr., more than $800,000 a year in salary.

Flynn’s son, Michael G. Flynn, “who worked closely with his father, accompanied him during the campaign and briefly worked on the presidential transition. Flynn Jr. was fired from Trump’s transition team after the president reportedly became irritated by Flynn’s persistent promotion of a false conspiracy theory alleging Hillary Clinton was behind a child sex-trafficking ring.

"Flynn Jr. did enough that he could have been indicted separately or at the same time as his father” and maybe now.

Carlos Ponce

Nothing will happen to Junior.

Ted Gillis

I didn’t see Gary had slipped in his comment about Democrats being racists. Old news my man. Those guys are now either dead or changed parties, now being proud Republicans. Good try.

Carlos Ponce

"Those guys are now either dead or changed parties..." Noooo.

Margaret Sanger wanted to remove undesirables from this country which included people of color. She founded an organization to remove them before birth called "Planned Parenthood". This organization terminates the lives of babies of color disproportionate to the general population. There is one party which still supports her goals and wants the government to fund her "Planned Parenthood" . Hint: It's NOT the Republicans!

And as the flames climbed high into the night

To light the sacrificial rite

I saw Satan laughing with delight

The day the babies died

Bailey Jones

That's the standard Party line, Ted - "We may be racists but we're not as racist as Democrats were 100 years ago."

Carlos Ponce

So Bailey is telling us

"Today's Democrat Party may be racists but we're not as racist as yesterday's Democrats were 100 years ago."

Reminds me of the fascist Antifas who claim to be against fascism.

Carlos Ponce

George Caros, your family is being tried after the election? Well since you're the drump.....

Doug Sivyer

Give me a break! The spineless and corrupt GOP in the senate refused to impeach tRump when obviously guilty of much worse but yet you want to go after Obama? Laughable.

Carlos Ponce

Doug, did you notice that unlike previous articles of impeachment, those filed against Trump cited NO mention of any law being violated? Guilty of what? There's nothing there.

John Nelson

Trump administration: 37 criminal indictments, 7 guilty pleas, 5 in prison. All while republicans control the Senate and Supreme Court. So, who is corrupt?

Carlos Ponce

Democrats are ........... Wait until John Durham comes up with his list of indictments of Obama officials. And of those "37" the ones against Russians were dropped, some process crimes, Manafort's case was drpped by Eric Holder (Obama Admin) then picked up again by Team Mueller. The DOJ has decided to drop charges against Flynn. Judge Sullivan has to drop it under USA v Fokker.
