In response to the story ("Two arrested after shots fired near Ball High School," The Daily News, Feb. 15): Although school was not in session, students were on and around campus.

While I don't have any suggestions as to how the school district might have handled this, I do believe that I should not have learned of it through a newspaper story — three days after the fact.

And what would have improved if you had been informed within minutes? GISD didn't tell you about a non problem that had already been taken care of. Are you over rating your importance?

The two men shooting guns close to Ball High were a danger to the people and animals in the neighborhood. They were able to post bail and get out on the streets too quickly and easily. The amount should have been higher. Our judges are too lenient. Next time someone might get hurt or killed.
It was not GISD’s problem, or responsibility, but everyone is worried about safety and security at this time.

"They were able to post bail and get out on the streets too quickly and easily. The amount [$25,000] should have been higher. Our judges are too lenient."
You can thank the ACLU for this.
