Five years ago, the Texas Education Agency records show that Galveston ISD ranked fifth in "Student Achievement" among Galveston County schools districts. Today, GISD still ranks fifth. No improvement from years of deficit budgets. GISD's performance rate in terms of "indicators met" actually declined over the same time period. And the mantra that we have less schools on the "improvement required" list?

Did you know that "meeting standard" in Texas does not mean meeting grade level work? Who does not believe that Galveston's middle-class drain is directly tied to GISD's poor performance?

I fully endorse Laura Addison. Laura will put the welfare of all of Galveston's children first. If Galveston wants change, Galveston has to stop electing people supported by the same good ol' boy network.

So what will she do differently? I haven’t seen her offer a solution yet.
