The M.I. Lewis Social Service Center, partner agency of United Way Galveston County, has the mission of rendering aid to individuals with emergency needs and encouraging clients toward self-sufficiency.

The center holds a gala each year to raise money to serve those who need assistance.

Although the gala will be virtual again this year, we're excited to offer our supporters options to participate in the event. The "Red, White, and Do for M.I. Lewis" will be held virtually from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 12. Register to attend at

There will be a short film, interviews with volunteers and patrons, and a silent auction featuring a Traeger Pellet Grill, Astros and Texans tickets and fabulous gift baskets. Each person who registers will be eligible to win a door prize.

A watch party is also being held at Gator's Bar and Grill, 3535 Interstate 45 in Dickinson. Multiple large-screen televisions will broadcast the event, and happy hour specials will be offered to all who attend. This will provide supporters the opportunity to visit with friends as we raise funds needed for M.I. Lewis to continue our mission. Everyone is welcome to attend.
