Gary Miller

The ig Red Wave was entirely the liberal media's invention. Conservative were warning their will be no easy wins. The Media knew Lazy Republicans would look for excuses to not vote. The Red Wave died. Conservatives still won hundreds more races without Republican help. Winning control of the House and tying the Senate. GOP won hundreds (Thousands?) more down ballots seats than they lost. The little red wave survived.

Gary Scoggin

That's a rationalization worthy of Carlos Ponce.

Bailey Jones

I think it's a little sad that Gary M has to comment on his own letter.

Carlos Ponce

Not really, Bailey. The GCDN places word limitations on submissions. Also, after submitting the letter, some writers want to augment their post, adding things they forgot to include in the original submission. And sometimes, to clarify a point or two.

Jim Forsythe

Bailey, his comment had more words than his post.

Dwight Burns

[sad]

Ed Buckner

[thumbup], Mr. Scoggin

Gary Miller

The truth always gets negative posts. Few posts indicates the truth is hard to refute.

Bailey Jones

[lol][lol][lol]

Gary Miller

Jim > Actually the letter had more words before editing and still has more than my post in forum. Your negative post on a "so what" subject reduces the value of future posts by you.

Dwight Burns

I don't think you know the truth any more. Until you let that "Trump Kool aid" alone, you will continue to spit out lies.

Gary Miller

Dwight> Calling a post a lie requires you to identify the lie. Other words you lied about the post. You imply Trump lied but until you identify the lie it remains true I think you heard someone say Trump lied but have never seen any proof he did. The problem is people like you claim (lie) or (racism) without any evidence other than your bias. Always hoping others like you will believe your second hand lies. If you chose Truth over lies you would be a Trump supporter.

Gary Miller

Stand behind what you post. First rule for GCDN letters. I do. The big truth is the GOP won the midterms but not so much as the liberal media said they would. The small truth is Carlos is correct that word count limited my letter. Posts in forum have no word limits..

Bailey Jones

I know, Gary - 200 words. That's why I so rarely write letters.

Paula Flinn

Don’t feel bad, Gary. Democrats were lazy, too! They believed there would be a red wave, so many Dems didn’t bother.

Judy Hansen

I agree with you 100%, Mr Miller.

Gary Miller

Thanks Judy. 51% is good,100% is hard to maintain.

Thomas Carpenter

This idiotic and inaccurate post wasn't worth a comment until you became an advocate for me to be shot in front of a firing squad for supporting the duly elected President of the United States.

You're an evil little man, Mr. Miller, whose bloated and hateful thoughts should rupture from putridity inside your skull instead of splattering across the pages of this forum in a nonsensical, alternative truth, fascist spiel.

So, you want to kill those who disagree with you? How very MAGA of you Mr. Miller. You're exactly the reason the vast majority of Americans rejected your cult leader and his acolytes. You're stupid for listening to The Traitor and his calls for violence, which you now parrot in print. Your leader knows you're stupid and all he has to do is point the way, just like he did with the fools on January 6th.

That's what the MAGA cult has devolved to Mr. Miller ... you and the rest of the racists and misogynists and anti LGBQT cretins. Rejected and humiliated in three elections, all you have left is violence. And you're no patriot; you're just an angry old white man who hates everybody and everything, a fascist who breathes in deep draughts of schadenfreude and hopes the worst for everyone because you'd rather be king of a dung heap than a citizen of a functioning republic.

Make certain to bring a blindfold and a cigarette, Mr. Miller. The blindfold for your marksmen, I'm sure it will improve their aim, and the cigarette for you, Mr. Miller, to help you enjoy the afterglow ...

Meanwhile, the Democratic Party continues to govern, something Boy Blunder never learned how to do.

Carlos Ponce

Looks like the Desperate Democrats of Galveston County are at it again! (It just shows their true selves...and that's not good.)

Thomas Carpenter

Ponce, I'm sure you'll be standing by Miller's side handing him the bullet and then offer thoughts and prayers.

Carlos Ponce

Thomas Carpenter...... seek help.

Jim Forsythe

For the ones that think that the Republicans were not predicting a red wave, your memories are short.

Sen. Ted Cruz said he is "incredibly optimistic" heading into Tuesday’s midterm elections, saying he is confident there will be a "red tsunami," and predicting big victories for Republicans in the House and Senate.

Cruz, R-Texas, during an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital at the end of his month-long bus tour, said he believes Republicans will "retake the House and the Senate."

"I am incredibly optimistic," he said. "I think this is going to be, not just a red wave, but a red tsunami."

Cruz predicted that Tuesday’s election results could mirror the 2010 election due to "the magnitude of change the voters are looking for."

Gary Scoggin

If you're riding the MAGA train, it helps to have a short memory.

Carlos Ponce

Elections where the results were close and revealed days after November 8 are being scrutinized. Just look at the Harris County results....

Gary Scoggin

MAGAs just can't bear the thought of losing an honest election. That's why they have to create doubt. It makes them feel like victims. It starts with the recently defeated President and works down from there.

Gary Scoggin

Remember when Republicans used to talk badly about the victimization culture?

Carlos Ponce

Soggin's Liberal underpants are showing.... again.

Jim Forsythe

Just as Gary said, Magas just can't bear the thought of losing an honest election. That's why they have to create doubt. It makes them feel like victims. It starts with the recently defeated President and works down from there

Carlos Ponce

"honest election"....How about those that are suspicious? Whistleblowers are lining up.

Gary Scoggin

""honest election"....How about those that are suspicious? Whistleblowers are lining up." Carlos -- Thanks for making my point.

Carlos Ponce

Democratic Sen. Mark Warner (Va.), chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, admitted Sunday that former President Donald Trump was "right" about the security threat that TikTok poses to Americans.

Jim Forsythe

Tik Tok is not the only possible problem we have. It is low on what we need to be worried about. Remember the pipeline held hostage.

Home DNA kits which allows others to have your DNA code, opening e- mail from unknow source, being on someone list of contacts and other actives, all have the possibly of problems. The easiest way to have few problems is have excellent protection on your phone, computer and such.

Carlos, what did this have to do with what we are talking about?

Carlos Ponce

"Carlos, what did this have to do with what we are talking about?"

Think about it, Jim.

Jim Forsythe

Carlos, what did this have to do with what we are talking about?

Carlos Ponce

Should have known that Jim just doesn't get it!

Jim Forsythe

Carlos, as you said, former President Donald Trump.

Jim Forsythe

If Trump was so worried about Tik Tok, why did he risk using Tweeter?

Any platform can have problems larger than Tik Toks. Such as Tweeter. Shutting down one will not make much difference in protection against attacks.

January 2015: The US military’s Central Command Twitter account sent threatening messages and changed its header message to include the text “i love you isis.” The military called it an act of “cybervandalism” and responded by immediately taking its social media accounts offline.

June 2016: 32 million Twitter passwords were put up for sale on the dark web due to a malware intrusion.

July 2016: Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey’s account is hacked.

November 2017: President Trump’s account was deactivated and shut down for approximately 11 minutes by a rogue employee who was planning to leave the company. The incident raised questions about how much access Twitter’s workforce had to users’ accounts.

August 2019: After the phone number associated with Dorsey‘s account was compromised, the account generated highly inappropriate tweets that were taken down almost immediately. A group calling itself the ‘Chuckling Squad’ took responsibility.

Description of Events: The seven or eight employees who were tricked were directed to a site controlled by the hackers and then entered their credentials. By doing so, they ended up giving away critical information – not only their usernames and passwords but also multifactor authentication codes.

Soon after, several Twitter accounts—@drug, @xx, @vampire, and more—became compromised. One of the telltale signs that something was seriously amiss came in the afternoon when cryptocurrency exchange Binance sent an unusual tweet stating it was “giving back” around $52 million of bitcoin to the community with a link to a fraudulent website. Over the next hour, 11 cryptocurrency accounts followed suit. Later, so did the accounts of Elon Musk and Bill Gates.

Carlos Ponce

"If Trump was so worried about Tik Tok, why did he risk using Tweeter?"

Gee, Jim, your brain must be on vacation!

Let me make it simple:

Twitter: AMERICAN made, operated.

Tik Tok: CHINESE, and despite what they say the Chi Coms have access to the info.

DUH!

Jim Forsythe

32 million Twitter passwords were put up for sale on the dark web due to a malware intrusion.

Carlos Ponce

Did you get a good price for them?[wink]

Jim Forsythe

I would be much more concerned about actives such as doing a DNA home test.

TikTok is owned by its Chinese parent company ByteDance. The company is not actually registered in China, but is incorporated in the Cayman Islands. But the company tweeted that claims ByteDance itself is owned by the CCP "is mistaken... a Chinese state-owned enterprise has a 1% stake in a different ByteDance subsidiary called Beijing Douyin Information Service Limited, not in TikTok's parent company." TikTok moved its U.S. users' information to new servers at Oracle Corp in a move that could address American concerns over data protection, the company confirmed in June.

Carlos Ponce

"....despite what they say the Chi Coms have access to the info. DUH!"

Jim Forsythe

Who are Chi Coms?

Carlos Ponce

CHI COM or CHICOM:

It's a common contraction for CHINESE COMMUNISTS.

https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/Chicom

Jim Forsythe

The last time I checked, the Cayman Islands were not COMMUNISTS.

I would be more concerned about what other platforms are doing with your info, including ones in the USA.

Carlos Ponce

And Jim believes it stays in the Cayman Islands!!!!!

No use trying to convince ole Jim. He knows more than the bi-partisan consensus in Congress and FBI director Wray!

"All of that data that your child is inputting and receiving is being stored somewhere in Beijing." - Democrat Sen. Mark Warner (Va.), chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee,

So the Democrat chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee says the info goes to China but ole Jim says nooooooooo, it stays in the Caymans!

And your FBI director Christopher Wray :

"China’s vast hacking program is the world’s largest, and they have stolen more Americans’ personal and business data than every other nation combined," Wray told lawmakers last week, adding specifically of TikTok: "[Dangers] include the possibility that the Chinese government could use it to control data collection on millions of users or control the recommendation algorithm, which could be used for influence operations if they so chose or to control software on millions of devices, which gives the opportunity to potentially tactically compromise personal devices."

"I don’t believe there is a path forward for anything other than a ban," he told Axios at the time, adding that there isn't "a world in which you could come up with sufficient protection on the data that you could have sufficient confidence that it’s not finding its way back into the hands of the Chinese Communist Party."

But ole Jim says noooooooo, it stays in the Caymans![rolleyes]

Jim Forsythe

Trump hate of TikTok has nothing to do with China, nothing to do with national security. It does have everything to do with Trump’s rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The event was supposed to mark a return to the campaign assemblies that the president covets, a comeback show of force with nearly 20,000 people in attendance after months of Covid 19 lockdown. And it was totally ruined for him by TikTokers and other young people online who coordinated a campaign to register for tickets to the event and never show up. Trumps ban on TikTok is retaliation for that.

Two weeks later, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo was the first Trump official to talk publicly about a possible TikTok ban. This marked a dramatic escalation in the federal government’s stance on TikTok, which had been available in the U.S. for two years prior.

Sawyer McDuffie, a rising junior at the University of South Carolina. McDuffie, was an eager participant in the Trump trolling, securing two tickets online with no intentions of going. “If anything being a member of Gen Z has taught me is that no matter what rules they make, we will get around them,” he says. “Whenever they banned Instagram and Snapchat on school wi-fi [in high school] we would just get VPN. Whenever they told us we couldn't go to certain websites on our school laptops, we would figure out a way to get around it.” “There are a million other apps out there.”

One of the reasons many Gen Z's voted against Trump backed people last week because of his attempt to do away with Tik Tok. With 100 million Americans that come to TikTok for entertainment and connection, had a reason to vote for the other candidates.

Jim Forsythe

Also, 60 percent of the top free mobile VPN apps returned by Google Play Store and Apple Play Store searches are from developers based in China or with Chinese ownership.

Carlos Ponce

Jim posts, "Trump hate of TikTok has nothing to do with China," WHAT A LAUGH!!!!!

Ted Gillis

TikTok, which I suspect nobody on this forum uses.

Carlos Ponce

But their children or grandchildren do.

Ted Gillis

Let me ask mine, and I’ll get back with you.

Ted Gillis

I asked both of my adult kids about using TIK TOK and they said nope. I asked the 15 year old grandkid and she wrinkled her nose and said eww, no way.

So there’s your answers Carlos. I think the Gen z’s and younger crowds are moving on. Just like when we moved on from AOL back when it became just another internet space. The younger crowd wants the next new thing, and TIK TOK is old news.

On a side note, now Mike Pompeo is claiming that teacher’s union leaders are the most dangerous people in the world. Said by an irrelevant “has been”, hoping to get some headlines by saying something outrageous. He needs to go away or start selling Medicare insurance plans or reverse mortgages for a living and leave the political stage for the ones that can think for themselves. What a blow hard.
