The power of prayer is strong for those who believe.

The Uvalde killer is a jigsaw puzzle with many parts. Some stop at the puzzle piece with the "gun" but he is far more complicated than that.

What about these pieces?

Broken family with missing father

Psychosis induced by heavy marijuana smoking

Playing violent video games

The myopic stop at the "gun".

Universal Background check? The Uvalde killer passed it. Clean record. And the ATF assumes you are being truthful. You can LIE and still get your firearm like Hunter Biden.

Raise age to purchase to 21? The Uvalde killer tried to get his older USN sister to purchase one. She said no, so he waited. If the age of purchase was raised he would have probably asked someone else to purchase one for him or get one through a street sale.

Are you going to raise the draft age to 21 also?

And remember:

“A sixteen-year-old in 2021 possesses a wisdom and a maturity that comes from 2021 challenges, 2021 hardships, and 2021 threats,” said Representative Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass.), one of the members of Congress behind the amendment to lower the voting age. “Now is the time for us to demonstrate the courage that matches the challenges of the modern-day sixteen- and seventeen-year-old.”

So a 16 year old has wisdom and maturity to vote but you have to be 21 to own a firearm? And Pressley is not the only Democrat who believes this.

Mr. Ponce> We are talking about the LEFT here, nothing they say or do make sense with all that is going on today, because they want power, and they will say & do anything to get, and keep it! What is that old saying they have, " NEVER LET A CRISIS GO TO WASTE!"

Look at all the money they are squandering on their green deal and their BUILD BACK BETTER IDEAS!!! You bought up some good points in your post, and I want to add to what you provided.

Let's start with the unlocked door the shooter used to walk right in the school to begin his destructive killings in Uvalde shall we? Who many lives would have been saved IF THAT DOOR WAS LOCKED as it was supposed to have been? Let's also talk about no Campus Resource Officer(s) to be found NOWHERE! How much damage would have happen if a Campus Officer had with all the information provided ...AMBUSHED THE SHOOTER & KILLED HIM? Lets talk about the absence of surveillance cameras! WHY WERE THERE NONE? Was it because there was no assigned Officer(s) on Campus? Let's talk about the Patrol Officer who passed by the school after being contacted on the radio about a possible intruder at the school. The Officer never stopped to run a check on what was reported, and that happened BEFORE the shooter gained entrance to the school! I dont think safety of Schools are being taken serious enough anywhere until there is a shooting and kids are killed! Then everybody gets excited! Lets talk about the school Police Chief who came to the school with no radio to stay in contact or to make contact with any officer(s) on the scene. THIS MAKES MY POINT ON SERIOUSNESS, FOCUS, AND PREPARATION TOWARD SAFETY on school campuses! Lastly and most importantly lets talk about the overall decision making of ALL THE INDIVIDUALS AT OR NEARBY THAT SCHOOL WHO BORE RESPONSIBILITY TO KEEP THOSE KIDS SAFE, ...that included those who waited almost an hour while kids were being killed inside adjoining classrooms!

All I can hear about is, LETS COLLECT ALL GUNS! Joe Slow started off talking about Assault Style Rifles, now he has bought up 9mm Pistols into his rhetoric! So are any reasonable people to believe that Slow Joe & the Democrats will take away Assault Style Rifles, take away 9MM Pistols away, but will I allow us to keep our Glock, S&W, & Beretta 40(s) & 45(s) semi automatic handguns? I don't think so! They have done what they always do, and that is to politicized the killing of those school children just like they are doing the January 6th demonstration! There needs to be a.change in the mindsets of Campus Resource Officers all over this nation! When an officer get to his of her assignment at their campus, they should act like they are on point leading a platoon in war, only that platoon is not following them like they would in war! If an individual is afraid to get shot at or to enter into a burning building, ..DONT BECOME A FIRST RESPONDER PLEASE!

Gary Scoggin

Charles. You forgot to mention China.

Charles Douglas

I did not mention China "OG" because I thought I'd hurt your feelings if I did, .....since many Americans seems to he doing their bidding.

Here we are getting rid of fossil fuel why China is exploiting & expanding the use of fossil fuel and making all the green energy material we will have to buy from them, because they have cornered the market on the sources of all the majority of raw materials it will take to go green! It is a Chinese Hoax is all! I thought Americans were smarter than that! In reality all it takes to make dumb [censored] (s) out of the average American,... China thinks .....is to show him a dollar or two! Lolo. Labrun James, Bill Gates, Nancy Pelosi, Moscow Mitch, NBA, Hollywood, Mike Millen, and I could go on and on. The love of CHINESE money runs deep in America! Millen is at the top of our military and he threaten to reveal top secrets on TV to XI JINPING during Trump's Administration! That is a disgrace! Scandalous, but not surprising!

Unfortunately we have these type individuals here who want to change America, they want to OBAMA-RIZE America because we are that light on a hill! I feel bad for all those who gave all they had for this nation to be what we were, just to see Slow Joe and his supporters tear it down to nothing! It is a shame! A pity! You got your "China" fix now OG? Now be kind enough to give me my "SLAVE FIX!" I want one, and nobody can give it out like the LIBERAL LEFT! It's been 2-3 week since I've heard y'all bring up Jim Crow, Jim Eagle, Discrimination, Segregation, Inequality, and all the race-bating, deceptive terms used to divide! I need my FIX!!!!!!!!!!

Gary Scoggin

Thanks, Charles. I’m better now. 😁😁😁

Joe Willis .. back up Bosco..

The Second Admendment (it must have been VERY IMPORTANT .. ITS THE SECOND ONE)

thats not your right or Joe slows or the supreme courts right to change .Theres a REASON it was written that way .

I hear all these people talking about mass shootings

But NO ONE is talking about PUNISHMENT ..

Mass shootings will only be curtailed when the punishment fits the crime .

Letting a kid caught RED HANDED sit in a mental hospital for four years watching tv with three hots and a cot with ac is only ENABLING the people that do these crimes .. Theres the elephant in the room .. and NOBODY is doing anything about it ..

Jim Forsythe

David Smith, what you and other want is not what Texas state law says. Until he is declared able to stand trial, he will remain where he is.

You can work to change the state law, but until it is changed, he will remain lock up where he is at.

Christopher Smith

The second amendment also says WELL REGULATED

Carlos Ponce

Please read DC v Heller decision concerning "well regulated".

Bailey Jones

I agree, Mr. Willis, but the last 3 decades have proven that no amount of carnage and mass murder can sway the cold dead hearts of America's gun cult. More innocent men, women, and children will die, and more shopping centers, churches, grocery stores, public parks, theaters, etc., will be the scenes of massacres and horror, and they will not be moved to act - except to defend their inaction.

Carlos Ponce

"gun cult"[rolleyes]

It's not the guns, Bailey. That's just a symptom, not a root cause.

It's the drug culture making the young believe marijuana is "harmless".

It's the broken families throughout the country.

It's the violent video games making users believe killing is just a game. The more kills the higher the points.

Over 99% of firearms in this country are not used to kill people. The few that do is tragic but does not warrant wiping your a** with the Constitution.

It's pinhead politicians and their followers who politicize mass murderers instead of addressing the REAL causes.

This is just gearing up to bolster their base for the November mid-terms.

Jim Forsythe

Carlos, if the problem is what you post, why do other countries not have the huge problems with guns the USA does?

Carlos Ponce

"why do other countries not have the huge problems with guns the USA does?"

They have problems, Jim. They do! But they use other means such as BOMBINGS (22 dead in Manchester UK, 33 dying in Brussels , GASSING, POISONS, KNIFING (33 dead 143 wounded in China), 84 killed in Nice France by being run over by a truck, etc, etc, etc.

"Smoking cannabis can lead to manic behaviour: Hyperactivity, aggression and delusion are all strongly linked with the drug, researchers warn"

Scientists found a 'significant link' between marijuana and manic episodes Mania includes symptoms such as depression, anger and aggression Also includes hyperactivity, less need for sleep and feelings of elation In extremes, can cause people to become delusional and hear voices Cannabis can make mania worse in people with bipolar disorder, they saidSmoking cannabis can bring on symptoms of mania, new research warns.

Researchers found there is a 'significant link' between marijuana use and mania, which can range from hyperactivity and difficulty sleeping to aggression, becoming delusional and hearing voices.

The study of more than 2,000 people is especially alarming for teenagers who indulge in the habit.

Lead researcher Dr Steven Marwaha, of Warwick University, said: 'Cannabis is the most prevalent drug used by the under-18s.

'During this critical period of development, services should be especially aware of and responsive to the problems cannabis use can cause for adolescent populations.'

The study, published in the Journal of Affective Disorders, examined the effect of cannabis on individuals who had experienced mania.

This can include feelings of persistent elation, heightened energy, hyperactivity and a reduced need for sleep.

Mania can also make people feel angry and aggressive with extreme symptoms including becoming delusional or hearing voices.

Dr Marwaha said: 'Previously it has been unclear whether cannabis use predates manic episodes.

We wanted to answer two questions - does cannabis use lead to increased occurrence of mania symptoms or manic episodes in individuals with pre-existing bipolar disorder?

'But also does cannabis use increase the risk of onset of mania symptoms in those without pre-existing bipolar disorder?'

George Croix

Jim, what how many other countries have about 99% of total anything used without bad purpose.

How many others citizens and leaders tolerate on up to excuse or even participate in criminal activity and refuse to prosecute or lightly sentence, calling it “protest”.

How many others have elected leaders standing in front of crowds of supporters urging them to assault verbally or physically their political opposites.

How many others burn down billions of dollars worth of real estate/businesses, or loot them empty, and the POLICE get punished more than the criminals.

How many others teach their children to hate each other over skin color, and pre assign victim or oppressor designations based on same. Declare hopelessness a natural outcome of an evil country, yet, for some reason, aid and encourage millions to come here.

How many call math, highways, clothes, Pick Nearly Anything ‘racist’.

How many have one of the top leaders of their legislature verbally threatening the safety of their judiciary members.

I would counter that millions are wishing to come TO our ‘problems’, yet no promises to Leave This Country If…..are being noted….

Can’t raise people without respect or responsibility, or hope, or sense of commonality of purpose, of unity, and not expect some to become bad actors…

The 99% NOT do not deserve to be crapped on by people who think the few outweigh the multitudes…..

Bailey Jones

Pot is legal in several EU countries, Canada, and Australia, yet they all have only a fraction of our homicide rate. So, I don't see the correlation. However, if you are suggesting that drug/alcohol treatment / mental illness treatment be made available to all Americans regardless of income, then I'm with you.

Violent video games are just as prevalent in Europe, Canada, and Australia, yet they all have only a fraction of our homicide rate. So, I don't see the correlation. But if you're interested in eliminating the depiction of guns and gun violence from our media and political ads, I'm with you. Although I'm not sure the 1st Amendment is.

America does have the highest rate of single-parent households in the developed world. So, if you're interested in implementing the same sort of social policies that support families (child care subsidies, paid parental leave, etc.) as they have in Europe, Canada, and Australia, then I'm with you.

You say "Over 99% of firearms in this country are not used to kill people". A quick calculation shows the number to be more like 99.99%, on a yearly basis. I'd wager (but not with you, obviously) that the number of annual gun deaths - 45,000 give or take - greatly exceeds the number of illegal votes cast in national elections, yet we have no trouble regulating the right to vote.

For instance:

You have to be registered to vote.

You must meet these requirements to be registered to vote:

You are a United States citizen.

You are a resident of the county where you submit the application.

You are at least 18 years old.

You are not a convicted felon.

You are not mentally incapacitated.

There is a one-month waiting period between registering and voting.

Your registration is tied to a particular address and must be updated every time you move to maintain your right to vote.

Your registration expires every two years and must be renewed to maintain your right to vote.

An official government record is made every time you vote, you must prove your identity and your address, and you must sign the record book.

It is claimed that these regulations are justified due to the harm caused by a ballot in the wrong hands. Surely the same argument can be made for the possession of firearms.

Gary Scoggin

Well said, Bailey.

George Croix

In spirit of discussion, I offer the following, assuming of course LEGAL gun purchases and voting

You have to accurately and truthfully, fill out ATFE Form 4473, register, to buy a firearm. Lying on it is federal felony, punishable by up to 10 years in prison, if enforced.

You do not have to be a citizen to buy a firearm but you must be here legally and provide legal, legitimate, verifiable ID to that effect.

You are allowed to buy a firearm out of county but must provide full information on place of residence, as legal firearms are used by the owner for the same purposes in more than one location, while one cannot vote for certain candidates for office in other areas.

You must be 18 to buy a firearm other than a handgun which is 21.

Form 4473 and the subsequent mandatory federal background check includes that prohibition for felons. I don’t think a voter is federal background checked but may be wrong.

Ditto for mental issues..it’s on Form 4473. Also on Form 4473 are disqualifying questions on the issue of drug use. And donestic violence. And child support in arrears.

Firearms owners do not have to reregister for that firearm. It does not expire. That firearm may legally be moved to another state (most) .That firearm can be legally transferred to others when the owner gives it away or sells it, or dies. Voters get one vote per issue, cannot sell or give it away, and cannot vote when dead. Vote registration also covers whether one is no longer in a place where their legal vote can be cast.

Official record Form 4473 meets all those same proof of requirements, plus must be maintained by law for 20 years. The buyer signing it must be witnessed by the seller that he/she actually is the signer. (Of note is that the current DOJ has told gun sellers they must maintain 4473 in perpetuity, which is effectively maintains a permanent national firearms registration, and is thus illegal, so, the enforcers themselves are breaking their own laws. Similar, interestingly, to how voting rules were subverted, despite illegal to do so).

So, it seems it’s not so different after all.

One might argue that votes cannot ultimately result in the deaths of others, but guns can.

Well, neither can, unless used by a person who, by their direct action of pulling a trigger or exercising vested authority, causes death to result. The dead from drugs pouring in and often mixed with ‘safe’ ones while we have law enforcement occupied handing out trip vouchers certainly meets or exceeds gun deaths…

All lives matter

Bailey Jones

George, I admit to not being up to date on gun regulations. The last time I bought a gun there was no paperwork involved. I'm glad to hear it. But it's worth noting that this doesn't apply to personal sales, or - as my current weapon is - a gift. And no waiting period, obviously.

I've long thought that the background check loophole could be easily filled. If you want to buy a gun, just go to your police station and fill out a form, get your background checked, and then you're in the database. Anyone - gun dealer, pawn shop owner, neighbor, aunt, can call a number or go to a website, enter your DL#, and know instantly if you're good for guns. There is no reason for any gun to change hands without a background check. Red flags can easily and instantly be entered into the database so the info is always up to date and available for use. And make it illegal for anyone who has not been greenlighted to possess a gun under any circumstances, and illegal to transfer a gun to anyone not greenlighted under any circumstances.

The point is simply - there are plenty of common sense things we can do to keep guns out of the hands of people that we know shouldn't have them. That won't solve the whole problem, but it does solve that problem. There is no reason not to.

George Croix

Couple or so thoughts:

First in my mind is it’s not Joe Publics business to know whether I own a firearm or a French horn or can tap dance. I see no reason for non law enforcement personnel to be able to know what I own, especially if I have never been a criminal.

Might as well put a sign in the front yard saying Guns In House….

Yet another reason I have no bumper stickers/window decals/tees/caps/whatever advertising my armed status or support, or even my politics….

I bet I could stand right by you in a store checkout, or have you over for a cold DietCoke using other than my name on the invite, and you’d never know I was armed, or knew a clip from a magazine…..or even owned a firearm.

Not all Police are supporters of the 2nd, and a reason, one, for states enacting “shall issue” firearms licensing/permitting was the intentional denying of them or slow walking, even for people clean as a shiny pin…

Background checks are like all computer data systems, they don’t build themselves. We’ve had them since GCA ‘68 and today are greatly improved but as an honest person you’ll note the shootings that took place with legally purchased, form filed out, background passed firearms purchases, then AFTER we hear of the suspicions and observations indicating Evil Nut …nothing in, nothing out…

How about if we require under penalty of law every purchase to be checked, we make as sure as possible that the check may actually be more than a blank page by assessing a penalty for knowing/seeing and not saying - failure to render aid as applies to preventing firearms getting in bad hands. Arguably, each is as easily enforceable in reality, but the latter has shown that, most recently, the ultimate result of knowing yet ignoring and keeping quiet was 21 graves.

Too extreme?

It’s at least more likely to lead to fewer bad actors getting guns.

When we KNOW of a lit fuse why should that bring no backlash but more directed at the innocent.

If we can study with multi million dollar grants the Monopoly playing ability of baboons or teach zebras to line dance (or, similar absurdities) we can build up our EXISTING background check system to make it as fully as possible comprehensive and effective.

I fail to know, though, how to keep the insane or evil at bay with nothing but regulations.

Harden all schools…..deter/prevent all threats better, even the ones the system missed…

I’m actually leaning to support that 21 year old gun buy change, even though I personally oppose it on principal and personal experience, but can’t deny that most of the school shootings A holes have fallen below that age. I’d support, with a qualifier…sunset in 5 years if no statistically provable decrease in school shootings resulted.

That’s a little something for both sides, recognizing that this country is so messed up and kids so indoctrinated that maturity and respect for others is in short supply, but hate is not, nor is the cowardice that makes other kids targets,..

George Laiacona

Very good article. But we have to realize that the politicians offer thoughts and prayers but no legislation to solve the problem. We desperately need a 21st century version of the 2nd amendment.

Carlos Ponce

"the politicians offer thoughts and prayers but no legislation to solve the problem." Agreed, but the problem is not guns.

"We desperately need a 21st century version of the 2nd amendment." George REALLY sounds desperate![rolleyes]

Paula Flinn

George, look up Conservative Chief Justice Warren Burger’s interpretation of the Second Amendment and quotes we remember from him. President Nixon appointed him to the Supreme Court. He claims the present version accepted and promoted by the NRA and others is a fraud.

Carlos Ponce

Paula, read Justice Scalia's interpretation of the Second Amendment in DC v Heller. It is not a 21st Century interpretation but a CONSTITUTIONAL explanation.

Paula Flinn

Carlos, even brilliant minds can differ. My point was that a very respected, brilliant man, Chief Justice Burger, in the 1990’s, gave a different interpretation of the Second Amendment. He was considered a conservative. The ultra-conservative Justice Scalia was brilliant, but was not Chief Justice, and would never be.

Paula Flinn

“District of Columbia v. Heller, 554 U.S. 570 (2008), was a landmark decision of the US Supreme Court ruling that the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution protects an individual's right to keep and bear arms, unconnected with service in a militia, for traditionally lawful purposes, such as self-defense within the home, and that the District of Columbia's handgun ban and requirement that lawfully owned rifles and shotguns be kept "unloaded and disassembled or bound by a trigger lock" violated this guarantee.[1] It also stated that the right to bear arms is not unlimited and that guns and gun ownership would continue to be regulated. It was the first Supreme Court case to decide whether the Second Amendment protects an individual right to keep and bear arms for self-defense or if the right was intended for state militias.”

Yes, the right to keep and bear arms is not unlimited and guns and gun ownership would continue to be REGULATED. Let’s see some of that REGULATION from Congress.

Carlos Ponce

Paula, your link refers to a NEWSPAPER ARTICLE by Justice Burger, not a Supreme Court decision.

Newspaper article interesting but not legally binding

SCOTUS ruling: LEGALLY binding.

George Croix

Chief Justice Roger Taney (D) was appointed by Pres. Andrew Jackson (D). Taney wrote the majority opinion in Dred Scott v Sanford

Christopher Smith

Thank you! Agree 100 percent. The 2nd Amendment starts by saying "well regulated." It's time we focus on the regulation part.

Jim Forsythe

The Militia Act of 1792 clarified whom the militia consists of: Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America, in Congress assembled, That each and every free able-bodied white male citizen of the respective States, resident therein, who is or shall be of age of eighteen years, and under the age of forty-five years (except as is herein after excepted) shall severally and respectively be enrolled in the militia, by the Captain or Commanding Officer of the company, within whose bounds such citizen shall reside, and that within twelve months after the passing of this Act.

The Second Amendment provides a collective right to states, not individuals, to bear arms as part of a well-regulated militia. In the 18th century, at the time of ratification, American states did not have standing armies, so when a military force was needed the state would call up the militia, which would be able-bodied local men bringing their weapons to an assembly point. Without individual ownership of a firearm, there could be no militia.

The U.S. Supreme Court lent support to this interpretation in United States v. Miller (1939). In Miller, the Court considered the case of an unlawful transport of a sawed-off shotgun under the National Firearms Act (1934). The unanimous Supreme Court noted that because there was no evidence that the weapon in question had “some reasonable relationship to the preservation or efficiency of a well-regulated militia, we cannot say that the Second Amendment guarantees the right to keep and bear such an instrument.” The Court also comments that the weapon is not part “of the ordinary military equipment” and that it would not “contribute to the common defense.”

I see where the government went out in the darkness of night and apprehended a former Trump aid named Navarro! They slapped shackles and chains on him and led him off to book him into jail because he decline to cooperate with this Democratic/Rino fake January 6th Investigation Committee going on in DC now.

During the Obama Administration Eric Holder claimed Executive Priviledge from being questioned for giving guns to Mexican Cartels, who killed a Border Patrol Officer, and nothing happened. Mr. Navarro claimed Executive Priviledge and got "shackles," "iron bracelets" and arrested by the Justice Department just like what happened to other Trump aids in similar positions to his! I think we need to do something about that saying that America is the land of the free in that national song. The WOKE LEFT is proving day in and day out that this is no longer true!

This is what Obama wanted! This is what he worked for! We are moving ever so slowly toward the same type government which CHINA has! That is you are as free as the government says you are, no more and no less! As I have described above, justice in this nation is no longer blind, nor is it equal for all! It is what the government says it is! The government is working to possess all responsibilities, and control just like in China!

The LEFT says no borders, then they tie the hands of ICE and Border Patrol and let everybody in! They will give Baby Formula to the Illegals even if Babies who are citizens go hungry or die! They say don't investigate the Laptop From HELL, ...then ALL news organizations will "black out" news about it and "censor" anyone else who wants to speak out concerning it! They will conspire to setup, and undermine a sitting President by manufacturing fake evidence & using the Justice Department, FBI, & other Government Agencies to validate the fraud, and when the truth comes out those who facilitated the fraud are turned loose by carefully selected WOKE JURIES! Welcome to the new America!

Gary Scoggin

If you ignore a lawful subpoena, which Navarro did, you run the risk of arrest. Navarro is no longer part of any Administration and the one he was part of no longer exists. Holder was actively serving as AG at the time. I suppose he could have been arrested a la Navarro but those in charge of the investigation declined to pursue criminal charges.

Whataboutism aside, aren't you the least bit worried that Navarro and others are reluctant to share what they know about how the assault on the Capitol was planned? If they know nothing, their testimony would be brief. It they know something then their testimony is crucial.

Carlos Ponce

"If you ignore a lawful subpoena, which Navarro did" The subpoena was not lawful. The committee rules specify House minority leadership have input into selection of minority party committee appointments. It did not. The whole committee is illegal since Pelosi handpicked "Republicans" to serve - those who detest President Trump.

Gary Scoggin

You, me or Pete Navarro doesn't get to decide that lawfulness of a subpoena from Congress. That's what Courts are for and SCOTUS has re-affirmed the power of Congress to issue subpoenas in non-criminal cases. The fact that McCarthy did not have his way in selecting members of the committee - he picked a couple that were obviously conflicted, for Heaven's sake - does not render the committee illegal.

Carlos Ponce

"You, me or Pete Navarro doesn't get to decide that lawfulness of a subpoena from Congress" No, A JUDGE does. When Eric Holder was subpoenaed the House took it to a JUDGE who ruled he had to abide by it. Hence : CONTEMPT OF CONGRESS!!!!

But Pelosi and company didn't even BOTHER with a JUDGE. Forget the law, forget the Constitution is their modus operandi.

By the way, since Holder was the AG , nothing came out of it. This shows the CORRUPTION of the Obama administration quicker than you can say FAST AND FURIOUS.

Jim Forsythe

McCarthy pulls his 5 GOP members from 1/6 committee after Pelosi rejects 2 of his picks

Carlos Ponce

Jim, that's still against the rules.

Carlos Ponce

"The Democrats, in a half-hearted attempt at bipartisanship, promised that there would be 13 members on the Committee, five of whom would be Republicans. An 8-5 split on the Committee doesn’t reflect the actual ratio of Democrats to Republicans in the House, but we have grown accustomed to Pelosi’s disregard of institutional norms of ratios reflecting the make-up of the House.

The promise by Pelosi turned out to be untrue because when Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy named his five nominees to the Committee, Pelosi booted two of them off. The other three Republicans rightfully rejected participating in the witch-hunt in protest.

In response, Pelosi appointed two former Republicans, Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger, to fill the Committee. These two have a more virulent strain of Trump Derangement Syndrome than any of the Far Left in Congress. And, that’s really saying something."

George Croix

I certainly am, Gary.

Equally so with why the Speaker of the House is excluded from required to testify, to date, and thus why we will get no reason for turning down help requested by Capital Police Chief Steven Sund days AHEAD of the riot…..

She kept the place fenced for months thereafter with NO credible threat….

There was a reason for such lack of forewarned action, and certainly as relevant as the genesis of the rioters

Gary Scoggin

George - I hope they get to those issues. That would have been all the more reason for McCarthy to not pull his folks from the Committee. I think it all needs to come out. But the only person that misses more opportunities in Washington than Kevin McCarthy is Chuck Schumer.

As far as the fencing after the insurrection, that's a different issue. I don't know the reasoning but I assume there was a bit of nervousness and an abundance of caution at play. That worries me much less than any events leading up to the action.

George Croix

A cynic might say an abundance of politicking, but I won’t…..big grin…

I can’t say fencing is bad..

Too bad the mayor of Seattle didn’t fence off the insurrection there….

George Croix

I DO NOT excuse Jan. 6 the event, but can wonder and imo logically guess at the timeline since then, and the holding in solitary confinement for months of US citizens without bail or indictment, and the nationwide manhunt for people only on site, not participating…

The only person who died during the riot from direct activity was unarmed, and killed by Police…..the same ultimate end as precluded months of national insurrection, without any or with dam- little consequences….

I play no favorites here…..

Jim Forsythe

Why was a fence installed around the Capitol? Because of the January 6 event. The fence was not removed until creditable threats was no longer an issue. January 28, 2021: "A permanent fence must be installed around the U.S. Capitol to prevent another attack such as the Jan. 6 riot, the acting chief of U.S. Capitol Police said". “In light of recent events, I can unequivocally say that vast improvements to the physical security infrastructure must be made to include permanent fencing and the availability of ready, back-up forces in close proximity to the Capitol,” acting Chief Yogananda Pittman said in a statement. “I look forward to working with Congress on identifying the security improvements necessary to ensure the safety and security of the Congress and the U.S. Capitol,” Chief Pittman said. The reason for the fence around the Capital is the same reason a fence is around the White House. The National Park Service and United States Secret Service began construction on a new White House fence in July 2019. Construction around the 18-acre White House complex will be completed in eight phases using over 3,500 feet of steel fencing. The two agencies have been working hand-in-hand since 2014 to develop an appropriate barrier that will keep the White House and grounds as accessible as possible to the public while ensuring the security of the White House and its occupants.

Prayers only work for the person that is saying the prayer. It selfishly satisfies some internal anguish that the person is feeling about the tragic incident. It costs the person nothing and it accomplishes nothing. Positive actions are the only direct way to accomplish something meaningful. Donating to funeral expenses, donating to the community, volunteering at a school or working for changes to the current laws are examples of positive action. Thoughts and Prayers is just a polite version of wringing ones hands.

Carlos Ponce

"Prayers only work for the person that is saying the prayer. "

Please talk to a cleric concerning this, Ted. You are wrong.

George Croix

It would seem to me that advice from any direction where there is open, even encouraging, support for, when not outright excusing, of the easy release and rare if ever prosecution of criminals, including even those who use guns in their crimes, should be taken with some salt......

Anyway, the 2nd has, as it's most important word, "infringed"... that important word being defined as "act so as to limit or undermine (something); encroach on."

Limit. Undermine. Encroach on. The 2nd does not GRANT or CREATE a right for us. It specifically precludes infringing on a natural right that we already have, are born with, to not limit or undermine or encroach on, the right to defend our own lives.....

Even for the militia focus folks, it cannot be ignored that No armed individual = No militia.

SCOTUS has ruled that the Police have NO obligation to protect each individual..just the general public (a wise ruling, as Police cannot be everywhere).

We do not each have our own Policeman, so the choice to trust that one will be available if needed right now is one that anyone who wants to can take but, thankfully, I and those of similar mind, do not so choose, and exercise our un-infringed upon right to make that choice....

We who follow the laws and rules and use our firearms responsibly ARE 'well regulated' by our own actions, by following the cornucopia of laws and rules in effect now.

Those others need to be 'regulated' by being severely punished for their criminal activity, not aided by omission.....

When a killer has multiple rap sheet entries and is still on the streets, the problem is not in my gun safe.....

Charles Douglas

Looks like to me the WOKE is staking conservative Supreme Justices now..maybe seeking a chance to repeat what happened to Justice Scalia! They have been on this route for a while now! Crybaby Schumer said they would reap the "whirl-wind" because they sowed the wind! I guess that was code for their WOKE henchmen and thugs to go after the Consecutive Justices so Joe Slow would get to replace them huh? Ahhh the WOKE.... DA WOKE, .....they want this nation to fall, so Red China can wall right in and takeover! When that happens ...Chairman XI JINPING will have plenty traitors to help him weed out all of.us who will give him trouble! We will have another UKRAINE right here, because some us old experienced VETS will fight back ...and that is a.given!

George Croix

I am deeply concerned by this, as the heat is white hot right now directed at SCOTUS, yet the AG, today, even after this ACTUAL THREAT CLOSE CALL, issued a limp waisted “We won’t tolerate this illegal behavior” statement BUT THEN IMMEDIATELY proved his own self a liar by STILL not arresting and prosecuting ‘protesters’ at the Justices home(s), which is against federal law. Everyone should be removed and arrested if refuse or come back. Unfortunately, the President is on top of this by going on Jimmy Kimmel’ show tonight….

Must be kin to Mayorkas “ The border is under operational control”, except THIS, if death results, is immediate history course changing, and anyone thinking that’s a good idea better be thinking about what happens when assassination makes you happy but now the Other Side is turning a myopic if not blind eye to prevent it

Ted Gillis

No Carlos you are wrong. And don’t even think that you can tell me or anyone else what to do. Your pompous know it all attitude about religion is an affront to all of us.

If you want to pray, go pray. If that’s what makes you feel good internally, and allows you to cope, then great. Ask any cleric, and he will agree with me.

Carlos Ponce

James 5:16

Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.

Colossians 1:9-12

And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God. May you be strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy, giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light.

Job 42:8

Now therefore take seven bulls and seven rams and go to my servant Job and offer up a burnt offering for yourselves. And my servant Job shall pray for you, for I will accept his prayer not to deal with you according to your folly. For you have not spoken of me what is right, as my servant Job has.”

1 Samuel 12:23

Moreover, as for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the Lord by ceasing to pray for you, and I will instruct you in the good and the right way.

Ted, we pray for each other as commanded by God. Ask any cleric, and he or she will agree with me.

Ted Gillis

Posting scriptures does not prove that it works. I’ve seen preachers and pastors flip back and forth in the Bible reading different passages, attempting to string along bits and pieces to prove a theme. If you have to go to that much effort then obviously your point is weak. There is a classic saying that you can prove any point by quoting different parts of the Bible.......but you’re not very good at it.

Carlos Ponce

Prayer works. Just ask God.

Gary Scoggin

I did. He told me to be aware of false prophets and others who misuse His word.

Charles Douglas

God Bless Ms. Ashli Babbitt a fourteen year veteran of the United States Air Force who was executed on January 6th in DC by a security man in plain clothes whose name is not worthy for me to even bother to mention here!

If I was not man enough to take on a 5 foot tall, 39 year old female protesting for the freedom she spent fourteen years in her country's military serving through two wars fighting for,... without shooting her dead, while she was unarmed, I would never have bothered being a cop! Now he is hiding behind Nancy Pelosi and her lying mouth![angry]

Gary Scoggin

The fact that she was the only traitor killed is a testament to the professionalism of the LEOs on-site that fateful day.

Carlos Ponce

Gary Scoggin, she was NOT a traitor.

Carlos Ponce

No Traitor:

"A newly released video shows that Babbitt was pleading for police officers to do something as the rioters smashed windows.

This follows on recent disclosures that the Air Force veteran tried at least four other times to put a halt on the assault on the Speaker’s Lobby.

The video appears to show Babbitt becoming increasingly frustrated as police officers in the stairway stood by and did nothing as some violent persons damaged the partition, with one video showing someone smashing a window only inches from a police officer’s head, the Times noted.

Yet, that officer did nothing."

Charles Douglas

YOU are barking up the wrong tree "OG!" I'm not one to hold against you what you are throwing out there! See I know that XI JINPING commands this kind of loyalty from many Americans, I just never thought you were one of them! His money gives him a long reach inside this nation! I understand this! I wish it was not so! This country is on fire now, and is being torn down by morons, perpetuating crime and criminal behavior, along with government over- reach, and you think there are some among those who are running this country now doing good jobs?

That iwas rhetorical ... don't answer that! You have the right to remain silent, any answer to that question, I will memorialize and use against you later even if I have to fabricate side issues to juice it up for my use! Lolo!

Now I must say that.you show no respect for a dedicated female veteran who poured her heart & soul into serving her country! You show no remorse whatsoever my friend! You sir surprise me! All these years and I have NEVER observed this side of you. I need to think about this because I do not feel good about this ah-tall! I will have to check back with you later concerning this issue! I might wait until November and gloat when there is the great power switchover! I have NEVER been a good loser, and I am 2X worse when I win! [beam]

Gary Scoggin

Charles, is everyone that disagrees with you a Xi loyalist? I am a proud American and resent being called a Communist because I don't agree with everything MAGA. You are better than that.

Regarding Ms. Babbitt, I respected her right up to the moment she walked with the seditionist mob into our Nation's Capitol. At that moment she became more than a mere criminal, she became a revolutionary. While I have respect for veterans (including you), there are cases where they actually do bad things and must face the consequences - this is one of those cases. It's a shame she died. It's also a shame she tried to enter a secure area forcing the officer to have to do his duty. Frankly, I feel sorrier for him than I do for her.

What are your thoughts on Officer Caroline Edwards. Do you agree with Carlos that she deserved what happened to her because she was doing her job and trying to protect our Constitution?

George Croix

An unarmed revolutionary, Gary.

We wouldn't be writing these tidbits had our long ago revolutionaries been such, which makes one wonder just exactly how effective an unarmed group can be in taking over a government...no matter how much tea is tossed or glass is broken....

Ted Gillis

And yet you show no sympathy for the non Air Veteran police offer who was beaten and assaulted, then pushed to the ground while suffering a brain injury on the concrete steps. WATCH HER TESTIMONY.

Carlos Ponce

Oh, was she was unarmed, shot and killed?

Gary Scoggin

So, Carlos, to be clear, are you saying that the attack on Officer Caroline Edwards were justified? If not, are you willing to say that her attackers were criminals and should be charged as such?

Carlos Ponce

No, Gary Scoggin, I am not saying that at all. Just pointing out to Ted there is no equivalence.

And add, those who attacked Officer Caroline Edwards were identified, booked and jailed. On the other hand, the officer who shot and killed an unarmed Air Force veteran ... there was NO investigation (they claim there was but ....no) and he got away with murder. No equivalence.

We can hear from Officer Caroline Edwards but can we hear from Ashli Babbitt? No, she's dead. No equivalence.

Jim Forsythe

“Nothing will stop us,” Babbitt tweeted Jan. 5. “They can try and try and try but the storm is here, and it is descending upon DC in less than 24 hours.... dark to light!”

Unlike some others, Thomas Baranyi (who was standing just behind her when she died) admitted that Babbitt died while attempting to breach a heavily guarded door.

We had stormed into the chambers inside and there was a young lady who rushed through the windows. A number of police and Secret Service were saying get down, get out of the way. She didn’t heed the call and as we kind of raced up to try to grab people and pull them back, they shot her in the neck, and she fell back on me.

She was in the midst of trying to climb into the Speaker’s Lobby, which has a different level of protection than some other parts of the Capitol, including the room with the mob. For example, 40 U.S. Code § 5104 includes “An individual or group of individuals may not willfully and knowingly—

(A) enter or remain on the floor of either House of Congress or in any cloakroom or lobby adjacent to that floor…” The Speaker’s Lobby is adjacent to the floor of the House.

Carlos Ponce

“Nothing will stop us," Jim is reading too much into that tweet. She tweeted that the day before.

Could she have meant “Nothing will stop us from going to DC"?

Look at the rest of the tweet:

“Nothing will stop us….they can try and try and try but the storm is here and it is descending upon DC in less than 24 hours….dark to light!”

George Croix

I'm pretty sure a tweet is not a legitimate death warrant, old friend, but would agree that 'completely innocent' is also not an appropriate label for Babbit.

But, of interest, IS said tweet....

And others, and emails, which means no telling how many we will not see...yet...as they almost certainly are not all Outcome Friendly, either way.

If all this electronic traffic was going on and egged on days ahead, then trying to pin an 'insurrection' on the President speaking at the time is quite the stretch, especially if one reads the COMPLETE transcript of what was said, which includes the admonition, excised by Cheney, to "Go home..."

Trump SHOULD have immediately got on the horn when the whole mess went south and sent in all the help that the Speaker deliberately turned down days before, despite a warning of trouble, and let her pound sand....and PERSONALLY do an emergency broadcast to urge, demand, calm....it's the President's responsibility to ultimately be responsible for the safety of us all....he did not do well at that on Jan. 6

I do not, and expect no others to, excuse his not doing that....

But....but....there's more than semantics between insurrection and riot...participation in insurrection disqualifies from further office. That 'splains a lot, Lucy....including timing.....

Personally, I want the policies and acumen back, but in a different package, so do not support a rerun.

As a commemorative paperweight for each Jan. 6 Commission Member, I'd suggest a Kangaroo motif....signed on the back by the Speaker....

George Croix

Where was the plentiful video footage last night of Ray Epps, repeatedly encouraging the pre-riot crowd to 'Go to the Capitol Building"....etc.

Ray was never jailed.

Or charged.

And likely watched last nights dog and pony from home....

So, who is Ray Epps.....

You could have gotten trampled in the rush by the MSM and 'fact checkers' to declare Ray totally disconnected, victim of conspiracy theory for any role in the rioting....

Maybe so, but their protesting would be more readily accepted had not the same folks assured us that D. Trump was a Russian agent/asset/toady for 4 years because of the "dossier"....

Yet, now we know from her own former campaign manager himself, under oath, that Hillary OK'd getting that whole Russia Russia Russia ball of crap rolling......

In the time to come there may be no further revelations regarding who stirred up what, and toward what ends......and, maybe there will......

It's a certainty that if we change Majorities next January that more eyes will be on it....

Those re-looks may not include a Commission Head, Bennie Thompson, who voted NOT to certify the election of G.W. Bush in '05. Or a member, Jamie Raskin, who voted NOT to certify the election of D.J. Trump in '16. Or a member, Adams Schiff, who not only was architect of the impeachments of Trump but who, to this day, has yet to produce the 'evidence of collusion' that he told us dozens of times in Living Color Video that he had...etc. The two RINO's will be unavailable for inclusion....

Gary Scoggin

I get amused when people refer to Liz Chaney as a RINO. She has been one of the most conservative members of Congress as long as she's been there.

Her only sin is not supporting Donald Trump. I suppose that is the main (maybe only) qualification for being a Republican these days. Issues and ideologies don't really matter.

Carlos Ponce

Rule One: Never let a Liberal define what a Conservative is.

George Croix

I am happy then, as my daily goal is to bring cheer to somebody, especially myself...

That IS a good point, Gary.

I simply note that one can't play yesterday's poker hand, and that Benedict Arnold was at one time a decorated and valued General in the Continental Army, who later defected to the British.....

Gary Scoggin

Let's let the Conservatives define "Conservative"...

CPAC gives Cheney a rating of 71%. Her replacement as Conference Chair, Elise Stefanik has a rating of 77%.

Heritage Action for America gives Cheney a score of 87%. Stefanik's score is 85%.

According to the American Conservative Union, Cheney has a lifetime score of 76%. Stefanik's lifetime score is 48%.

So, if being a good Republican is about being a good Conservative, then Cheney is about as good or even better than the person that replaced her. If being a good Republican is about fealty to the former President then the MAGAs were right to replace her with a lackey.

Jim Forsythe

George, what are you suggesting Ray Epps be arrested for?

Epps is listed as the president of the Arizona chapter of the Oath Keepers. Law enforcement has largely focused on individuals who unlawfully entered the Capitol building. There is no indication that Epps made his way into the Capitol. When asked about his comments in the video, Epps said: “I didn’t do anything wrong … The only thing that meant is we would go in the doors like everyone else. It was totally, totally wrong the way they went in.”

Ray Epps is a retired Marine with connections to a far-right anti-government militia group who traveled to Washington, D.C., to attend the “Stop the Steal” rally. While in D.C., Epps was filmed telling other Trump supporters to go “into” the U.S. Capitol “peacefully.” In another video, Epps is seen de-escalating a fight between police and protesters.

The FBI’s investigation isn’t over, and that additional people may still be arrested for attacking the Capitol. Epps maybe one of them.

George Croix

I'm not suggesting he be arrested, Jim, I noted he was not. Other folks just standing around got arrested, for much less than inciting. Hel_, the FBI went coast to coast looking for anyone who showed up in video of the day....

Maybe all is well, all above board, but it seems odd...seems....that "Go home..." is worse than "Go to the Capitol building..."

Maybe it's just me.....

George Croix

Investigation not over, yet it's in Prime Time....

Sounds like Depp v Heard has competition.....

Carlos Ponce

Gary Scoggin posts: Let's let the Conservatives define "Conservative"

It doesn't matter how those others rate her. What matters is what Wyoming voters think.

She was braying like a Donkey last night.

"Cheney is trailing her leading GOP primary rival, attorney Harriet Hageman by 28-56 percent" NBC News

George Croix

1) A huge riot on the steps of and inside the Capitol with property destruction and associated injuries and even shooting death is something to be condemned and the people participating in it should be punished accordingly. There is no right to destroy and threaten and assault when angry.

2) A huge riot anywhere else with property destruction and associated injuries and even shooting death is something to be condemned and the people participating in it should be punished accordingly. There is no right to destroy and threaten and assault when angry.

Group 2 will be rounded up and held in solitary confinement for months on end without indictment, and elicit a nationwide manhunt lasting months. The national media and probably 95% of citizens will rightly condemn them.

Group 1 will be bailed out if even jailed at all then released to go at it again...even aided by having Police ordered to stand down. The national media and high ranking officials will declare 'peaceful protest'. About half the country will condemn them, at all levels.

Group 1 will have a Congressional special commission appointed to get to the bottom of the event in time for the midterms.

Group 2 will have Members of Congress aiding them and contributing to their bail fund, and releasing them in time for supper breakfast.

Group 1 will be accused of trying to take over the government, despite being unarmed.

Group 2 will toss fire bombs on up to shoot at others, and be 'exercising their right to protest'.

Group 1 will have as supporters people who felt that illegally changing election rules just before an election was wrong and led to abuse.

Group 2 will have as supporters those who changed those rules, and also spent the previous 4 years keeping the nation in turmoil based on a hoax.

Group 1 will be tagged 'insurrectionists', when not the greatest threat to our nation. The destruction inside the Capitol and theft of the Speakers laptop during a day of riot and the fears of members of Congress nowhere near it will be big news.

Group 2 will be tagged protesters, when not societies victims. The destruction and theft of billions of dollars over several months, including government buildings, and the actual ruined lives and incomes of hundreds if not thousands will be overshadowed by a 4 year hoax and its ultimate lead to impeachment of a President...twice.

Group 1 will be investigated by a commission of 9, all of whom voted for impeaching the President that Group 1 voted for. There will be no opposing viewpoints or counters, because the Speaker will only allow the D side to choose who they want as members of the commission, by virtue of the speaker declaring any choice made by the R side must be approved by the Speaker. Exclusion by any other name...... Great show will be made when the R side refuses to play that game, and withdraws. Then the Speaker will then appoint two R's in name only that she wants, who both just happen to have also voted for previously mentioned impeachments.

(Side note: Even in the least of trials, for you or me as defendant, and kid yourself not that this isn't a trial, each side is allowed to choose a number of members from those available, to hear the evidence and reach a conclusion. The other side can object to some but cannot exclude all. All of us ever called for jury duty understand the process of voir dire.

Then that selected pool is seated by random lot. Not by preference of the judge/Speaker.)

Group 2 will make popcorn and watch on the toob as Group 1 is rightfully...rightfully...no excuse for rioting....condemned for their actions, and painted as more dangerous than Nazis and Grim Death itself, and conflated to half the nation.

Group 1 will be forever ruined.

Group 2 will be making their next 'shopping list'.

All this, so that the hated Donald Trump, who gave us turmoil and division and was bombastic on a monumental scale but gave us the best opportunities for minorities and the best economy for all in 50 years and energy independence, can be reviled and hopefully forever excluded from seeking elective office.

All this, so that the Current Leadership, which has given us turmoil and division and is feckless on a monumental scale and has given us hopelessness and staggering inflation and energy dependence to the point of kissing but_ts again can try to maintain the power to rinse, repeat, and do it all over again....

Is Today's America a Great Country, or What......!...?...

Imo, as always.....

George Croix

OK. *%#&%

3rd para should be G-1

4th G-2

Another faux pas...which is French for firetruck up....

Charles Douglas

Well Mr. Croix. Looks like that's it! You have wrapped this thing up as far as I am concerned! I'm talking about,... YOU WRAPPED it tight! Good enough for me!

Gary Scoggin

George .. I see a big difference between G-1 and G-2.

Let me say up front that all the riots and civil unrest over the summer of 2020 were atrocious, unacceptable and any other bad terms you can use to describe them. The objectives of those participating ranged from legitimate protest to taking an opportunity to steal some stuff from stores. The responsibility for addressing these actions rests on local governments and local LEOs. To the degree that they didn't do a good job in preventing and stopping these riots and not holding those that participated accountable is on them and the voters that elect them. I may not like their decisions or actions but I'm not a constituent.

On the other hand, the attack on the Capitol was an attack on our democracy. The motivations were, for the first time in American history, to prevent the peaceful transfer of power. This was a much, much more serious affair with much bigger ramifications. The prosecution of these folks is within the power of the Federal Government, which has worked these cases with the priority that they deserve. Some, principally the most violent ones, are indeed being held without bail. I will admit that this does concern me but then again dangerous criminals are being held without bail all the time.

Regarding the make-up of the Jan 6 Select Committee, what you see here is political malpractice on the part of Kevin McCarthy. He pulled his folks off the committee because Pelosi rejected two of them- Jordan and Banks. I don't know much about Banks, except that he voted against impeachment, but Jordan was a possible witness to the events themselves and, as such, is grossly conflicted. By his actions, McCarthy, on behalf of the Republicans, gave up any ability to meaningfully cross examine witnesses and temper the investigation.

George Croix

"The motivations were, for the first time in American history, to prevent the peaceful transfer of power."

The FIRST time, Gary, my old valued associate??

Maybe......I certainly greatly respect your opinion(s), so, lets see.....

I WILL agree that THIS Jan 6 event was aimed at, up front and open, not getting/delaying the election results certified...to delay swearing in a new President. And you have not and will not ever hear me excusing that. Don't ever want to see again.

THAT, as you say, is a first... in the open....

Two members of this Commission have previously voted not to certify a Presidential Election, but, they did not riot to do so....quite true...and a what is politics without a dash of hypocrisy....

You really think that the Russia hoax wasn't to prevent the peaceful transfer of power? Well, the office occupant did change to another person, who, presumably, would be allowed to exercise the power accorded them by winning the election. But, the last pre-transfer started as an attempt to remove a candidate up front, then continued to undermine the winner for years....and 'peaceful' is something neither you nor I nor anyone with room temp IQ would ever call the ensuing Presidency.....

I, personally, cannot help but consider which is worse, in actual ultimate impact...

BUT, we should not stoop to picking bananas, and we got here by more or less honoring our traditions governing such turnovers. I urge no one else to ever again pull EITHER stunt, and wish harsh punishment for all involved. I can wish one hand full, but suspect the other one won't be.....

McCarthy I wish would go away. BUT if we are to value tradition, as we should, then the Speaker should have butted out, and let the Minority Leader have his choices.

It IS Kevin's fault that Cheney and Kinzinger (sp) are there, but my personal opinion is those were the wished-for by Nancy from the get-go, and Kevin just suckered into taking all his marbles and going home. Wasted hissy fit.....

May be wrong, as Nancy might have accepted nobody who didn't vote for impeachment of Trump.

Good thing for me and you that a Judge will never override OUR lawyers should we be up for judgement......

If we all only focus on this all encompassing interminable clusterdoodle with just our dominant eye, we will miss seeing what is certainly there a little deeper than we can see one-eyed.....

Gary Scoggin

Maybe I should have been more definitive about "first time." My intent was to express that while in the past their have been political differences in Presidential succession, there had never before been meaningful violent differences, especially to the point of an actual attack on the Capitol. (As a matter of course, I'll disagree with you on the "Russia hoax thing", but that's the subject for another day.)

George Croix

True, another violent attack on the Capitol itself had not occurred in what, 200 plus years...?

One wonders at the outcome had we not recently put up a fence and posted guards around the SCOTUS building...our 'fragile democracy' (great focus group term, btw.....) consists of the Judicial branch, too....

Our President and AG are BOTH allowing open illegal intimidation, which has already led to an assassination plot, to continue at the Justices houses....

Hope that fence at their workplace is stout.....

Ted Gillis

With no ill will to any veteran out there, why is it so important to keep referring to Ashli Babbit as an Air Force veteran? I see no reason to bring up her former employment status, unless of course you think it has a contributing factor with her criminal behavior.

Carlos Ponce

That's Ted for you!

Gary Scoggin

Her veteran status is only relevant if the officer that shot her knew she was a veteran and that influenced his decision to use lethal force.

Carlos Ponce

"if the officer that shot her knew she was a veteran"[rolleyes]

Carlos Ponce

Michael Byrd admits that he didn't necessarily think Ashli Babbitt was armed. He said that the question of whether she was armed didn't factor into his decision to shoot her in the chest. A stunning and damning admission.

— Matt Walsh (@MattWalshBlog) August 27, 2021

Charles Douglas

The WOKE!!! The WOKEEEEEEEE!!!!! Their Stimulus Plan paid Federal Prisoners 863 Million Dollars for COVID Relief! Career criminals composed of murderers, killers, rapists, child molesters and others with no respect for the law! Even the "Boston Bomber" got a check!

Who would do or support something like this! I will tell you .....The WOKE!!!! It might take a while but somehow they figure to fight to restore criminals' voting rights so the LEFT can give them more free stuff if they vote Liberal. Welcome to the new America!!!

Ted Gillis

The right deals in stolen valor all of the time. They use it selfishly to garner support for positions that they would not otherwise deserve. One could have called Ms. Babbit a divorce’, an adulterer, a home wrecker, a stalker, a bully, an abuser, or make comments about her unique multi-partnered marital status, however none of those traits are relevant, and I would not bring them up when describing her involvement in the January 6th incident either.

However, I do think that her prior behavior, like chasing down her husband’s ex and ramming them with her car, should have been a sign to one of her spouses that she had a behavioral issue and that she may not have been suited for high stress political discourse. She could very well be alive today if they had intervened and sought mental health care for her earlier.

Carlos Ponce

No stolen valor calling Ashli Babbitt a veteran of the United States Air Force.

Charles Douglas

I suspect there are those on the LEFT who steals valor also! I've met and talked to individuals that tells me they wish they had another chance to serve their country! It is all easy when they see me structing around with a Vietnam 101 st Airborne baseball cap with a Screaming Eagle on one side and a Bronze STAR Medal on the other! Yes I am proud to wear it and proud I served and made it back! However there are 58,000 of those who did the same in one way or another and did not come back alive, to do the things I and others like myself, enjoys! I feel the same about public servants! Police Officers, and Firemen! I love Firemen! I can admit that, because YOU are not going to pay me to run into a burning building! Straight UP!!!! Won't happen, but I know Some firemen who will do it with a smile!

Some of the best people I have known were school teachers! It take all kinds of people to make a country go! It takes people who are not afraid to do something, and contribute! I however I draw the line when the government start meddling into our schools compelling teachers to get involved with this CRT crap, and these other WOKE Ideologies they are forcing our kids to learn! I admire Ms. Babbitt because she was not afraid to stand-up when it was time and what she stood up for was not enough for her to be SHOT DOWN LIKE A DOG!!! The cop who shot that unarmed Veteran should be prosecuted with no less vigor than the one who was prosecuted for suffocating George Floyd, because they both overstepped their mission and protocol to kill somebody!

Ted Gillis

Timothy McVeigh was also a veteran. Feel free to use his valor, if you run out of heroes.

Carlos Ponce

I see Ted is using Timothy McVeigh's "valor". Is he your "hero"?

Ted Gillis

Whenever I think of you Carlos, an image of Timothy McVeigh comes to mind.

Carlos Ponce

I'll pray for you, Ted.[innocent]

Ted Gillis

You should focus your thoughts and prayers on yourself Carlos, as you are obviously the one in need. And like others on these pages I’m pretty suspicious of your motives.

My dad always told me to be weary of creeps that offer you unsolicited gifts.

Carlos Ponce

s for me and my family, we will serve the Lord" and the Lord commands us to pray for one another.[beam]
