”If you wait until you can do everything for everybody, instead of something for somebody, you’ll end up doing nothing for nobody.” — Malcolm Bane

I believe that giving back to the community is one of the most important things a person can do. Carter 7 Fashion Lounge/Carter 7 Grand Events (Carla Smith), G County Apparel (Robert Hockley), DGA Decorations (Maduesuel and Lakesha Curry) Vickie’s Hidden Treasures (Victoria Taylor), LRT Air & Heating Service (Fred and Nicki Jones), Queen’s Attic Boutique (April Jones), Kreative Kids (Ashley Little), Hands of Care Massage (Krystal Armstrong Collins), Kroger, Marathon, Toys for Tots, as well as The Galveston County Daily News, and a host of community supporters have all come together for our fifth annual toy drive giveaway, founded by G County Hope Foundation in 2013.

When most people think of giving back they think of monetary contributions, and although I believe that is very important, there are many other ways we can give back to our community. Every community, whether large or small, has people who need to be reached by the love of others and that is something that successful people should be led to do. This will be our third year doing our “Best Money Ever Spent Toy Drive Giveaway.” This year we plan to reach 700 children; 350 boys and 350 girls.

The golden rule is to do unto others as you would want them to unto you, and this goes along with helping out others in need as well. Some time in our life we may need a contribution or helping hand and if we have not been that for someone else when we had the chance, we might not get the help we need.

G County Hope Foundation is a registered tax-exempt nonprofit organization established to serve the underprivileged citizens of Galveston County. It is our mission through the acts of caring, volunteering, donating, and organizing events/drives to uplift and inspire the spirit of humanity and hope throughout our community. We strive to be one of the pillars that hold our community up. In the vast sea of hope, it’s our goal to be the rising tide that lifts all boats.

This year, the toy drive giveaway will be held on Christmas Eve. We will give out toys at Sand Piper Cove (Parkland) in Galveston; Paks Food Store in Texas City; Food Rite Supermarket in Texas City; Independent Missionary Village of Hitchcock; and Church Village Apartments in Dickinson.

One way we need to show our gratitude for what we have is by giving back. None of us would be where we are today were it not for the great circumstances in which we have grown up. Therefore, it is not just a good thing to give back, it is our duty to try and make the world a better place for those less fortunate than ourselves.

If you are interested in helping donate to help any of the families that the businesses have adopted please call me at 832-677-7551 or visit www.gcountyhopefoundation.org.
