Nearly every day, it seems, at least one person posts a worrying comment on the Talk of La Marque Facebook page about hearing what he or she believes are gunshots in various parts of the city.

More often than not, there’s no police involvement to report and the sounds are attributed to fireworks or to transformers popping or some other not-gun-related thing.

Great - keep this disaster in the public's conscience.

A grassroots community effort to relieve the anxiety of the young in the area is good. That's a diversion. Diversion is not the same as tactics to attacks the places and the people doing the dastardly deeds. It is logical that there is a cabal consisting of members. It is logical that they have places where their gathering to plan or setout from to do their deeds. It is logical that a camera exist in the proximity of, or on the path they traveled. Shell casings identifies make of ammo, caliber, and the point where shots, etc., etc. The public is knowledgeable about the investigative tools and forensics that are utilized in pursuit of evidence leading to suspects. It appears nothing has been accomplished. Frustration is reasonable and will lead to more "do lives matter" belligerence.

It is judicious not publishing acquired evidence or the details of information gathered but the public knows that after years of criminal events that are coming from a gang there should have been something more than "another shooting", reported/known.

If the result after years has not produced enough reporting that assures the public progress has been had the time has come for the public to not only lose trust in the law enforcement but to be disgusted and to be suspicous of competency.

Stay on the story. Apathy or ignoring is the worst form of accepting failures.
