Kudos to Hitchcock city administrators for acquiring a grant of nearly $2 million from the Texas Department of Transportation to build sidewalks along a stretch of Delany Road as part of a downtown revitalization effort.

The 5-foot-wide sidewalks will be laid on the west side of Delany Road from state Highway 6 to Palmetto Street, on both sides of Highway 6 from Delany Road to Second Street and on the north side of state Highway 6 near the Good Ole Days fairgrounds, Mayor Chris Armacost said.
