The city of Galveston got good news this week when the Texas General Land Office gave initial approval for a plan to increase the cost of parking along Seawall Boulevard.

That approval also was good news for residents for several reasons.

This sounds completely reasonable to me. $45 for unlimited access to the beach is a bargain. And $2 an hour to park is not excessive by any parking fee standard. $16 for a day at the beach for you and your carload of family and friends? Yes!
