Benita Michelle Hernandez, 44, of Dickinson, TX, lost her struggle with Lupus and passed March 2, 2018 in Webster, TX. She was born March 19, 1973 in Millington, TN at Naval Air Station Millington, daughter of Benito Blas Hernandez Sr. and Gloria Luna Aguirre.
Benita graduated from Ball High School in Galveston, TX where she was a dedicated member of the marching band and many other activities. She then attended College of the Mainland where she studied and pursued her many interests including healthcare and law enforcement. Benita worked for many years as a property manager in her family’s business. The majority of her life she worked raising her family which was her greatest accomplishment.
Benita lived for her children and grandchildren whom she loved very dearly. She enjoyed spending time outdoors, horseback riding, and gardening. She loved to laugh and spend time with all her family and friends. She loved music, singing karaoke and loved to dance like no one was watching. She loved God, prayer, and lending a helping hand. Benita had a humble approach and a free spirit, a wonderful sense of humor, a beautiful soul, and a smile that would melt your heart. She will be greatly missed, forever cherished, and is now in eternal resting peace.
Surviving are sons, Camelio I. Herrera, III and wife Sarah and Jaime “BJ” Piñones Jr. and Kayla; daughters, Jamie Michelle Piñones and wife Danica and Gregoria “Gigi” Piñones; brothers, Benito “JR” Hernandez Jr and wife Laura, Joseph Aguirre and wife Melissa, Marc Aguirre and Jason Hernandez and Desiree; sisters, Ursula Hernandez Nix and husband Gilbert Nix and Krystal Hernandez; mother, Gloria Luna Aguirre; father, Benito Blas Hernandez, Sr. and wife and co-parent Mary Sue Hernandez; grandsons, Damian Andrew Escalona, Walter Quinn Herrera and Lee Watts and grandmother, Eula “Lulu” Luna.
Guests are invited to share in a Celebration of Life Visitation from 5-7:00 p.m., on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at Carnes Funeral Home, 3100 Gulf Freeway, TX 77591.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 9, 2018 at Carnes Funeral Home -Texas City with Interment to follow at Galveston Memorial Park Cemetery in Hitchcock, TX.
