Georgia Frances Montgomery, age 98, passed away Monday, March 12, 2018 in Galveston, Texas where she had lived for most of her life. She was born on December 28, 1919 in Corpus Christi, Texas, where she met and married her husband, Roy Lamar Montgomery Jr. After WWII, they moved to Galveston and started their family. She helped her husband with his wholesale food business by serving as secretary and bookkeeper, and running the washateria next door.

She was a member of Central Methodist Church for over 50 years. She was active in many organizations such as: Young Matrons, Eastern Star, Order of Beauceont, Daughters of the Nile, Rainbow Girls, Bridge Club, Cedar Lawn Garden Club, and numerous other clubs. Volunteering was an important part of her life, especially for the Shriners’ Hospital for Children.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Lamar Montgomery Jr; son, Roy Montgomery III; grandson Roy Montgomery IV; and infant granddaughter, Frances Ann Montgomery.

She is survived by her daughter, Janet Cooper; son, Charles Montgomery and wife Marsha; grandchildren, Cindy Pruitt, Casey Cooper, Elizabeth Williams and Charles V. Montgomery; and 8 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 15, 2018 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at J. Levy & Termini Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held on Friday, March 16, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at Galveston Memorial Park Cemetery in Hitchcock, Texas, with Pastor Ricky Pruitt officiating.
