Of course, another "protest" funded by George Soros. But the "protests" aren't as big or as fancy as they used to be. Is Soros running out of money?

Carlos Ponce

"Protest organizers said the Trump administration has essentially started a war with Iran by assassinating Soleimani."

The Liberal buzzwords for the day are "war" and "assassination". "Trump started a war with Iran, Trump started a war with Iran." "It was an assassination, it was an assassination! SQUAWK WHISTLE", the alt-Left parrot. One can tell who the Liberal parrots are by the use of these words. GROUP THINK is a horrible disease. KNOWLEDGE can cure it.

The conservative buzzwords for the day are "Soros" and "protest". "Protests are funded by Soros!" "Protests are funded by Soros!" "SQUAWK WHISTLE", the alt-Right parrot. They are being funded by George Soros. Not a Buzzword, just the TRUTH.

Bailey Jones

Prove it.

I posted a link yesterday but it disappeared. It was there but someone deleted it. Here it is again. I wonder how long this one will last.

When Henry Clay lost his son in the Mexican American War in 1847, he spoke to a public gathering in Lexington, which included a young Congressman Abraham Lincoln in the crowd. Clay’s words still ring true: “A declaration of war is the highest and most awful exercise of sovereignty…such a vast and tremendous power ought not to be confided to the perilous exercise of one single man."

President Trump viscerally understands that the toppling of Saddam Hussein made Iran stronger. Soleimani, like Hussein, was an evil man who ordered the killing of Americans. Yet, the question remains, whether his death will lead to more instability in the Middle East or less. The question today is whether the assassination of Soleimani will expand the war to endanger the lives of every American soldier or diplomat in the Middle East?

These aren't my words, they come from Rand Paul - someone I rarely agree with - but here we are.

Carlos Ponce

No one has declared war but Liberals use that as a buzzword. And it seems that someone is parroting that word here. Did you get a cracker for that?

Wayne Holt

The difference in perspectives can be summed up as this assassination may have been tactically useful but strategically idiotic. If you seek revenge for killing Americans by taking action that will result in yet more American lives lost, should that be considered a successful gambit?

We also should remember the American lives we were seeking revenge for were lost in other people's countries. Rand's father, Dr Ron Paul, has constantly tried to remind Americans that we are occupying forces in most of these countries. It doesn't mean the people we are fighting are heros or even liked by their populations. It means when you have occupied a country for 10 or 15 years, you tend to wear out your initial welcome.

We Americans are a funny breed. We can be so generous and kind to strangers around the world, and yet blind to the suffering we have caused others when the US government/MIC propaganda machine cranks up the patriotic music a little louder. We are also delusional if we think actions like this are not going to create blowback in the future.

Iawtc. What frustrates me is the seeming lack of any long term plan. Iran has been our enemy since we overthrew their government 67 years ago and put our puppet in its place. We should be planning how, a generation from now, Iran can be our ally again.

I see in today's TrumpDump that he's threatening to destroy Iranian cultural sites, a war crime made imfamous by the Taliban and Isis. Is this what American diplomacy looks like now?

Carlos Ponce

That depends on what the 52 sites are, Bailey. These are sites determined by the Pentagon to do as much damage to undermine Iranian terrorism. Trump loves the Iranian people who would love to topple the current regime. Destroying religious and archeological sites would undermine the trust these Iranians have placed in Trump and the United States. That's not what he means by 52 cultural sites unless there is collateral damage.

Bailey Jones

lol - that's what Pompeo said this morning. Trump corrected him -

“They’re allowed to kill our people. They’re allowed to torture and maim our people. They’re allowed to use roadside bombs and blow up our people. And we’re not allowed to touch their cultural sites? It doesn’t work that way.”

Carlos Ponce

Again with the phrase "cultural sites". You have a different concept of what that means to Iranians, the Pentagon and President Trump. Both Pompeo and Trump are correct. Wait and see what sites are targeted.

Bailey Jones

I'm aware that words have lost all meaning in Trump World, but the definition of "cultural site" - Trump's words, not mine - is clear to the rest of humanity. But yeah, it's probably just bluff and bluster, that's Trump's modus operandi.

Carlos Ponce

Again, Bailey fails to comprehend. Consider the following sentence: The Bears were beaten by the Cowboys. Words would translate by anyone with a lack of knowledge into American football into large mammals were beaten by young man with bovine traits. Let me repeat: "You have a different concept of what that means to Iranians, the Pentagon and President Trump. Both Pompeo and Trump are correct. Wait and see what sites are targeted."

Bailey Jones

I think you've reached a new level of ridiculousness, Carlos.

Carlos Ponce

No, Bailey, but it is apparent you've reached a low level in your stubbornness.
