LYNCHBURG, Va. (AP) -- Luke Wakamatsu hit a three-run home run in the fifth inning, leading the Lynchburg Hillcats to a 6-4 win over the Carolina Mudcats on Wednesday.

The home run by Wakamatsu scored Wilbis Santiago and Jose Vicente to cut the Carolina lead to 4-3.

The Hillcats later added a run in the sixth and two in the seventh. In the sixth, Vicente hit an RBI single, while Jodd Carter and Nolan Jones both drove in a run in the seventh.

Brennan Bernardino (1-1) got the win in relief while Cody Beckman (2-1) took the loss in the Carolina League game.
