The former top network engineer for Clear Creek Independent School District is charged in connection with the theft of almost 60 smart phones that investigators allege were shipped to Russia and Uzbekistan, according to the sheriff’s office.
Eduardo Vasquez, 51, who had worked at the district as a lead network engineer, was charged with of felony theft of property Monday and held until he posted $60,000 bond, Sheriff Henry Trochesset said.
Galveston County Sheriff’s Office investigators in October 2021 began working a case related to the theft of 58 Apple iPhones missing from Clear Creek Independent School District’s Network and Technical Services Team, Trochesset said.
“Investigators developed a suspect through a review of CCISD email correspondence and corroborated the information through numerous interviews,” Trochesset said.
Investigators allege the phones were shipped overseas, he said.
Vasquez was arrested Monday near his home in League City, Trochesset said.

Phones sent to Russia and Uzbekistan ? Seriously, who / what is this guy. If that is correct, the authorities need to find out what the real story is here.
