A man accused of slashing the throat of his roommate and dumping him on a Texas City sidewalk will spend up to the next 30 years in prison after pleading guilty to murder.

Juan Carlos Ramirez-Vargas, 28, of Galveston, pleaded guilty to the murder to Pablo Padilla, according to court records.

Ramirez-Vargas was arrested in January 2020, a day after Padilla’s body was found on a sidewalk in Texas City. Padilla’s throat had been cut, according to police.

For Murder: Only 30 years???? The guy can kill his roommate, dump the body, and be out in 15 with good behavior? For Murder? What's the Texas Judicial System coming to? Maybe we need a new District Attorney if he's setting up plea deals to get murderers out in just 15 years.

The DA's office is now soft on crime. 30 years for murder, really! And is this guy an illegal alien? We'll never know with the Daily News. In another story, they dropped charges, for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Stop this madness and boot the DA out of office.
