Two men drowned in the waters off Bolivar Peninsula over the weekend, according to the Galveston County Sheriff's Office.
The bodies of Quoc Phung and Nguien Nguyen were recovered from the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway and the Galveston Bay on Sunday morning, Sheriff Henry Trochesset said.
Both men were from Bellaire.
The men knew each other and were believed to have gone wade-fishing Saturday on Bolivar Peninsula, Trochesset said. They were reported missing on Sunday morning, shortly before their bodies were found, Trochesset said.
The circumstances that led to the men's drowning were unclear, Trochesset said. Both men were wearing waders, which could have made it difficult for them to surface if they slipped under water.
It's unclear whether they were fishing when a rain storm passed over parts of the county on Saturday afternoon.
