Two men were hospitalized this morning — the result of separate shootings in La Marque and Texas City, officials said.
In the first incident, a 24-year-old man was taken to the hospital after he was shot in the face while in a La Marque hotel parking lot, police said.
Officers arrived around 4:45 a.m. and found the man with a gunshot wound, La Marque Police Lt. Chad Waggoner said.
The man was at America’s Best Value Inn & Suites, 5201 Interstate 45, near Delany Road, Waggoner said.
The shooting appears unconnected to a spate of gun violence in the La Marque and Texas City area in recent months, Waggoner said.
Police have not yet made any arrests in connection to the shooting, he said.
A few hours later, a man was hospitalized in serious condition after someone shot him multiple times outside of a Texas City apartment complex, police confirmed.
The man, in his 30s, was coming home from work and had just gotten out of his car when another person got out of another car, approached the victim and fired several shots at him, police said.
The man was struck three times during the exchange, police said. He was transported to a University of Texas Medical Branch hospital in serious condition.
That shooting happened around 6:30 a.m., police said.
Police don’t yet have a description of a suspect, officials said.
Investigators were still at the scene of the crime, an apartment complex in the 3700 block of Ninth Avenue North, around noon today.
