A Texas City man was hospitalized Friday after two men struck him with a baseball bat in his home.

Around 5:30 a.m. Friday, Texas City police responded to a call after a man was beaten with a baseball bat in his home in the 100 block of 17th Street North. Two men had knocked on the victim’s door and struck him several times with the bat when he answered, police said.

The unidentified man was taken to the University of Texas Medical Branch for treatment, police said. His injuries were unknown.

Police were investigating the incident and searching for the two men, who were only described as Hispanic, officials said. Police encouraged anyone with information to contact the department at 409-643-5834.
