GALVESTON — City crews have restored water service to about 10 customers after a leaking pipe caused a sinkhole, an official said.

A car drove into the roughly 2-foot deep sinkhole at the entrance to an alley off 51st Street between Avenues R and Q ½. There were no reports of injuries.

[ohmy] ! I drive on 51st in that area quite often. I wouldn't have suspected that 51st - along that area - would have that much of a sinkhole issue, but certainly many parts of 43rd along its perpendicular lettered vicinity - from S up to O, that street is horrendous. I remember several months ago, a sinkhole in that area (43rd) sinked down or sucked down a car near Ball High.

Good thing 51st isn't an extremely travelled road like even 57th is...as some of those other roads indeed reach to the Seawall - while 51st doesn't.
