The family of a man killed in an industrial accident at the Port of Galveston last week has filed a lawsuit against his former employer.

Chi Tai Vong, 26, a Galveston resident, was one of two people killed Sep. 20 when a crane collapsed at the T&T Marine Offshore facility on Pelican Island.

Blake Carlisle, 20, of Dickinson, was also killed.

In a lawsuit filed Friday in Harris County’s 164th District Court, Vong’s wife sued T&T Marine Inc., the Teichman Group LLC, and Express Professional Services Inc., seeking $25 million in damages.

T&T Marine and the Teichman Group are affiliated companies that own and operate the facility where the collapse happened. Express Professional Services is a job placement company.

Kao Lee Yang accused the companies of negligence for failing to prevent the crane collapse by properly training their employees and failing to stabilize the crane, among other accusations.

Yang is being represented by Houston attorney Tony Buzbee.
