A woman was arrested Friday evening and charged with a felony in connection with a stabbing that occurred during a street fight, police said
Police were called to the 2500 block of Broadway in Galveston at 8:56 p.m. to a report of a suspicious person, according to a probable cause affidavit.
Officers found a woman sitting on the ground with blood on her face, according to the affidavit.
A witness told police the woman had slammed another woman to the ground, then took out a knife and stabbed the victim multiple times, according to the affidavit.
Police found the victim at an apartment about six blocks away, according to the affidavit. She was taken to a University of Texas Medical Branch hospital where she was treated for stab wounds under her left arm pit and on her left hip, according to the affidavit.
The affidavit does not say how the fight started.
Avanti Holley, 35, of Galveston, was charged Friday with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. She was held on $80,000 bond. She was still in custody at the Galveston County jail on Tuesday afternoon, according to jail records
