An investigation in Texas City led to the seizure of about 4 grams of crack cocaine, a handgun, a scale and other items used to manufacture crack cocaine, and the arrest of two men, police said.
On Wednesday afternoon, Texas City Police Department SWAT officers, along with the Galveston County Warrant Division and the Texas City Marshal searched a house in the 700 block of Second Avenue North.
Five men were detained while officers searched the property. Police reported finding 3.8 grams of crack cocaine, a Rossi .357-caliber handgun and various paraphernalia, authorities said.
Deatrick Jarron Black, 33, was charged with possession of a controlled substance between 1 gram and 4 grams in a drug free zone and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. Black was also wanted for a previous investigation for manufacture of a controlled substance greater than 4 grams, police said. He was being held in the Galveston County Jail on a $580,000 bond.
Ronald Kevin Adams, 58, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance less than 1 gram in a drug free zone. He was being held on a $100,000 bond.
