La Marque Fatal Car Accident

A La Marque firefighter works at the scene of a two-car accident at the intersection of Ross Street and state Highway 3 in La Marque on Monday, Jan. 22, 2018. The driver of a gold Chevy Malibu was killed in the collision.

An 88-year-old woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash Monday afternoon in La Marque, police said.

The crash happened at the intersection of state Highway 3 and Ross Street at 1:48 p.m., according to the La Marque Police Department.

The woman was declared dead at the scene, police said. She was from La Marque. Her name had not been released Monday evening.

The woman was driving east through the intersection in a gold Chevy Malibu when she was struck by a white Dodge Caliber on the driver’s side door.

The driver of the Caliber might have run a red light, police said.

The highway was shut down in both directions as the crash was investigated. No charges were announced Monday, but the crash was still under investigation, police said.

The one question that everyone is asking.... why did it take someone being killed at this intersection due to having 4 way flashing red stop lights before someone fixed the problem the very next day??

And why hasn't there been a follow up story with more details of this crash? I'm sure that area businesses have cameras that perhaps caught the entire incident?

Who's going to take the blame for this needless death, TxDot or the construction crew who is laying down new pipe lines across from the railroad tracks?

Prayers go out to the family for the loss of their loved one.
