The Texas City Police Department is asking for the public's help in investigating a fatal shooting that left one man dead on Friday.

The shooting happened around 2 p.m. Friday afternoon in the 1100 block of 4th Avenue North, police said.

Police were called to the area after a report of people in a car shooting at the occupant of another car, Texas City Police Department spokesman Cpl. Allen Bjerke said. The incident began on the 1100 block of 3rd Avenue North and ended with the car the shooting victim was driving crashing on 4th Avenue North, Bjerke said.

After the crash, the man was taken to HCA Houston Healthcare Mainland, where he was declared dead, Bjerke said

Police did not immediately release the name of the 31-year-old victim, whose last listed address was in Rosharon and who had family in Hitchcock, Bjerke said.

No arrests have been made.

In a Facebook post published Saturday morning, police asked for help identifying two Black men seen in a dark-colored sedan at the time of the shooting. The vehicle was last seen driving west on 4th Avenue North toward 12th Street North, police said.

Police did not release any other details about the car or the shooting victim.

"Detectives are seeking information from anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have information about the case," police said.

Anyone with information about the case is urged to contact the Texas City Police Department at 409-643-5720. A cash reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest or charges being filed in this case, police said.
