Police are holding a 39-year-old La Marque man on a weapons charge in connection with the shooting death of a woman in her home Friday morning, authorities said.
Byron Coleman, 39, of La Marque, was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, police said. His bond is set at $200,000.
Coleman was charged hours after Brandy Rhines, 39, was found dead in her home in the 1900 block of Little Street, police said.
Police at about 10:45 a.m. Friday received a 911 call about a woman found dead in her home, according to a statement issued today.
Officers at the scene said Rhines appeared to have been shot several times, police said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
