The title of this article tells it all. Galveston County residents are having to search for vaccines. Why isn't there a plan that is published daily in the GDN? Vaccines are sitting on the shelf because of a lack of distribution planning and citizens are dying.
The posted phone number 409.547.4015 does not work unless you dial 1.409.547.4015.
Then I waited for over 45 minutes while accessing the GCHD Website as suggested by the recorded phone message - then to be cutoff! This site offers no real information about how to register. The Maps only shows available site that may or may not have any vaccines. Quite a frustrating path to follows. Such guidance is counterproductive in my opinion!
Correction: Tried again and no need to put a 1 ahead of the number!
Updated Success, my next door neighbor did get a reservation!
Copied from the Facebook GCHD at 11:25 AM on 01 06 2021:
📢📢📢 UPDATE: All available appointments have been filled.
We are not currently taking future appointments. As additional vaccine doses are made available to the health district, we will share that information here and on our website at www.gchd.org/covidvaccine
.
We do ask for everyone to remain patient. More shipments are expected in coming weeks. The health district plans to expand who is eligible to receive the vaccine as more doses are made available.
Our goal while vaccine supply is limited is to quickly vaccinate as many people at risk of severe illness or death from COVID-19 as possible. As vaccine availability increases in 2021, people will be able to get vaccinated at doctor’s offices, pharmacies, hospitals and other usual sites.
The state has a map of vaccine provider locations. You can view it at https://txdshs.maps.arcgis.com/.../webappvi.../index.html
.... Keep in mind, not all locations are currently vaccinating Phase 1B.
You can also check with your health care provider to see what their plan is to roll out the vaccine.
I have been on hold for over 2 hrs. and 22 min. Please make the process better/. Take Mark H. up on his offer to help!
Why the panic? If a person follows a few simple guidelines we should be fairly safe until comes. Is that perfect, no, but if you have followed those suggested guidelines and haven't been infected by Covid you should be safe. Poor yourself a nice glass of scotch and relax your turn will come.
