Looks like fun.

Bill Cochrane

What it looks like to me is someone can't count? I witnessed literally hundreds and hundreds of boats in the pro-Trump parade. This report is like saying there were dozens of tourists in Galveston this weekend. Yep there were but why downplay it?

Connie Patterson

Agreed, there were several hundred in Offats alone

Carlos Ponce

Bobby Joe Stampley‎ posted a picture on Facebook:

"Today in Galveston 800 boats way to go!!! Support our wonderful president!!! Trump 2020."

Gary Miller

If it had been a Biden event the media would have counted thousands of boats. The Democrat media can't be trusted.

Gary Scoggin

Glad you were able to get a gratuitous slam at Democrats and the Media in there, Gary. You always meet my expectations.

Susan Smith

GDN is the MSM, expect anything different?

Chris Haynes

Fake News! Super disappointing GDN! We came under the causeway at 11a yesterday and there were Many hundreds, if not a thousand, boats assembled on the west side of causeway. It was a safe, family oriented, and highly patriotic display by the boating community. Hopefully GDN has the professional courtesy to issue a correction!

Gary Scoggin

Hundreds!, Thousands! Millions!

Ted Gillis

Why can’t we just leave the real news reporting to the newspapers and the fake exauturated news to Facebook. I crossed Offatts bayou around 12:00 noon on Saturday and there were a hundred or so boats, not 800 hundred. Fake News!

It looked like great fun for those that were attending. Why can’t you just promote it as such and congratulate those that attended, instead of cry babying about the news reporters take on it.

Kenneth Cambiano

I was there and lost count around 700 and there were many more after I lost count.

Kenneth Cambiano

Dear Ted if you crossed the bayou on 61st you missed it all. Please don’t down play it like the news does. I watched it on the water and it was the biggest gathering of boats of all sizes from 14’ to 94’ that I have every seen and I have been on and worked on the water for a very long time. It was amazing!!!!!

Ted Gillis

Then I stand corrected. If you counted 700 plus then by all means you had a much better vantage point. Sounds like a really impressive turn out. Great weather too!

For the Daily “Opinion”to downplay this amazing display of patriotism and support for our President is sad, at best. There were many hundreds of boats with law abiding, respectful citizens rallying together in support of our freedom and country. The Daily “News” is so off base when it comes to accurate reporting. Their biased reporting is why I will be canceling my subscription.

Doug Sivyer

Display of patriotism my ass! What does tRump have to do with patriotism? The man is a draft dodger and know nothing about serve and sacrifice! He has openly criticized many of our military hero's that have served honorably and some who have paid the ultimate sacrifice. Not sure what glass you are looking thru that you see any reason to be patriot or proud of Donald tRump in these times of Tyranny we are living in this nation.

Carlos Ponce

Be sure to take a selfie when Trump wins re-election, Doug.

Doug Sivyer

You are dreaming Carlos. Have some coffee and wake up

Carlos Ponce

Be sure to post your selfie. Will it look like [crying], or [sad], or [censored]?

When Trump wins, mine will look like[beam][beam][beam][beam][beam][beam]!

Ted Gillis

Then you won’t be able to post your opinion to articles like this one. Don’t be part of the cancel culture. Let the advertisers put the pressure on them. They listen to them.

Doug Sivyer

According to Fox News reports there were thousands and thousands of boats! It was a HUGE event. The most BIGLY event of it's kind. Boats and tRumps "subjects" came from all around the globe to pay tribute to our Dictator in Chief. tRump was there himself and threw out MAGA embossed life preservers to his fans in case their boats sink just like his reelection campaign is doing.

Bailey Jones

My understanding of the sinking of boats at the Lake Travis event is that the larger Trump boats ignored the smaller Trump boats, creating wakes that swamped and sank them. I can't think of a better analogy for the Trump Era.

Carlos Ponce

My understanding is it had to do with rough waters not wakes.

"Rough waters on Lake Travis as hundreds of boats in Trump boat parade. Several swaamped. #Statesman @bobphoto pic.twitter.com/DPpKKhgljF"

Jim Forsythe

The Travis County Sheriff's Office said they responded to a total of 15 distress calls which varied and included: boats taking on water, stalled engines, capsized boats and boats sinking.

According to the sheriff's department, the wake in the water was caused by "many, many" boats on the water. CBS Austin affiliate KEYE reports that boats began sinking almost immediately as the parade started, according to the Travis County Sheriff's Office.

Carlos Ponce

"Rough water" is what the CBS report states. Were there problems in Galveston with many more boats with "wake"?

Jim Forsythe

the wake in the water was caused by "many, many" boats on the water.

Carlos Ponce

Of course... Jim was right in the middle doing the dog paddle![rolleyes]

Carlos Ponce

So the Galveston County Daily News allows Doug Sivyer to use this three letter variant of the F-bomb.

Carlos Ponce

Sorry to hear about you friend tRump, Doug. However Donal J. Trump's campaign is doing fine and preparing for VICTORY.

Someone asked who was the "Biggest Idiot Democrats Ever Nominated", and that answered the question.

Doug Sivyer

We are going to throw him out of office faster than you can say tRump is a Liar and a Fraud. The nation will rejoice!

Carlos Ponce

That will never happen, Doug.

Ted Gillis

I heard that one of the images (making it’s way around the internet) of a sunken cabin cruiser resting on the bottom the lake is a fake.

I’m okay with fake imagery when used as part of a parody or joke, but when it’s passed off as authentic then that’s not okay.

Blanca Bell

As a participant in the Galveston Trump Boat Parade it is my observation that as all boats were going in the same direction there was no "wave' problem. It was when the beginning of the parade made a u-turn at 61st street and went back towards the causeway that the waves/wakes became treacherous. As the hundreds and hundreds of boats were in the parade they kept to a slow 5 or 6 mph but as they were leaving the bayou some were going 30,40 50 mph and cause alot of turbulence in a small area.

Doug Sivyer

Carlos I will be looking forward to your selfie when tRump is thrown out. [ohmy][scared][yawn]

Carlos Ponce

Trump will walk out in January 2025 when his second term is over.
